    THE INFLUENCE OF BRAND IMAGE AND PRODUCT QUALITY ON SMARTPHONE PURCHASE DECISIONS APPLE CASE STUDY ON MILLENNIALS IN KOTABUMI TANGERANG

    This research is motivated by the phenomenon of smartphone development, where competition between companies is getting tighter on smartphones. Apple is a company engaged in hardware and software, including Apple's hardware is the Iphone. Apple proved to be one of the big companies, it came from Apple's global sales reaching 150 million units, but in Indonesia according to TBI from 2011 to 2013 the percentage was only able to control less than 5%. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of brand image and product quality on the purchase of a decision iPhone. This type of research is explanatory research, with data collection through questionnaires, literature studies, and interviews. The sampling technique uses the census technique using a questionnaire of research instruments. The sample in this study amounted to 58 respondents who were iPhone users in S1 FISIP Diponegoro University students. This study uses linear regression analysis techniques and significance tests are used to prove the hypothesis using SPSS for windows version 20.0. The results show that brand image (X1), and product quality (X2), both jointly and individually, have a positive effect on the purchase decision of the dependent variable (Y). Simultaneously, brand image, product quality, affects purchasing decisions by 40.7% according to multiple regression

    Studens' Perceptions of English Club in Enhancing Speaking Skill

    This study explores students’ perception of English Club as a platform for enhancing their speaking skills. The English Club provides a supportive and interactive environment where students can improve their speaking skills through group discussions, role playing, interactive game, storytelling and presentation. This study was conducted at English Club of English Study program, Universitas Timor. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the data were collected through observation and interviews with 5 students who actively participate in the English Club. The findings presented that most students perceive the English Club as beneficial in improving their speaking ability especially in pronunciation, fluency and vocabulary. Additionally, students appreciate the informal learning atmosphere which reduce their fear and anxiety in speaking. This study concludes English teachers can improve students’ English language proficiency by implementing or developing the English Club's teaching methodology and creating a more relaxed and enjoyable learning atmosphere

    Interactive Learning Through ‘Si Ito’ Comics: Promoting Sumatera’s Eco-Tourism and Education

    This research discusses an eco-friendly bilingual Ito comic integrated application aimed at promoting Sumatra tourism, emphasizing comedic content that can enhance foreign tourist visitation to locations in North Sumatra. Data was gathered from the 2022 publication of Ito Comic. This comic was produced by a researcher and her esteemed colleagues in the Ito Comic Team. This research seeks to promote tourism in North Sumatra while fostering entrepreneurship through the production of comic books that advocate for eco-friendly initiatives. This study was executed using qualitative research methods. Assessment of market prospects involving 86 females and 37 males aged 10 to 30 years. Data indicated that 33% of respondents expressed a strong interest, while 55% indicated a general interest in reading Si Ito comics, which are produced from recycled paper and feature comic applications available in the market. The results indicate that Si Ito comics can serve as a medium for promoting tourism in North Sumatra to an international audience. In addition to endorsing eco-friendly initiatives, Si Ito's comic books serve as a vehicle for promoting tourism in North Sumatra through bilingual content, functioning as a learning medium for foreign language acquisition. 

    The Influence of Using Jimmy Fallon Talk Show on Students’ English Speaking Achievement

    This study employed a quantitative approach with a true experimental method using a pretest-posttest control group design to examine the influence of using Jimmy Fallon Talk Show on students' speaking achievement. The sample consisted of two classes, each with 32 students, selected through cluster random sampling. Data were collected through speaking tests administered before and after the treatment and analyzed using normality tests and independent t-tests. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental class compared to the control class, with a higher average posttest score in the group that used the talk show as a learning medium. These findings have implications for teachers, students, and future researchers and provide new insights into the influence of using Jimmy Fallon Talk Show as a medium to enhance students' speaking achievement

