    Sustainable Development: Learning the Quran Using the Tartil Method

    This study aims to investigating the effectiveness of using the tartil method in improving students' ability to read the Quran in elementary schools. This study uses a quantitative method with an experimental approach (true experimental pretest-posttest control group design). Data were taken from sixtysix students by means of pre-test and post-test of reading the Quran skills. All students involved are samples of the population which are used as research objects. The research data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS Windows 22.0). Overall, the results of the study indicate that the use of the tartil method in learning the Quran is very effective because it can improve students' abilities in reading the Quran. Therefore, the tartil method can be used as an alternative in learning the Quran

    Exploring the English Needs of Mechanical Engineering Students in ESP Class: Indonesian University Context

    English for Specific Purposes in tertiary level puts its importance to Need Analysis (NA) process for syllabus design. This present research is concerned with designing ESP syllabus for Mechanical Engineering students in tertiary level through need analysis. The research aims to identify the immediate needs of the Mechanical Engineering students and design appropriated syllabus based on students’ needs using Target Situation Analysis (TSA) and Present Situation Analysis (PSA). In order to achieve the research’s objectives, a questionnaire was administered to a total 50 respondents. The finding of the research shows that among 4 basic English skills, listening skill emerged as the most important skill that students’ really need, followed by speaking, reading, and writing. Thus, this research suggests that ESP teachers should design more varied activities on listening course that students will have the competence to apply the skills later in future life context

    Discovery Learning Model on Mathematics Learning at Islamic Private Junior High School Darussalam

    The study aims to determine whether the mathematics learning outcomes of students who learn discovery learning are better than students who learn conventionally. It also aims to find out whether the mathematics learning outcomes of students with high initial abilities and low initial abilities with discovery learning are better than students who learn conventionally. This type of research is a Quasi Experiment with quantitative approach design and used was a randomized control group only design with treatment by blocks. The population in this study were students of class VII  Islamic private junior high school or MTsS Darussalam Ampiang Parak, Sutera Sub District, Pesisir Selatan. The research sample was randomly selected,namely students of class VII.1 as the experimental class and VII.2 as the control class. The research data were obtained from the results of the initial ability test and the final test given after the experiment was carried out. Data analysis using t test.The results of the analysis show that: 1) The mathematics learning outcomes of students with discovery learning model are better than those taught by conventional learning, 2) Mathematics learning outcomes of students with high initial abilities and students with low initial abilities with discovery learning learning models of learning arebetter than students with high initial abilities. taught by conventionallearning.     Students’ Self-Adjustment with Boarding School Environment in MAN Insan Cendekia Lubuk Alung

    This research aims to describe and compare the self-adjustment of boarding school students with the school environment in terms of gender (comparative descriptive study of students at MAN Insan Cendekia Lubuk Alung, West Sumatra). This type of research is descriptive-comparative with a questionnaire instrument. The population of all students of class X, sampling with purposive random sampling technique in order to obtain a sample of 82 students. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis, and to test the differences used t test. The results showed that in general the self-adjustment of boarding school students with the school environment of MAN Insan Cendekia Lubuk Alung, West Sumatra was classified high and there was a significance difference from the self-adjustment of male and female students. Therefore, school counselors can provide various types of counseling and guidance services to students of MAN Insan Cendekia Lubuk Alung, West Sumatra so that they are able to overcome difficulties in their self-adjustment by fostering self-confidence and training students how to adapt to the new environment and atmosphere in accordance with the rule

    Using Language Games to Enhance EFL Students’ Speaking Skill in Indonesia

    This research aims at enhancing EFL students’ speaking skill through the use of language games. The research was designed in the form of Classroom Action Research. It was conducted in two cycles and six meetings. Each cycle consisted of plan, implementation, observation, and Reflection. The researchers employed an observation checklist, field notes, questionnaire, and test to collect the data. The main criterion of success of this research was that the students’ scores on the speaking test should achieve a score of 70, and it must be achieved by 75% of the total number of students. The second criterion was that the lecturer’s classroom performance should meet the “Success†category. The results of the first speaking test showed that from 24 students in the classroom, 15 students got scores of 70 or higher. It was equal to 62.5 %. In cycle 2, the total number of students who got scores of 70 or higher was 21. It was equal to 87.5 %. The result of this research indicated that the use of language games can develop the students’ speaking skill

    The Tajweed Competencies of TPQ Teachers and Their Influence on BTQ Learning Outcomes

