Subject selection is determined by reference to key person who know the condition of the subject to the criteria of age 60 years or older , had more chronic disease than a year, can provide information through interviews. Results showed that the elderly experience while facing chronic illness can be identified through the important themes that are synthesized in the form of the internal dimensions of the disease view of the subject , the denial of the disease, the emergence of the thoughts that accompany illness, the emergence of a variety of emotional experience, surrender to face pain, and actions undertaken in overcoming the disease, and the external dimension of support or attention of the family. IS HER DIAGNOSIS MAJOR DEPRESSION OR SEXUAL REPRESSION?: A NON-WESTERN FIJIAN FEMALE CLINICAL SINGLE CASE STUDY
This article presents a case of a 25-year-old non-western Fijian working class woman who became severely depressed following a love relationship problem. During six months of cognitive-behavioral treatment involving two 1 hour weekly session specifically applying Beck, Rush, Shaw, and Emery (1979) standard cognitive therapy resulted in no treatment gain.
This indicates the inefficacy of such intervention, thus being attributed to differential clinical diagnosis of the syndrome. After termination of therapy, a further in-dept case analysis and review of the patient revealed the importance of sexual repression as possible underlying syndrome, thus suggesting Freud’s psychoanalytic conceptualization of this problem as a possible explanation of her many depressive and anxious symptoms.
A prospective suggestion on possible psychoanalytic treatment is advocated for in such future case of similar nature. The problems of classification of mental disorders in Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM), clinical diagnosis, clinical judgment, and therapeutic bias, are briefly highlighted and discussed with some concluding suggestions.

There is also significant difference in the knowledge of group counseling (t = -20.414; p< 0,01). The qualitative data can be concluded that the school counselors get a deeper understanding of group counseling and its procedure as well as their ability to lead a group counseling for students. MARITAL CONFLICT RESOLUTION OF MIDDLE CLASS JAVANESE COUPLES
This research set out to learn more about Javanese couple’s strategies in handling their conflict. The strategies of three couples from middle class social status, resident in the city of Yogyakarta, were explored by using semi-structured interview methods and repeating the interviews over three cycles.
It was found that the strategies applied for managing conflict reflect avoidance of conflict, while the strategies for problem solving tend to be strategies related to self management, that is, the attempt to control oneself in order to cope with stress. It appears that these strategies are strongly influenced by traditional values and philosophies.

The validity used is content validity while reliability test uses coefficient technique of Alpha reliability from Cronbach. Data analysis uses correlation technique of Product Moment from Pearson. Normality test result with Kolmogorov Smirnov of Fit Test (K-SZ) points out that the variable of self efficacy has coefficient K-SZ=0,535 with p>0,05 while the variable of family social support has coefficient K-SZ=0,763 with p>0,05 howing both variables having normal distribution. PROGRAM PELATIHAN DENGAN METODE SIMULASI UNTUK FASILITATOR: PENELITIAN AWAL KEMATIAN TENTANG IBU YANG HAMIL, SIAPA YANG BERTANGGUNG JAWAB?
Maternal mortality rate in Indonesia is considered relatively high (UNICEF,
1994). It is necessary to make concrete efforts to cut down the number of women who die in the period of their pregnancy, at birth, and in the period of 42 days after birth, either caused by direct effects of pregnancy of birth, or by indirect effects of certain diseases, not to include accidents. Maternal mortality has socially broad impact since the mother’s double functions is cannot be replaced by others. Research has shown that a baby born by a mother who died at the birth, has 90 % possibility to die in the first year of his or her life. This tragedy should not have happened since 80 % of maternal mortality can be prevented (Indonesian Department of Health, 1999).
This study is meant to find an alternative method which is reliable and testable to improve the level of initiative (responsive attitudes) of pregnant women and of all elements of the surrounding social institutions to issues related to maternal mortality risk. One to mention is by comparing the use of simulation method (together with poster campaigns) with that of radio-spot broadcast method.
The study focuses on several targets, among others are 1) a case study related to the handling of high-risk pregnancy which has so far been done, as a step stone to developing an instrument to change attitude/behavior; 2) constructing an inventory or questionnaire on attitude change which will be used as a measuring instrument in the research to follow; and 3) making instruments to change attitude (in the forms of simulation sheets and posters) of which the effectiveness, validity, and reliability as intervening media will be trained to the simulation facilitators. Developing intervening media in the form of radio-spots will be in the third-year
phase of the study, and comparing the two intervening media is to be done in the year afterwards. The third and fourth studies, however, do not manifest since the budget cut is significant in limiting the production of the intervention media.
The preliminary study by using in-depth interviews with 56 subjects showed that a great majority of high-risk pregnant women had low level of understanding and initiative to various anticipatory measures needed to face emergency situations in pregnancy period and at birth. A number of social institutions in the surroundings such as neighbors and Village Community Welfare Institutions and health service providers such as Integrated Service Post and Community Health Center had not yet played significant roles. Draft of simulation sheets and posters had been made and tried out according to the plan. The questionnaire has been designed and has been tried out. The training for the facilitators has also been completed in the first year study.
