Income distribution plays an important role in the economy in both conventional and Islamic economics. In conventional economics, income distribution often focuses on market efficiency, but this can lead to inequality and social disparities. In contrast, Islamic economics emphasizes the principles of justice, respect for the Shari'a, and equitable distribution of wealth, using instruments such as zakat, infaq, and waqf to reduce inequality and achieve social welfare. This study uses a literature review method, this study identifies the challenges faced in implementing both income distribution systems. The main challenges in conventional economics include economic inequality caused by unequal access to education and resources, while in Islamic economics, the challenges lie in the implementation of distribution mechanisms that are not yet optimal. This study concludes that although both face challenges, the Shari'a-based distribution system is more inclusive and oriented towards social welfare, making it a fairer alternative in the long run

This study examines the implementation of community empowerment through social entrepreneurship. This study employs previous research sources as references in its analysis and review process and then uses VosViewer to create a concept map or mapping of commonly studied themes. This study employs an article analysis method that utilizes VosViewer. The process involves gathering articles from previous studies, indexed in the Scopus database, which closely aligns with the research topic of community empowerment through social entrepreneurship. Once we have collected these articles, we will conduct an analysis using VosViewer, which facilitates concept mapping through network and density analyses. This study highlights community empowerment's significance in improving social conditions. The study focuses on the economy, community welfare, and addressing the current challenges and social constraints. The limitations of this study are the lack of previous research or reference sources that study social entrepreneurs specifically and in detail. Several previous research results, which very minimally examine the concept of social entrepreneurship as a means of community empowerment, bear this out

Geopolitical Rivalries: The Ethnic Dimensions and Global Implications of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict

This paper investigates the Russia-Ukraine conflict as a nexus of historical legacies, ethnic nationalism, and US-Russia geopolitical contestation, rooted in the aftermath of the Soviet Union’s dissolution. By synthesising historical analysis, policy documents, through a mixed-methods framework, the study positions the war as a proxy struggle shaped by competing globalist and irredentist agendas. Four interconnected drivers emerge: Russia’s resurgence as a counterweight to US-led unipolarity; NATO’s eastward expansion as a catalyst for Russian security anxieties; energy geopolitics influencing regional dependencies; and de-Russification policies amplifying ethnic tensions in Ukraine’s divided sociopolitical landscape. The findings revealed the conflict transcends Ukraine’s sovereignty, reflecting broader systemic rivalries where external powers exploit historical grievances – such as Soviet-era identity fractures and contested territorial narratives – to advance strategic aims. These dynamics have entrenched Ukraine as a battleground for ideological and resource dominance, fuelling ultranationalism and internal discord. The analysis highlights the interplay between structural forces– great-power competition, alliance militarisation – and localised factors, including memory politics and economic disparities, which collectively hinder diplomatic resolution. The study critiques the humanitarian consequences of proxy warfare, particularly civilian displacement and infrastructural collapse. It further underscores the role of digital disinformation and economic sanctions as hybrid tools of modern conflict. The Roles and Challenges of a Community-Based Waste Bank: A Case of Bank Sampah Teratai in South Tangerang, Indonesia

Waste generation is an inevitable consequence of human activity and remains a pressing issue, particularly in urban areas. Rapid increases in waste volume, combined with inadequate infrastructure and ineffective disposal systems, have led to serious environmental and public health concerns. Community-based waste management strategies, such as waste banks, offer sustainable alternatives by integrating recycling programs, financial incentives, and citizen engagement. This study explores the roles and challenges of Bank Sampah Teratai (BS Teratai), a community-led waste bank in Pondok Pucung, South Tangerang, Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach, the research highlights BS Teratai’s contributions in raising environmental awareness, promoting economic empowerment through waste-based savings, and strengthening social cohesion. Verbatim quotes from participants illustrate how the initiative transforms waste from a burden into a valuable community asset. However, persistent challenges remain, including inconsistent community participation, limited storage capacity, unstable recyclable market prices, and the absence of proper facilities for hazardous and electronic waste. The COVID-19 pandemic further disrupted community involvement, exposing the vulnerability of grassroots efforts. This study emphasizes that waste banks can function not only as waste reduction tools but also as platforms for empowerment and behavioral change. The BS Teratai case offers valuable insights for replicating sustainable, community-based waste management models in other urban settings
