GROW OUT CULTURE OF CORAL TROUT Plectropomu leopardus IN FLOATING NET CAGES WITH DIFFERENT FEEDING FREQUENCIES
A study on the effect of feeding frequency on coral trout culture Plectropomus leopardus was conducted in floating net cages. The aim of this study was to determine an optimum feeding frequency for better growth rate and feed conversion ratio. The experiment was divided into two stages, i.e.; using fish with a range of body weight of 24 to 100 g (1st stage), and fish with a range of 100 to150 g (2nd stage). The first stage, consisted of four treatments of feeding frequencies, i.e. four times a day (4/1), three times a day (3/1), twice a day (2/1), and once a day (1/1). For the second stage experiment, the treatments applied were, three times a day (3/1), twice a day (2/1), once a day (1/1), and once in two days (1/2). Each treatment was in triplicate. At each feeding time, experimental fish were fed with dry pellets to apparent satiation. Both first and second experimental stages showed that the treatments of twice a day (2/1) feeding frequency attained significantly higher growth rates and lower feed conversion ratios than other treatments (P<0.05). Survival rate at the first stage (4/1), three times a day (3/1), twice a day (2/1), higher than (1/1) (P<0.05). But in the second stage the survival rate is not significant. The most optimum feeding frequencies for this species is 2/1 for the fish of 24 to 150 g BW
TOGO PERFOMANCE IN RIVER AND PONDS AT CEMARA LABAT VILLAGE, CENTRAL KALIMANTAN
Togo is a passive gear and classified as a trap and guiding barrier. Togo fishery in Cemara Labat village covers fishing activities in river and ponds. Penaeus indicus fishing in ponds are considered more profitable because catches obtained were greater thanboth in term of abundance and biomass. This study aims to identify fishing unit, compare the productivity and analyze differences in the number and size of catches of togo in river and ponds. The research used case study, survey and interview techniques to collect data on the performance of the fishing gear, productivity, the number and size of catches were analyzed using technical analysis, productivity trip and unpaired comparisson t-test. Results showed fishing unit of togo in river consists of fishing gear and boat, while the components on the fishing unit of togo in ponds consisting of fishing gear, ponds and hut. The t -test showed that it differed in abundance and biomass of shrimp on the different togo (p<0.05). The average size in river was 7879 cm with average catch was 10.60 kg while catches per trip was 31.47 kg trip-1 less than togo in ponds which reached 53.45 kg trip-1 with an average number and size where each 31.47 kg and 10.07 cm
WATER QUALITY OF POST CONTAMINATION OF MARINE DEBRIS IN THE KUTA BEACH OF BALI
Kuta Beach of Bali is one of the top tourist destination for a vacation in Bali Island. The beauty of the beach with white sand, ocean waves are excellent for surfing, sunset, and tourism infrastructure which detailed makes very famous Kuta beach to foreign countries. However, in recent years the beauty of Kuta beach which has become an icon of tourism in Bali began plagued by high levels of contaminant of the marine debris on the beach, mainly contamination of the marine debris that often accumulate in Kuta beach every season West. The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of water quality based the quality standards of sea water KMNLH Number 51 Years 2004 post contamination of the marine debris that occurred in the Kuta beach of Bali. The method used is to perform measurements using a "Water Quality Checker" at 8 measuring stations. Water quality parameters which measured, namely physical parameters (temperature, turbidity) and chemical parameters (pH, salinity, DO). The results showed a temperature with the range of value 29.10-29.40°C, turbidity with the value range 0.30-18.70 NTU, pH with the value range 8.10-8.15 DO with the value range 6.85-7.38 mg/L and salinity with the value range 30.60-30.90%o. Based on the measurement data obtained indicates conditions of the waters chemistry of still suitable and condition of the waters physical showed the value of the temperature is still suitable, except the turbidity value shows the value does not suitable in the station 1, 2 and 8. SESSILE ORGANISMS COLONISATION ON CONCRETE SUBSTRATE “CRYPTO” AT DIFFERENT DEPTH IN THE PATCH REEF OF PRAMUKA ISLAND
