    No full text

In the development of Quran interpretation, the approach of science has been used, which is considered the most contemporary approach to understanding verses related to the universe. Among the paradigm shifts in the interpretation of the Quran caused by the use of a scientific approach, is the emergence of an understanding of verses that were originally associated with a certain time, such as the impending apocalypse, then changed that in fact the verse is not an explanation of the events of the doomsday, such as the change in understanding of verse 4 in sura al-Zalzalah which states that at the time of the earthquake, the earth speaks to man. This article is a results of the research on the tafsir al-Jāmi’ li Ahkām al-Qur’ān by imam al-Qurṭubī and Kitab Al-Qur’an dan Tafsirnya (Edisi yang Disempurnakan) compiled by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia by qualitative methods. This article concludes that classical and modern exegetes have similarities in interpreting the earth speak. The equation is that when the earth is shaken it releases its burden in the form of rocks and other objects. After examining these objects, they can provide information about human actions that have occurred at certain times. The Geologists can also get information about when the earthquake occurred at a certain time from the records found on rocks and coral reefs.

    No full text
This paper discusses multiculturalism as a crucial concept to counter extremism. The perspective used is the Islamic perspective, with the thesis that diversity is a necessity of God, so that Islam, through the Qur’an, guides human beings regarding ways of living with multicultural principles. At the same time, while some circles want a monocultural order, which is manifested by the proliferation of extremism in the name of Islam, it is as if in the Qur’an there are two contradictory teachings about plurality and how to respond to it. Based on the studies that have been carried out, this paper finds that multiculturalism is a moral-ideal of the Qur\u27an, while extremism is an ideological doctrine based on the interpretation of the Qur\u27an itself. Thus, deep multiculturalism can become a counter-narrative of extremism

This article explains the concept of the ideal family contained in the interpretations of al-Azhar by Hamka and al-Misbah by Muhammad Quraish Shihab. These two interpretations show that the Qur\u27an contains instructions that can be used as a benchmark for humans to achieve the ideal family, namely humans must always present feelings of sakinah, mawaddah, and rahmah in their family. Apart from that, they also have to protect each other from things that can lead them to the fires of hell, wishing each other well. The views of the two interpretations are very relevant to modern life, that the values of the Koran must exist in the family to achieve an ideal family. The method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative using the interpretations of al-Azhar and al-Mishbah as data sources by limiting them to surah al-Rūm 21, QS. al-Taḥrīm 6 and QS. al-Furqān 74. The views of the two interpretations are compared, then enriched by the views of other commentators and figures
