Improving Students’ Activities through the Implementation of Mind Map Script Type (SM2) at SMAN 1 Pulau Punjung
This research is motivated from the deficiency of student’s activity in the learning process. The outcome of religious learning process is still low. It shows under 75. By applying cooperative learning model Mind Map Script types, it is expected to be able to enhance students’ motivation through working group learning. This study used a qualitative approach to obtain data and analysis through reflective studies, participatory and collaborative. Mind Map Script is applied to increase learning activity and progress. This study was conducted in SMAN 1 Pulau Punjung with 2 cycles from the observation. Student activities increase from 54% to 75% in the second cycle. Meanwhile, students’ daily test showed an increasing from an average of 65 to 73 in first cycle, and 79 in second cycles. From the first and second cycle of this Classroom Action Research can be concluded that cooperative learning model Mind Map Script types enable to increase students’ activity and learning progress especially in Islamic education studies of grade X student of SMAN 1 PULAU PUNJUNG DHARMASRAYA District.    Key word: activity and learning progress, cooperative model mind map script type (SM2)Copyright © 2015 by Al-Ta'lim All right reserve
Using Informal Articles in Extensive Reading (ER) Program: A Personal Experience
In this digital age, informal articles which contain some valuable informations and extensive input to develop the learners’ language proficiency are easily found on internet or other reading sources. Unfortunately most literature shows that informal articles are not widely used in extensive reading (henceforth ER) program. For this reason, the paper introduces steps procedure in using informal articles as authentic material in one semester ER program for Indonesian EFL college learners. The procedure is developed on the basis of my great interest in creating innovative way in teaching ER at one of the State Institute for Islamic Studies in Indonesia. The Relationship Between Listening Strategy Performance and Critical Listening Ability of Indonesian Students
It is believed that students’ critical listening ability can be improved through proper listening strategy performance. This action research (Fraenkel Wallen, 2007) was conducted in line with the assumption that students of Indonesia Literature and Language Education, Bengkulu University and Bengkulu Muhammadiyah University could reach proficient level provided that they were taught properly. The goal of this research was to reveal listening strategy performance related to students’ critical listening ability. The result of the research showed that the relationship between listening strategy performance and critical listening ability of students tended to be directly proportional in which high students’ listening strategy performance tended to be followed by high critical listening ability and vise versa. Students’ listening strategy performance in improving students’ critical listening ability was able to (1) effective activities, students create active, effective, and creative learning process independently in measuring and developing in each step of listening learning model, (2) enough listening learning media can improve students’ critical listening skill (3) critical listening strategy performance can increase students’ critical listening ability. Copyright © 2015 by Al-Ta'lim All right reserve
Brain Based Teaching Model as Transformation of Learning Paradigm in Higher Education
Brain -based teaching model is a new paradigm that can facilitate students in optimizing student learning by the functioning the brain as a whole. Lessons are held today assume that all students equally so that learning provide the same services to each student in the class. With this model, the students are given different stimulation according to their abilities and needs. Base on brain learning theory -based teaching, the learning should pay attention to the five needs of the brain in general. The fifth factor is the need for a sense of comfort, the need for interaction, the need for knowledge, the need for the activity and the need for self-reflection. Educational Values of the Dream and Reality Psychoanalysis In “Sang Pemimpi†(the Dreamer), a Novel by Andrea Hirata
This article tries to look at psychoanalysis study of a novel concerning on the dream and reality in Sang Pemimpi (the Dreamer) by Andrea Hirata. In general, his work portrays mostly about the condition and situational life of Belitung community. Here, Andrea shows his ability as the representative of Belitung's young generation succeeded in fulfilling his dream by explaining the real life of the people in his hometown and villages having bitter experience values in the rich environment. Besides, he tries to describe the difficult life faced by the villagers. The dream in this novel is not only his, but also all dreams of the Belitung community as the manifestation of their life condition comparing to other areas or provinces in the Indonesia. Further, through this novel (work), it is implied an important massage directed to both Indonesian authority and Belitung mayor in order to be able to increase the level of education of grass root community, especially for those who live in the remote area or a very isolated area, such as Belitung. This is the real dream of all participants in the island which remains unsolved

Educational management in its strategic, managerial, and operational point of view determines the quality of education. Educational leadership - being the most important aspect of the educational management, together with the standard and human resources comprise the quality of education. The good quality of education is, therefore, determined by the leadership. It follows then that good performance of leadership brings about the standard as well as human resources of education. Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Kartu terhadap Kemampuan Membaca Siswa Kelas I SDN 10 Lubuk Buaya Padang
Reading is one of the most important language skills in the Elementary School since it is a tool to learn other subjects. It is so because whatever you learn, you will need reading skills. However, several researches show that Elementary school students’ reading competence were still low. Therefore, the current research problem is addressed to answer the question: “Is there any impact of using cards to students’ reading skill at Elementary School?â€Â In line with the question, then, the study aims at investigating the impact of cards to first grade students’ reading skills in the Elementary School. As a quasi experimental research, the datum was collected through reading test. The reliability of instrument was tested through split method, while content validity was applied to the whole content. With the t-test, the research shows that the use of Cards gave significant impact to students’ reading skill in the Elementary School. Therefore, it is fair to suggest that teachers at Elementary school should use cards to teach students in early reading activity.Copyright © 2014 by Al-Ta'lim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v21i1.6
Character Education Through the Constructivist Design of Islamic Education Subject at Elementary School Pembangunan Jaya II in Gedangan Sidoarjo
The objective of this study are (1) to determine the meaning of character education in the elementary school of Pembangunan Jaya II of Gedangan Sidoarjo, (2) to identify how the planning of character education through constructivist design on the Islamic education subjects in the elementary school  of  Pembangunan Jaya II of Gedangan Sidoarjo. Observation, in-depth interviews and documentation analysis were used in this study. The finding showed that: (1) elementary school Pembangunan Jaya II in Gedangan Sidoarjo has developed character education. The character education that is developed is  fond of learning character, creative character, independent character and noble, (2) constructivist design that is developed by SD Pembangunan  Jaya II Gedangan Sidoarjo has a component in accordance with the constructivist theory, namely, engage, explore, explain, extend, and evaluate. By the application of habituation based on the constructivist design make the students to have the attitude of eager to learn, creative, independent, and noble character in accordance with the main purpose of the school. Copyright © 2014 by Al-Ta'lim All right reserve