    English-Indonesian Deviation On Translation Of Eclipse Novel

    This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with content analysis methods on novels translated from English into Indonesian. This study was conducted to investigate the type of translation deviation at the syntactic level, in the question sentences used in dialogue of Stephenie Meyer’s Eclipse novel. The source data on the study was taken from Eclipse novel as the source text and Gerhana novel as the target text. The novel has a good translation result, but there are some grammatical deviations when translated into the target text. Translation deviations by using Newmark’s theory. The results of the study showed that (1) translation deviations found in question sentences that are syntactic, lexical, and word arrangement deviations; (2) the causes of such deviations are (1) the presence of untranslated words, grammatical errors, and the use of individual languages; (3) the impact of these deviations is that the sentence becomes ungrammatical, the sentence is not commensurate, there is interference in Indonesian, the text is impolite, the text is ambiguous, and the text is unclear. In general, it can be concluded that the occurrence of deviations at this syntactic level has more influence on the grammatical aspect due to the difference in sentence structure in two different languages. Translators strive to translate the text so that it is easily understood by the reader and adapted to the target reader so that many grammatical aspects are not translated.

    The Effectiveness of the Reading Corner in the Independent Curriculum Program to Enhance Literacy Culture for Early Childhood at RA Islamic Mahardika

    This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the reading corner program in improving literacy culture among early childhood students at RA Islamic Mahardika under the Independent Curriculum framework. Literacy culture plays a crucial role in shaping children's reading and writing skills from an early age. The research employs a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 10 children as the sample. Data collection was conducted through observation and documentation of children's voluntary visits to the reading corner. Statistical analysis using SPSS version 26 includes the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Paired Sample t-Test, and Cohen’s d effect size measurement. The results indicate a significant increase in literacy culture after implementing the reading corner program, as demonstrated by the increase in children's reading, writing, and storytelling engagement. The Paired Sample t-Test yielded a p-value of 0.038 (p < 0.05), confirming a statistically significant improvement. Additionally, the effect size of 1.64 (Cohen’s d) suggests a strong impact of the program. These findings highlight the importance of structured literacy interventions in early childhood education, reinforcing the necessity of integrating engaging literacy activities within the Independent Curriculum framework

    PENGARUH MODEL PREDICT OBSERVE EXPLAIN (POE) BERBANTUAN MEDIA CANVA DALAM KETERAMPILAN MENULIS TEKS FABEL DI KELAS VII SMPN 2 CIKARANG PUSAT

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh penerapan model Predict, Observe, Eksplain (POE) berbantuan media Canva terhadap keterampilan menulis teks fabel pada siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Cikarang Pusat. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi-exsperimental dengan desain pretest-posttest control group. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelompok, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan yang menggunakan model pembelajaran POE berbantuan media Canva dan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Cikarang Pusat yang berjumlah 58 siswa. Data yang dikumpulkan menggunakan tes dan observasi, sedangkan analisis data dilaksanakan dengan menerapkan seragkaian uji statistick, mencakup, uji normalitas, homogenitas, serta uji hipotesis menerapkan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 27. Berdasarkan nilai rata-rata hasil posttest keterampilan menulis teks fabel setelah diterapkan model predict, observe, explain lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan nilai rata-rata hasil pretest sebelum diterapkan model predict, observe, explain. Nilai rata-rata pretest yang diperoleh sebelum diterapkan model predict, observe, explain yaitu 48,69. Setelah dilakukan tindakan dengan perlakuan model pembelajaran predict, observe, explain, maka diperoleh nilai rata-rata posttest yaitu 83,69. Pernyataan diatas disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran predict, observe, explain yang diterapkan pada pembelajaan Bahasa Indonesia berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis teks fabel pada siswa kelas VII SMPN 2 Cikarang Pusat.Kata kunci: Predict Observe Explain, Canva, Menulis, Teks Fabel 