Acceleration of the process of recovery of damaged reefs require rehabilitation, management and supervision of well-planned and sustainable. One of the rehabilitation process is to create artificial reef. This study aims to look at the rate of attachment of sessile organisms on cement media called “crypto”. A total of 270 cement media at each shelf. The size of cement media is 5x5x1 cm. The cement media were deployed at a depth of 6 meters and 10 meters. The rate of attachment of sessile organisms was compared between the upper and lower of the media side at each depth and between depths. Different organisms was observed colonized concrete media such as shells, sponges, worms, green algae, red algae, and brown algae. Percentage of coverage of sessile biota at a depth of 6 meters was significantly higher than 10 meters. Percentage of coverage of sponges at a depth of 6 meters and 10 meters, showed no significantly different (P = 0.0670). The other sessile biota, value of the test results showed significant differences between depths, such as the brown algae (P< 0.0001), red algae (P = 0.0003), and green algae (P = 0.0022). DEGRADATION OF REEF FISH CATCH AS AN EFFECT OF TOURISM INDUSTRY ACTIVITIES IN GILI SULAT AND GILI LAWANG WATERS, EAST LOMBOK
The development of tourism activities in industrial scale since 2004 in the region of Gili Sulat and Gili Lawang have caused problem to local fishermen for catching reef fish. The objective of this research was to analyse the preeminent fishing gears of reef fish, the contamination types of tourism industries to fishing ground, and the degradation pattern of reef fish catch as an effect of tourism industry activities. The method used in this research was scoring method, quality standard test of water to fishery activities, and exponential regression model. The results showed that preeminent fishing gears of reef fish in the region of Gili Sulat and Gili Lawang were handline (Fgab = 2.000) and fish trap (Fgab = 1.556). The contamination types of tourism industries which bothering fishing ground of reef fish were total suspended solid (TSS), garbage, detergent, and timbal (Pb). The degradation pattern in quantity of reef fish catch (Y1) by activities of tourism industry (X) was formulated with moel Y1 = 31.574e-0.305X (R2=0.403, p=0.000). The degradation pattern of reef fish catch by activities of tourism industry (X) in the form of value of reef fish catch (Y2) and figuring waste in reef fishing (Y3) was formulated with model Y2=474823e-0.236X (R2=0.206, p=0.012), and Y3=1.296e0.329X (R2=0.071, p=0.156)
BIODIVERSITY AND ABUNDANCE OF DEMERSAL FISHS STOCK IN TAMBELAN WATER, NATUNA SEA
Understanding on fish diversity is essential for fish stock conservation specifically in Tambelan Island waters with a high fish diversity. This research was conducted in November 2010 at 6 sampling site around Tambelan Island. Samples were taken using trawl gear within sweeping technique. The para-meters of collected data were kind of species, number of fish, total length, and total weight. Data analyses were stock abundance (based on time trawling), diversity, richness, equity, and similarity between site sampling. The total fishes that were caugth were 1.224 individual that consisted of 105 species and 44 family of fishes. Total weight of sample was 55.3 kg, with the average stock abundance 0.27 kg/hour. Fishes catch composition were Apogonidae family 11,4%, Mulliidae family 35.7%, Nemipteridae family 16.3%, and Lutjanidae family 7,7%. Richness value index ranged of 1862 –3.121. Equitability index ranged of 0.329 – 0.576. Similarity index for station 3 and 6 was at 33.89% level; for station 1, 4, and 5 was at 20.31 % level, and for station 4 and 5 was at 45,30% level from the maximum value of 100%
REPRODUCTION BIOLOGY EASTERN LITTLE TUNA Euthynnus affinis IN THE SUNDA STRAIT
Eastern little tuna is small pelagic fish that has high economic value. Fishing effort of the eastern little tuna for the last eight years have also exceeded the optimum level. To ensure the sustainability of the pelagic fish resources, it is necessary to perform the management efforts. This study was to observe reproductive Biology of the eastern little tuna, as one of the necessary information in the management of fishery resources. Fish -samples were collected from the catch of local fishermen in April-August 2015. Based on T test (α = 0,05), the eastern little tuna males and females showed positive allometric growth patterns. Average size of the first time caught fish for the female (308,37 mm) and male (280,63 mm) was smaller than that observed in those first time maturity gonads (ranging 407-408 mm for female and 438-440 mm for male). The eastern little tuna spawn gradually or partially (partial spawner), and have high reproductive potential with fecundity ranged 17.814-560.792 eggs (average fecundity: 109.807) in fish of 285-630 mm body length. The gonad maturity level of the eastern Little Tuna is dominated by Gonad maturity level I and II,(immature). The value of gonad maturity for the female level is about 0,0769-0,6879 and the male is 0,1913-0,3000
