     Salah satu bentuk pendidikan dasar di Indonesia adalah sekolah dasar. Sebagai institusi yang kompleks, sekolah dasar tidak akan menjadi baik dengan sendirinya, melainkan melalui proses perubahan organisasional tertentu, yaitu dengan mengimplementasikan ide, program, layanan, metode, teknologi, proses, dan komponen-komponen sistem pendidikan lainnya yang baru dan secara kualitatif berbeda dengan keadaan sebelumnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan proses perubahan di sekolah dasar yang baik. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, diperoleh tiga kesimpulan teoretik tentang proses, faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap keberhasilan proses, dan peran agen perubahan dalam proses implementasi inovasi pendidikan di sekolah dasar yang baik

    Leadership Styles of Principals and Teachers' Working Ethos at Elementary School. The purpose of the study was to examine the effect of principals' leadership styles on teachers' enthusiasm in carrying out their professional tasks. Sixty four principals and 256 teachers of public elementary schools in Bantul, Jogjakarta, were taken by cluster purposive sampling. The data were collected through questionnaires, interview, and documentary studies. The results showed that teachers' working ethos was higher when they were led by principals using the integrated-or the people-oriented leadership style than by those using the task-or the impoverished leadership style. There was no interactional effect of the leadership styles and school quality on teachers' enthusiasm

    This descriptive-evaluative study aims at describing teachers' competence in implementing Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in Civics and Social Education. Involving 32 fourth-grade teachers, this study employed questionnaires and documentation in collecting the data. The results of descriptive analyses indicate that teachers' competence was of fair category. This fair category applies to all these aspects: CTL development, teaching-strategy selection, application of the seven CTL elements, and CTL-procedure implementation. The teachers appeared not to have difficulty implementing CTL

    Curricular Validity of the Test Items for the Elementary School and Secondary School Ebtanas. This study was carried out to know if the test items in the Ebtanas fulfilled curricular validity. Data were collected by documentary study from the Bahasa Indonesia test items administered in the elementary school, junior high school and senior high school Ebtanas since 1985/1986. The data were analyzed by percentages. It was found out that, in terms of items relevance to the curricular objectives and material representativeness in each topic, the test items did not fulfill curricular validity

    Implications of Gender Bias for Human Resource Development Management in Education Institution Characterized by Religion. The study aimed at describing gender bias and exploring its implications for human resource development management in education institution having religious characteristics. This qualitative case study involved Sunan Kalijaga Islamic Elementary School at Malang. The data were collected through in-depth interview, observation, and documentation study. The results of qualitative analyses indicate that in such education institution exists gender bias, which is reflected not in physical conditions but in human life within the institution. Gender bias is reflected in the implementation of outside-classroom activities, which might influence the teaching-learning process, and has effect on management, mainly management of human resource development and leadership

    The Effect of Exercise Methods and Motoric Abilities on Learning Outcomes in Football. This experimental study was designed to examine the effect of exercise methods on learning outcomes in football course attended by students with different motoric abilities. It involved 40 students of State University of Medan (Unimed) selected purposively. The study applied BMA Test to test students' motoric abilities and the AAHPER Football Test to identify their learning outcomes. Analyses of variance and t-test were used to analyse the data. It was found out that there was no difference in learning outcomes between the students attending physical exercise and those attending mental and physical exercise combined.     Motivation and Achievement Differences between Students of High-Achiever Group and Those of Non-High-Achiever Group. The purpose of this descriptive, comparative study was to find out the differences in learning motivation and achievement between students belonging to high-achiever group and those to non-high-achiever group. Forty one junior high school students of the former group and 40 of the latter were involved in this study. The data were obtained from a questionnaire and documentation study and analyzed using statistics of percentages and t-test. The results show that there is a significant difference between the two groups in terms of learning motivation and achievement

    This qualitative research was conducted to examine the variety of cultural values among students of D-II PGSD which shaped their conception of academik achievement. The results of interviews and observations suggest that there was no difference in conception of academik achievement among students from different ethnic groups. In addition, students' motivation to succeed went beyond their academik boundaries. These findings imply the need for designing and implementing programs for quality human resource development