    TUTURAN EKSPRESIF BAHASA PALEMBANG PADA KOMENTAR INSTAGRAM PALEMBANG UPDATE

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tuturan ekspresif bahasa Palembang pada kolom komentar Instagram Palembang Update. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu postingan dan caption dalam Instagram Palembang Update yang membahas berita yang sedang terjadi di kota Palembang dari tanggal 01 s.d. 30 April 2024. Data yang diambil dalam penelitian ini berupa komentar pengguna Instagram yang berbahasa Palembang dalam postingan Instagram Palembang Update yang mengandung tuturan ekspresif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumen dan teknik simak. Analisis data menggunakan metode analisis isi konten. Komentar yang terdapat dalam postingan Instagram Palembang Update yang membahas berita terkini di kota Palembang memang banyak digunakan untuk menyampaikan tuturan-tuturan yang mengandung makna ekspresif. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan 14 jenis tindak tutur ekspresif  yaitu terdiri dari 9 tuturan ekspresif mengucapkan terima kasih, 26 tuturan bersyukur, 29 ekspresif berharap, 5 ekspresif kagum, 46 ekspresif marah, 13 tuturan ekspresif memuji, 33 ekspresif menyalahkan, 5 ekspresif bingung, 25 ekspresif mengkritik, 53 ekspresif mengejek, 83 ekspresif mengeluh, 4 ekspresif kecewa, 11 ekspresif penasaran, dan 13 ekspresif menyindir. Khususnya, banyak ditemukan tuturan ekspresif mengeluh, mengejek, dan marah yang secara langsung bermakna kekesalan pada keadaan kota Palembang yang dalam rentang waktu saat ini tidak sesuai dengan harapan.            Kata kunci: Pragmatik, Tuturan Ekspresif, Bahasa, Palembang, Instagram

    Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Berbasis Kearifan Lokal “Istana Maimun” untuk Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA)

    Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) merupakan salah satu upaya internasionalisasi bahasa Indonesia sekaligus diplomasi budaya. Namun, bahan ajar BIPA yang tersedia saat ini kurang mengintegrasikan aspek kearifan lokal secara variatif dan kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar BIPA berbasis kearifan lokal dengan tema Istana Maimun sebagai representasi budaya Melayu Deli. Metode penelitian dan pengembangan yang digunakan mencakup beberapa tahap, yaitu analisis kebutuhan, perencanaan desain produk, pengembangan bahan ajar, validasi oleh ahli, uji coba dengan pembelajar asing, serta revisi produk. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan mampu memberikan pengalaman belajar yang relevan dan menarik melalui integrasi nilai-nilai budaya lokal yang kaya. Penggunaan media interaktif, seperti video, kuis, dan animasi, dalam bahan ajar semakin meningkatkan daya tarik pembelajaran. Bahan ajar ini tidak hanya meningkatkan kompetensi linguistik pembelajar, tetapi juga memperkaya wawasan mereka tentang budaya Indonesia, khususnya budaya Melayu Deli. Selain itu, pengajar BIPA mendapatkan variasi pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih relevan dengan latar belakang pembelajar. Dengan demikian, bahan ajar ini berkontribusi dalam pelestarian budaya lokal, mendukung diplomasi budaya, dan mendukung internasionalisasi bahasa Indonesia. Penggunaan tema Istana Maimun dalam bahan ajar menjadi langkah strategis untuk memperkenalkan kekayaan budaya Sumatera Utara secara global.Kata Kunci: bahan ajar, bipa, budaya melayu, istana maimun, kearifan lokal

    PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN INKUIRI BERBANTUAN MEDIA FILM KOMEDI TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS ANEKDOT SISWA KELAS X SMA SWASTA BUDI AGUNG MARELAN

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan menulis teks anekdot siswa kelas X SMA Swasta Budi Agung mengunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri tanpa berbantuan media film komedi. Teknik yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teknik Simple Random Sampling, dilakukan dengan menentukan dan membagi sampel jika yang diteliti sangat luas. Instrumen penilaian yang digunakan yaitu kelengkapan struktur dan kelengkapan kaidah kebahasaan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode eksperimen, dengan jenis penelitian Quasi Experimental Design. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji persyaratan analisis data, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian pada kelas eksperimen dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran inkuiri berbantuan media film komedi diperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 83,88. Pemerolehan nilai siswa di kelas eksperimen tergolong kategori sangat sangat baik dengan persentasi 58,33%. Kelas kontrol dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran inkuiri berbantuan media cerita bergambar memperoleh nilai rata-rata 65. Pemerolehan hasil menulis teks anekdot siswa di kelas kontrol berada pada rentang dikategori cukup dengan persentasi 41,66%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, membuktikan bahwasannya model pembelajaran inkuiri berbantuan media film komedi lebih memiliki pengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis teks anekdot siswa kelas X SMA Swasta Budi Agung Marelan dibandingkan dengan menggunakan media cerita bergambar.Kata Kunci: Inkuiri, Media Film, Teks Anekdot, Menulis
