Transfer u nemogućem smeru: jugoslovenska marksistička književna kritika i nevidljiva ideologija znanja
jugoslovenskih autora i univerzitetskih profesora Rudi Supek, Svetozar Petrović i Predrag Matvejević u
slepe mrlje (post)jugoslovenske nauke o književnosti u kontekstu studija kulturnog transfera. Odabrani
V zaključku naše ugotovitve postavljamo v kontekst antigenderskih gibanj v regiji, vključno z državami nekdanje Jugoslavije in širšim kontekstom Vzhodne Evrope
Terapijska kultura i proizvodnja subjektivnosti u neoliberalizmu
This article explores the relationship between neoliberalism and the phenomena of “therapy culture”. We define therapy culture as a consequence of the spread of ideas, discourses, and practices from psychology and psychotherapy into various realms of society. Previous studies, drawing from cultural sociology, Marxism, and governmentality theory, have failed to adequately address how therapy culture integrates subjectivity with the institutions of the neoliberal mode of regulation. We begin with a historical overview of therapy culture’s evolution through the twentieth century and its role in neoliberal economic reforms. Our analysis then delves into conceptualizing the neoliberal mode of regulation, emphasizing the role it gives to subjectivity. Finally, we propose a theoretical framework integrating Foucault’s “technologies of the self” and Lacan’s concept of “fantasy” to conceptualize the relationship between neoliberalism and therapy culture. By relying on this framework, we will conclude that therapy culture serves as a governmental technology through which neoliberalism integrates subjectivity into the process of capital accumulation.
marksizam i teoriju upravljanja, nisu adekvatno adresirala kako terapijska kultura integriše
Deliberative policy (sub)system institutionalizing deliberative mini-publics within a policy process
As part of the crisis of representative democracy, the policy process proved inadequate and suffered from many illnesses. Namely, decision-makers and bureaucracy often rely upon prepacked solutions, stick to rigid hierarchy, suffer from lack of information and over-optimism when crafting policies and are sceptical of power-sharing with the citizens. Because of this, some called for joint bottom-up decision-making to solve most of the challenges. As one form of the solution, deliberative democracy is presented. Coming from the angle of the deliberative system approach, where we go beyond a deliberative mini-public and look at how it interacts and affects a wider system, we intend to articulate four conditions in this paper which can lead deliberative mini-publics to become an inclusive and effective member of the policy subsystem, a zone in which dominant and relevant actors interact in crafting policy solutions in all phases of the policy process
Until the End of the Word
Thinkers of the Architecture world, and of the arts in general, love to play with the notion of the “end,” often associated with
death, which in turn is easily reflected in the modernist concept of tabula rasa, fueling the avant-garde spirit of twentieth-century architecture. From Duchamp to postmodernism, art—and architecture—seems to sustain itself and its social function by playing with the progressive disruption (an “end”) of every representational code, continuously questioning the very possibility of existing and having agency in the world. In the middle decades of the second half of the century such permanent condition of de-construction was embodied by a leading architecture tendency, gaining most of its allure and authority by the close dialogue/collaboration with philosophers. This essay discusses how such design attitude has also come to an end. The reasons for this shift are to be found in two main areas. The first is today’s Weltaanschuuung—the cultural and anthropological condition we live in, compared to the final decades of the twentieth century and the early twenty-first. This can be examined by looking at how philosophy and its sister disciplines are reacting to these new conditions, gradually distancing themselves from architecture. The second is the loss of a set of protocols that once governed the relationships between theory, practice, and representation, as well as the loss of philosophy as the main partner in defining these protocols—an arrangement that had existed since Kant’s Critique of the Power of Judgment (1790)
Shifting to Historical Ends : Interview with Sylvia Lavin
This interview was conducted two months after the seminar dedicated to Khōrein, held at The New School in New York on September 27, 2024. The seminar brought together architectural theorists, historians, critics, practicing architects and philosophers to discuss past and future thematic issues of the journal. As a participant, Sylvia Lavin reflected on the theme of “end” through the lens of her research. The following interview starts from Lavin’s presentation, aiming to unpack some of its specific observations and discuss them through the lens of her broader work
Rethinking Education and Emancipation: Diverse Perspectives on Contemporary Challenges
This edited collection responds to the contemporary need for deeper analysis and rethinking of the relation between education and emancipation in a world beset by social, digital, educational and ecological crises. Among the diverse interdisciplinary perspectives explored are: rethinking the Anthropocene in the time of environmental emergency, the concept of relational thinking as emancipatory practice and a more encompassing concept of relational pedagogy that includes questions about the environment and digitalisation, the notion of indoctrination from the perspective of political education, reconnecting with the body as a form of emancipatory education and how schools reproduce socio-cultural ideologies in synergy with material and visual culture. The book chapters also consider the role of social media, postcolonialism and feminism in understanding emancipatory education and a historical reception of John Dewey’s ideas in other than Western contexts. This volume will be of interestto those seeking well-known as well as further and novel acquaintance with the philosophical and critical issues surrounding different forms and ideas of emancipation and/or/through education, including related practical propositions and examples. Educators, scholars in education, social justice, philosophy, sociology and curriculum developers will find this collection valuable in contemplating, practising and theorising the futures of emancipatory education across contexts and themes
Ways and Sideways of Emancipation: Dewey’s Reception in Different Political Eras of an Other-Than-Western Context
This chapter tackled the reception of Dewey’s work in different political eras of an other-than-Western context, namely, that of former Yugoslavia and Serbia. The chapter shows how different ideological positioning of the state politics in different eras, within a relatively short time line, informed the reading, interpretation and application of Dewey’s work. The lessons for an emancipatory classroom practice is the consideration of how ideological and political positioning of any country/state informs the reception of any ideas, whether they are deemed emancipatory or not
