    Improvement of Skills in Classroom Management for the New Mathematics Teacher in the Junior High School. This study was an effort to improve teacher's skill in classroom management. It was a two-cycle classroom action research involving the new mathematics teacher at the SLTP I Jember. Using a descriptive qualitative analysis on the results of observation and interview, it could be concluded that the new mathematics teacher's skill in creating, keeping and recovering the optimum learning condition seemed to be improved. The result suggests that this classroom action research can be used as supervision model by the school principal. When a trouble cannot be solved by the teacher, he needs to cooperate with another teacher, counselor, school principal, and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

    Textbook is a dominant factor affecting learning outcomes. This research aimed to examine the relevance of the textbook of Bahasa Indonesia to the Elementary School Curriculum 1994 in terms of its approaches, objectives of the course, learning themes, and learning contents. In this descriptive study, the researcher's role was as a subject and as the main instrument. Through a documentary analysis, this research concluded that, in terms of its approaches, objectives, learning themes, and learning contents, the textbook of Bahasa Indonesia was relevant to the curriculum. Nevertheless, there were a number of learning items that were not accomodated in the textbook

    Developing an Individualized Learning Module to Improve the Quality of Learning Processes and Outcomes. The study was intended to develop an effective learning module, which is based on procedural-content-learning principles, for a course on material knowledge. The module was expected to improve the quality of learning processes and outcomes. Equipped with other components such as manual, material diagram, specific learning objectives, contents, pictures, exercises, and summaries, the module becomes easy to learn and understand. The research findings suggest that the module provides contribution to the learning outcomes when applied in procedural-content learning

    The Communication Education Curriculum and The Challenges of Informational Technology. Communication education has recently attracted high school graduates in Indonesia. There is a challenge of how communication education fulfills their needs and the employment market in general. Based on the case, this article suggests modification of communication curriculum to adjust educational system since Indonesia adopt two higher education levels, undergraduate and graduate. The curriculum of undergraduate focuses on practical and basic courses, while the graduate focuses on theory, philosophy and problem analysis. On relationship with the curriculum modification, the communication education institution must provide communication laboratory to support teaching and learning process suited to the development of information technology

    The purpose of this study was to describe social interaction in the parenting pattern in the Punjab community as the manifestation of their personality. This qualitative study covered the Punjab families in the Medan city. The data were collected through participant observation and open-and-close structured questionnaire, and in-depth interview. The data were also enriched by examining the archive on Punjab's personality and parenting pattern. The data collected were analyzed by the qualitative descriptive technique. The results showed that the parenting amongst Punjab community was to shape children's personality to be responsible individuals who remained holding both traditional and religious values firmly

    This explanatory survey aims to investigate teachers' understanding of inclusion program, institutions' readiness in implementing the program success. Questionnaires were distributed to 30 purposively sampled elementary teachers of special educational needs. Interviews were also carried out to validate questionnaire responses. The results of descriptive analyses reveal that teachers had little knowledge about the inclusion program, institutions were not effectively ready to enforce the program, and a number of factors, such as teachers, facilities, and parents, still doubted the program success

    This study was conducted to investigate the planning and implementation of life-skill education at SMP Negeri 2 Selong, East Lombok. In this descriptive study, the researcher’s role was both as a subject and as the main instrument. The data were obtained from in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results revealed that the planning of life-skill education was strategically and operationally running well through the school vision, mission, and programs. The implementation of life-skill education consisted of personal skills or self awareness, thinking skills, social skills, academic skills and vocational skills which were integrated in the teaching learning process and in all the school activities. Life-skill education, which cannot be separated from the three aspects of education (cognition, affection and psychomotor), enabled the students to prepare themselves for possible life problems and to solve them

    The descriptive survey is intended to measure the General Motor Ability (GMA) of soccer school students. Involving 227 junior high school students, the study employed GMA test consisting of test in standing broad jump, zigzag run, and medicine ball put. Test results were analyzed using Barrow's T-score, resulting in the findings that overall 17% of the students were categorized as good players, 71% as average, and 12% as poor
