Get PDFThe oil painting on metal board (40 x 30 cm) under study was bought from the antiquarian French market and bears a very common representation that derives from one of Michelangelo’s designs: “Cristo Crocifisso con due angeli dolenti”. The present paper not only refers to a stylistic and historical-artistic assessment, but also alludes to knowledge in a general sense through diagnostic technique and preservation conditions. The results of the diagnostic study, together with the stylistic analysis, have confirmed that the painting is an ancient one that dates back to the first decades of the XVIIth century
Saint Lucia's worship by fishermans and sailors in Trapani between 16th and 17th centuries
Get PDFThis work is focused on the identification of the whole body of a stony epigraphic and figure document, belonging to the town of Trapani. Up to know this document, of the XVII century, has been considered preserved only partly, and for what regards the prominent remaining part, that was the figure part, it was known only thanks to an Eighteenth century transcription endowed with a drawing. On the one hand, regarding the figure plaque, it is shown the monumental complex which it belongs to i.e. the Church of Santa Lucia in Trapani, today fallen into disuse, in relation to the historical evolution of the urban area of Trapani; on the other hand, it is highlightened its historical-social and historical-religious importance, since it expresses the devotions of the fishermen and seamen social classes of Trapani, who asked this document as memorial of a very lucky coral fishing. The epigraphic and figure text allows to read the most deep-rooted faith trends into some definite social classes of the society of the Trapani society, from the end of the Medieval Age till now. This document can be considered as an extraordinary nautical chart about the whole coast of Trapani, as it equipped with correct indicationsabout distances and paths, and geomorphologic and toponymic exact indications

The note refers not only to a stylistic and historical-artistical evaluation but also to the knowledge, through diagnostic techniques, of the application to characterize components of matter, and of the manufacture execution technique and preservation conditions. This investigation denies the attribution to the painter Gerrit van Hontorst, but it does not exclude a dating within the XVII century

Get PDFDuring the last years, the constant increase of the request for transport by road and by rail, connected to the economic and social development process, has provoked the birth of the phenomenon of the vibrations induced by the means of transports, with the result of stimulating the resident population's curiosity and the technical personnel's interest. Into the historic centres of the towns, it is possible to trace a series of concomitant factors that tend further to increase this process: the road superstructure mostly used in the historical centres are often stony, and their usage is due mainly to aesthetic reasons; the no-measurement or the lack of maintenance are often the causes of high levels of roughness; the buildings set into the historical centres have got a historical-art value of primary importance and some part of them (such as mosaics, pictures, etc.) are very sensitive to vibrations, being sticking to the outside walls; According to what said above, the noisy and vibrations provoked by the road traffic are becoming even more one of the main cause of the environmental damage
E-learning in University: a case of study on cultural heritage
Get PDFHow much important and fundamental instruments, formation and information methods, different from the traditional ones in the different fields of human and experimental sciences, are today and will be in the future, is highlightened in this article. According to this, some problems typical of our instructive institutions (such as universities, public administrations, factories) and their relevant possible solutions are underlined. These solutions can be achieved thanks to the introduction of the "e-learning" i.e. the possibility of learning through the web. It is important to note that the usage of data processing systems and telecom technologies could improve the access to the learning resources and to meet the different requirements. A case that can be considered emblematic, with reference to our specific experience, is represented by the cultural heritage field and by the university teledidactic and telecom courses as "Cultural heritage Operator"
Discovery of the grave and identification of the remains of Matteo Maria Boiardo in Saint Mary's church, Scandiano (Reggio Emilia)
Get PDFAccording to the documentary information and to the prospectings performed by means of the georadar, beneath the floor of the Church of Santa Maria of Scandiano (RE), it has been possible to locate the sepulchral crypts where the poet Matteo Maria Boiardo and other members of his family, such as his father Giovanni, his grandfather Feltrino and maybe his wife Taddea Gonzaga and one of his sons, Camillo, must have been buried. The exploration of these sepulchral crypts has led to the recovery of the skeletal remains belonging altogether to at least 20 persons (adults and children). Among them, 3 have been discovered into a sepulchral room and the rest into an adjacent tomb. Among the first ones, a person, with the same sex, age of death, sturdiness, height and physical characteristics of the poet Boiardo, has been identified. As confirmation of this probable identity, the genetic profile of this man, got from the nuclear dna sample taken from his body, has come out to be compatible with a possible father/child relationship, this result has been compared to the one gotten from the find found into the adjacent room where the poet's father and grandfather had to be buried. The body of a second person, of female sex and well on in years, with a genetic profile different from the previous ones, could be identified with Boiardo's wife. For what regards the body of the third man, besides it is not possible to exclude that it belongs to Camillo, the poet's son dead when he was very young, it has not been possible yet, to get enough proofs able to confirm this theory

Landscape protection procedures to be adopted during the development of structural works are also discussed
