    The purpose of this study is to understand the debt behavior based on internal factors, social factor and functional factors in the environment. Theory of planned behavior is used as theoritical base. The study was conducted to test the hypothesis that opinions toward debt behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control influence directly and / or indirectly to the debt behavior, where the intention act as a mediator between the exogenous variables to the dependent variable. Subjects of the study were 182 civil servants at City Government of Yogyakarta who participated voluntarily. Path analysis showed that debt behavior is influenced by debt intention with value of b=0.359, p=0.004 (

    This research aimed to: (1) finding out whether there was conformity between the theoretical model of factors affecting students’ epistemological beliefs and the empirical models, (2) assessing whether interdependent self-construal, level of education, constructivist learning environment and metacognition predicted of epistemological beliefs as measured by belief about knowledge and belief about learning, (3) assessing whether interdependent self-construal, level of education, constructivist learning environment and metacognition predicted of epistemological beliefs as measured by belief about knowledge and (4) assessing whether interdependent self-construal, level of education, constructivist learning environment and metacognition predicted of epistemological beliefs as measured by belief about learning.The population in this research consists of the first to eight semesters students of “X” Department of STAIN Kudus , Central Java. The sample was as many as study 268 students, taken through stratified random sampling method. The data collection techniques used in this research was questionnaire in the form of scales and checklists.The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Models (SEM). The research resulted: (1) The (theoretical model) designed in the research is proper, and conforms with the data collected (empirical model), (2) The determination (R²) of the students’ epistemological beliefs is 0.80, which means that 80 percent of epistemological beliefs can be explained or predicted through the variables of interdependent self-construal, level of education and constructivist learning environment, (3) The determination (R²) of the students’ beliefs about knowledge is 0.52, which means that 52 percent can be explained or predicted through the variables of interdependent self-construal, level of education and constructivist learning environment, (4) The determination (R²) of the students’ beliefs about learning is 0.28, which means that 28 percent can be explained or predicted through the variables of interdependent self-construal, level of education and constructivist learning environment. Based on this research, examine the importance of epistemological beliefs as a basic foundation of education, it is necessary for educators to examine these factors in the teaching and learning process. Keywords: epistemological beliefs, interdependent self-construal, level of education, constructivist learning environment and metacognitio

    Expressing ideas successfully requires a writer’s ability in imagining how his/her readers will interpret his/her writing. The present research is replicating a part of Traxler and Gernsbacher’s research (1993) comparing between experimental group with selection task and control group with rating task. The experiment uses tangram geometric pictures of Traxler and Gernsbacher’s research (1993) to be described by the writers. The activity proceeds in three meetings each with one-week interval, either for the writer or the reader groups. The subjects are students of the Faculty of Psychology GMU presently writing their undergraduate thesis. The overall thirty-two students were assigned into three groups. Eight students were assigned as experimental writers with the selection task and another eight students were as control writers with the rating task. The rest were readers whose task was to read two writings of two writers of different writing groups. The data was the sum of pictures identified correctly by the readers on the basis of the writers’ description. Data analysis shows that there is no obvious difference between the experiment and control group in the improvement of writing skill (a student-t test analysis upon the difference of the mean of readers’ improvement between session 1 and 3, between experiment and control group is t=0.816;

    “Kenthir” is a stigma that commonly addressed to the psychosis sufferer in Javanese culture. This research studies about psychological dynamics of early phase of psychosis sufferer since they live in “kenthir’s” stigma and some other Javanese stigmas, and also about the influence of this stigma to their effort in doing re-integration with society in the context of Javanese culture. This qualitative research was conducted by the case study approach. The researcher was observed the psychological dynamics of four psychosis sufferers that was distributed in two regencies in Yogyakarta Special Region (Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta). Beside this psychological dynamics, the thing that is observed by the researcher is how the psychosis sufferers attempt to re-integrate to the society. The primary research data is acquired both through systematic and unsystematic interview to the sufferer and the informant (family, neighbours, village officials, clinic psychologist, Mental Hospital psychologist and significant others). The supporting data is investigated from medically records data from Mental Hospital, doctor’s prescription, status update from facebook account and other notes. The data are codified thematically grouped to be analyzed. The result shows that stigma in the Javanese society gave to the psychosis sufferers, is not always affect them during their reintegration in to the society. It solely depends on how each subject view that stigma. In fact, a patient publically called “kenthir” by the surrounding people shows successful reintegration to the society. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of work-family positive value, which is based on gender theory and ecological theory, as a mediation of the influence of husband’s support toward both job and marital satisfaction among working women. The subjects of this study were 188 female workers who lived together with their husbands and took care of children below 12 years. By applying structural equation modeling, the proposed model fit with the data (χ2 = 1,628; p=0.202 and GFI = 0.996). Furthermore, the result shows that the effect of variabel of husband’s support increases when the work-family positive value as a mediating variable is applied. The theoretical and practical implications of the result are discussed. Keywords: husband’s support, work-family positive value, job satisfaction, marital satisfactio

    Since Hofstede (1980) published his research about individualism-collectivism differences among countries, interest in cross-cultural study increased dramatically. However not all studies support each other. So the purpose of this study is to evaluate primary studies that studied individualism-collctivism differences. Articles selected from electronic data¬base (e.g. Proquest, EBSCO, and ERIC) for publication. Forty nine studies were found, but only 15 studies that were relevant. After final evaluation, only 3 studies with 7 data points that actually could be analized. This study found that there are diffe-rences between individualist and collectivist countries in horizontal collectivism. People in collectivist countries are more collectivist than people in individualist countries. In vertical individualism, horizontal indivi¬dualism, and vertical collectivism dimension, homogeneity coefficient (Q) shows that sample drawn from the same source differ systematically. However we can not do moderator analysis because of number of studies are limited. Thus, this study can not explain moderator variables that influence effectc size variation. Keywords: Individualism, Collectivism, meta-analysis

    The purpose of this paper was to explore family burden, coping, and support for psychotic patients in a Javanese setting. A combination of ethnographic and clinical methodology was employed. During my fieldwork in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, I followed 9 participants diagnosed as having first episode psychosis. Three of them met the ICD-10 criteria for Schizophrenia, five for Acute and Transient Psychotic Disorder (ATPD), and one for Schizoaffective Disor¬der. I carried out ethnographic fieldwork among nine participants and their families in their natural home setting, as well as conducting in-depth interviews. In addition, I administered the Family Crisis Oriented Personal Evaluation Scale (F-COPES) for family members and Sentence Completion Test (SCT). The result indicated that despite experiencing psychological and economic burden, families provided a high level of support for their mentally ill members which are reflected in the application of Javanese principle of ngemong. Three aspects the practice of ngemong is discussed. Keywords: family, psychotic illness, bur¬den, coping, support, Javanese cultur