    This study was motivated by the importance of Tajweed to be mastered by a Muslim in learning and reciting the Qur'an, especially for TPQ teachers. However, based on certification test results, the Tajweed competencies of TPQ teachers were very diverse. Based on this reality, researchers had the interest to conduct an in-depth study on Tajweed competencies of TPQ teachers and their influence on BTQ learning outcomes. This study aimed to find out Tajweed competencies of TPQ teachers and their influence on BTQ learning outcomes in TPQ. This study used qualitative and quantitative approaches (mixed methods). The study was conducted on 7 TPQ teachers and heads as well as 20 TPQ students in Lamposi Tigo Nagari Sub-District Payakumbuh City West Sumatra. Data were collected through interviews, observation, documentation study, and written tests. Data were analyzed using qualitative analysis, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, as well as quantitative analysis on BTQ learning outcomes in TPQ using Microsoft Excel 2007. Based on the results, firstly, practically, all TPQ teachers in Latina Payakumbuh City. mastered the Tajweed, but theoretically, not all TPQ teachers understood certain terms and rules. Second, BTQ learning activities were not evaluated in a clear and measurable manner. Third, BTQ learning outcomes showed the insignificant influence of the Tajweed competencies on BTQ learning outcomes. The Tajweed competencies of TPQ teachers only had a 19.38% influence on BTQ learning outcomes, while the remaining 80.62% was influenced by other factor

    The Effect of Online Lecture on College Students’ Learning Achievement During the Covid-19 Pandemic

    College student learning achievement shows a reflection of mastery of knowledge both in quality and quantity which is influenced by several factors. This study was conducted to determine the influence of lecturers' teaching factors, interactive media, and learning motivation on college student learning achievement during the Covid-19 pandemic. The approach used in the reseach is quantitative with 50 college students from three different universities as reseach subjects. Data were collected through a questionnaire instrument google form by method simple random sampling or randomly selected. Then analyzed using multiple logistic regression analysis technique with the help of SPSS for windows. This study shows the results that the teaching of lecturer has no effect on increasing college student learning achievement, but interactive media and learning motivation have a positive effect on college student learning achievement. This study recommends further research to examine the effect of lecturer competence on online lectures during the Covid-19 pandemic

    Integrating Science and Religion at Malaysian and Indonesian Higher Education

    This article analyzes the integration model between science and religion in Malaysian and Indonesian Higher Education. So far, the dichotomy of science and religion is considered to be one of the causes for the exit of the Islamic world from the Western world. In this century, educational institutions in the Islamic world began to re-select the integration pattern of science. This study uses qualitative methods, by collecting data through observation, visiting two higher education institutions studied, and conducting in-depth interviews with relevant parties, namely the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in Malaysia and Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) in Indonesia. Data collection is also done by searching documents and referral sources in various data sources available online. From the research conducted, it was found that, integration carried out by Islamic universities in Malaysia and Indonesia was to open faculties and study programs without any religious or public claims. Everything is the same, and there are no restrictions on the rules for students based on religion to enter into it. So, education is inclusive, it can be for anyone. This model succeeded in advancing Islamic educational institutions

    The Adiwiyata Islamic Boarding School Management (A Study of Participatory Leadership Style)

    In Aceh Province, Dayah Perbatasan Darul Amin is an Islamic Boarding school institution that has twice had achievement as the cleanest and healthiest boarding school as part of adiwiyata-based education institution concept. Such achievement by the Islamic boarding school can inspire and terminate a syndrome that a boarding house is a slump, dirty and unhealthy place. Also, it can change the public paradigm that boarding school is a very representative place to study. This research analyzes the Islamic boarding school management model in implementing the adiwiyata concept through participative leadership. The research approach paradigm is the qualitative one. The research used a diary method (DM). This article is an experience of Darul Amin Islamic Boarding School in implementing the adiwiyata program by implementing an effective Islamic boarding school. Results of the research show that adiwiyata program management is conducted through participative leadership, namely (1) formulation of adiwiyata Islamic boarding school, (2) building intern consolidation, (3) implementation of cleanliness management, (4) procurement of necessary infrastructure, (5) program evaluation and (6) organizational development. All elements' active contribution in realizing the adiwiyata Islamic boarding school can improve students' characteristics to live clean and love their environment. The participative leadership of the Kyai is proven to be able to improve the effectiveness of adiwiyata Islamic boarding school management

    The Correlation between Lecturers’ Performance in Supervising Thesis and Thesis Quality in IAIN Palu

    This article aims to determine lecturers’ performance in supervising thesis with thesis quality of students of Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training IAIN Palu. This is a quantitative study investigating 285 students of Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training IAIN Palu. who had finished their thesis examinations in 2020 by using proportional sampling technique? The data collection techniques were surveys, observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that the performance of the lecturers in supervising the thesis was in good category with an average (mean) score of 79.79 and the quality of the thesis was in the good category with the average score (mean) of 81.16. There is a significant correlation between the performance of the lecturer in supervising the thesis and the thesis quality of the students
