    This classroom action research tries to improve the teaching and learning process of literature appreciation using constructivist approach. More specifically, the constructivist approach is implemented during pre-reading, whilst-reading, and post-reading. Purposively sampled, nine fifth grade students were then categorized into fast, moderate, and slow readers based on their pre-test scores.     The aims of the study were to examine the effects of various learning strategies, that is, using examples, non-examples, or text-books, on the outcomes of learning social science. Pretest and post test were assigned to the subjects, 129 fifth graders, who had been devided, in three groups. Multiple comparisons of the three groups indicate that the subjects taught using examples and non-examples out performed those taught using textbooks

    The aim of this study was to construct a test measuring students’ ability in playing volley ball. The sample were taken from male students of Physical Education Department at State University of Malang using cluster proportional random sampling. Tests and observation were utilized to collect the data. The Pearson product moment correlations and the Wherry-Doollitle multiple correlations suggest that the test items of serving and down passing were reliable and valid to measure the students’ ability in playing volley ball

    The aim of this study was to reveal the developmental aspects of a model of vocational education as an empowering process. The subjects were santri of Pondok Pesantren Darussalam, Ciamis, West Java. Data were collected by participant observation, inteview, and document analysis. The technique of data analysis was qualitative analysis. It was found out that, in management aspect, a guide for vocational education was successfully made. The objectives of each kind of vocational education and the application of learning strategies were successfully arranged. In the evaluation and development aspects, the varied evaluation techniques, the systematized steps of evaluation, a set of evaluation formats, the criteria of the success of the program, and the formulation of follow-up activities were successfully constructed

    The expanding environments approach (the EEA) is one of the approaches to organizing elementary social studies curriculum. The approach emphasizes the simple concepts that are intimate to students’ environments and then progress toward the complex concepts pertaining to the students’ remote environments as the students move from the first grade to the sixth grade. It has been employed by many social studies educators since the early years of this century and has dominated the organization of social studies curriculum for several decades in the United States Education.     Skripsi merupakan tugas mahasiswa yang hendak mengakhiri masa belajar. Beberapa mahasiswa terpaksa menunda yudisium karena belum dapat menyelesaikan skripsi. Kadang-kadang dosen pembimbing membuat pertimbangan tertentu agar mahasiswa bimbingannya cepat selesai. Ini menyebabkan penurunan kualitas atau kriteria kelulusan. Di sisi lain adanya kriteria yang ketat memberikan arahan kepada mahasiswa agar dapat mengerti dan berdisiplin ilmiah yang tinggi. Dalam tulisan ini disampaikan sejumlah pertimbangan, yakni: kriteria teoretik versus realitas, penelitian lapangan versus kajian pustaka, pengembangan ilmu versus penelitian kasus, sampel besar versus sampel kecil, dan penelitian terpisah versus penelitian terpadu dengan PPL/KKN

    Gender and School Management: An Analysis of the System of Managerial Positions. It has been necessary to study gender issues continously since women dominated schools as teachers, especially in terms of their promotion for managerial positions. The main problem of women’s promotion is on the term gender itself, which is a stereotype resulted from a ‘masculine’ culture. Men and women are then perceived differently in their managerial positions: women face more obstacles than men. Some models which can be used to explain the obstacles are women position, discrepancy, and meritocracy models, in addition to the organization structure and the psychological view. In a study, the obstacles would not be apparent unless qualitative paradigm with micro-subjective scope were utilized. Therefore, employing a case study method for investigation would make it possible to reveal the obstacles faced by women more comprehensively