GROWTH PERFORMANCE OF TRANSFECTION TIGER SHRIMP BROODSTOCK Penaeus monodon IN DIFFERENT GENERATION
Diseases resistant genes assemblage for tiger shrimp has been initiated by The Research Institute for Coastal Aquaculture in collaboration with Bogor Agricultural Institute, through transgenesis approach under anti-virus genes transfection. The study aimed to evaluate the growth performance of broodstock candidates of tiger shrimp at different generati on (F0 and F1). This research was conducted at 2000 m2size of four ponds in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi.. The treatment was different generations of broodstocks, which were: broodstocks originated from F0generation, (A) and F1 (B). The 22.63 to 28.57 g of broodstock candidates were stocked 0.5 ind.m-2 and then reared for 128 days. During rearing period, these shrimp were fed usingcommercial pelleted feed with content 36-38% of protein in dosage of 10-4%/ body weight. Feeding frequency was applied in the morning and in the evening. Measured variables were growth, size distribution, survival rate and water quality The results indicated that the performances of these shrimps, growth, size distributions as well as survival rates between these F0 and F1 were not significantly different (p>0.05). The growth pattern was relatively equal between treatment during rearing period. Survival rate of tiger shrimp in this study ranged from 51.7 to 73.35%. This study have implications on the provision of superior broodstock shrimp in ponds in order to support the sustainability of shrimp seed production in hatchery. INVENTORY AND DISTRIBUTION OF MOLLUSC IN CORAL REEF OF BACAN ISLAND WATERS, NORTH MALUKU PROVINCE
Bacan Island waters of North Maluku Province consisted of three main tropical ecosystems, namely mangrove, seagrass, and coral reef with the highest marine biodiversity. Mollusc is a group of marine fauna that most of them associated with coral reef. However, little is known about their information in the Bacan Island due to lack of study conducted there. The purpose of this study is to observe the diversity and distribution of mollusc fauna in the coral reef flat of Bacan Island. Mollusc inventory was done using Rapid Reef Resource Assessment (RRA) method by snorkling in the reefs of east coast (25 sites) and west coast (10 sites) of Bacan Island. The molluscs found were directly identified into species level and recorded. Results of inventory show that there are 47 species belong to 19 families with the family of Muricidae is the highest diversity (6 species), while the lowest are Buccinidae, Bursidae, Haliotidae, Olividae, Cardiidae, Isognomonidae and Spondylidae, respectively with only 1 species in each of those families. The highest species number of mollusc was distributed along the east coast of the island (40 species), and the lowest one was in the west coast (37 species). Some species such as Tridacna spp., Pinctada margaritifera and Pteria penguin are important species, because they have economical values. DENSITY AND THE COVERAGE OF SEAGRASS ECOSYSTEM IN BAHOI VILLAGE COASTAL WATERS, NOTRH SULAWESI
Physical seagrass ecosystem damage have been reported in various regions in Indonesia. Seagrass ecosystem damage is caused by human activity such as trampling seagrass and boats that muddy the waters and reduced the density and seagrass cover. This study aims to provide information about the density and the coverage of seagrass. The method used in this research is the transect method measuring 50x50 cm squared at three different locations by considering coastal ecosystems Bahoi village that already exist. Station 1 is near to mangrove habitat, station 2 is right on seagrass habitats, and station 3 is near to coral reef habitat. The results indicated there is six seagrass species that found in the Bahoi village which is Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemprichii, Cymodocea rotundata, Syringodium isoetifolium, Halophila ovalis, and Halodule uninervis. The density and seagrass cover is shows that the station 1 has the highest density and seagrass cover percentage compared with the other stations. The highest density of seagrass species located in station 1 with 955 individuals/m2, and the lowest was located at station 3 with 699 individuals/m2. While the highest cover percentage is located at station 1 with 270% and the lowest located at station 3 with 229%. Keyword: seagrass ecosystem, density, coverage, Baho
