Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Learning: Philosophical Reflections and an Innovative Case-Based Approach

    No full text
This paper explores the complex intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and education through a philosophical lens, presenting a case study of an innovative approach and course titled ‘Artificial Intelligence in Education.’ at University of Donja Gorica developed within MAGNET project. It reflects on the epistemological, ethical, and pedagogical implications of integrating AI into contemporary learning environments, drawing on classical pedagogical theories (Plato, Rousseau) and contemporary research. The study examines AI’s impact on knowledge transmission, student autonomy, and the role of educators, while also addressing concerns about bias, equity, and the potential for algorithmic control. Ultimately, it argues for a balanced approach that leverages AI’s potential for personalized learning and efficient knowledge delivery while safeguarding humanistic values and fostering critical thinking, creativity, and ethical awareness

Deliberative Policy (Sub)System: Institutionalising Deliberative Mini‐Publics Within the Policy Process

    No full text
Over the last few decades, growing public dissatisfaction with institutions of representative democracy has become unignorable. Similar problems affecting representative democracy occur within the policy process, as traditional top-down policymaking within the institutions of representative democracy has proven inadequate to include citizens. As a potential solution, some have turned to deliberative mini-publics (DMPs), which are slowly overcoming their experimental phase, and more attention is being placed on their institutionalisation within the political system and policy process. In this article, we are looking to articulate the necessary conditions for the institutionalisation of DMPs within a policy process. In doing so, we articulate six necessary conditions that aim at making DMPs an inclusive and effective member of the policy subsystem

Post-Yugoslav Space: Ima neka tajna veza ….

    No full text
Introductory chapter the aim of which is to explain the key terms, such as "post-Yugoslav" space and anti-gender "mobilizations", as well as to place this research within similar types of regional analyses. The Introduction begins with two interlocked assumptions: that a tajna veza, a hidden connection exists both between the feminist and queer activists and the anti-gender actors. It proves the first assumption, questioning the latter

Anti-Gender Mobilizations in the Post-Yugoslav Space Hidden Connection

    No full text
The papers collected in this volume scrutinize anti-gender mobilizations in seven post-Yugoslav countries. Each of them portrays the national manifestations of the transnational narrative on ‘gender ideology/theory’. They do this by looking into relevant contexts, main actors, discursive practices and the mobilization strategies they employ. Since anti-gender mobilizations belong to newer socio-political phenomena (Kuhar & Paternotte, 2017), all papers focus on temporally recent developments. Notably, these campaigns result in similar outcomes across the region, irrespective of the varying levels of progressive gender equality legislation. This demonstrates how global ideologies are localized and adapted to specific cultural and political contexts, with the post-Yugoslav space serving as a compelling case study. We therefore suggest that this region offers a unique and underexplored lens for examining anti-gender mobilizations in a global context. Far from being a peripheral or isolated case, the post-Yugoslav space illustrates how global anti-gender narratives are translated and adapted to local contexts. Our analysis reveals that while the rhetoric and strategies of antigender actors in the post-Yugoslav space often mirror global trends, the region’s ethno-nationalist legacies and varied Europeanization trajectories imbue these campaigns with distinct characteristics. For this reason, we propose a reading that positions the post-Yugoslav space as a miniature showroom, a ‘microcosm’ of how anti-gender politics germinates and branches out. The collected volume demonstrates how the implementation of discursive and policy strategies leads to complementary results in purportedly different contexts, albeit at different paces

From the light of creation to the light of contemplation: The understanding of light in the 15th century Slavonic translations of Hexaemeral literature

    No full text
This paper investigates the conception of light in the fifteenth-century Slavonic codex Šestodnevnik (Hexaemeron), preserved at the Savina Monastery in Montenegro. Compiled by Nikon of Jerusalem, the collection includes translations of Severian of Gabala’s Hexaemeron alongside writings by prominent hesychast authors such as Diadochos of Photiki and Niketas Stethatos. Through textual and comparative analysis, the paper explores how the theme of light bridges cosmological, theological, and mystical dimensions, reflecting both the Neoplatonic tradition and the Christian path of ascetic purification. The synthesis of Severian’s cosmology with hesychast theology in the codex presents light as a metaphor for divine knowledge and spiritual enlightenment

Becoming and the Critique of Imitation in Deleuze and Guattari’s Philosophy

    No full text
In this article I understand Deleuze and Guattari’s concept of “becoming” through the lens of their critique of Plato’s concept of imitation. I argue that Deleuze and Guattari do not completely repudiate the concept of imitation, showing that it also has a positive role in their thought. In the first step I examine Deleuze’s critique of Plato’s notion of mimesis and how this critique reflects on his development of the concepts of the simulacrum and becoming. In the second step I argue that Deleuze and Guattari’s philosophy preserves the concept of imitation not only as an object of critique, but as a constitutive element in the process of becoming

Thematic issue: The understanding of light in the religious traditions of the 14th and 15th century Balkans

    No full text
This thematic issue, titled ‘The Understanding of Light in the Religious Traditions of the 14th and 15th Century Balkans’, focuses primarily on the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries and examines two major mystical traditions: Hesychasm, which originated on Mount Athos and spread into medieval Serbia and Bulgaria, and Bektashi Sufism, which accompanied the Ottoman army and first took root in Albania, North Macedonia, and Kosovo. However, there remains a notable imbalance in research coverage: the Orthodox tradition—deeply embedded within the Byzantine imperial framework—has been far more thoroughly documented, whereas Islam entered the Balkans mainly as the faith of soldiers and conquerors. The Ottoman westward expansion, along with the fall of Byzantium and Serbia, facilitated the migration of Orthodox monasticism to the west, bringing with it a rich cultural and educational legacy. At the same time, this period witnessed the establishment of Islamic schools in the central Balkans and the flourishing of Islamic intellectual and cultural life in these newly incorporated territories
