Contemporary Islamic Political and Social Thought Before and After The Arab Spring: Mapping The Field
The special issue, “Contemporary Islamic Political and Social Thought Be-
fore and After the Arab Spring: Mapping the Field,” emerges amidst a year of
war in Gaza and the West Bank. As of August 30, 2024, Israeli military actions
have resulted in the deaths of 40,602 Palestinians, 52% of whom are women
and minors, with an additional 93,534 injured in Gaza alone.1 Journalists and
medical personnel have been disproportionately targeted, intensifying an al-
ready dire humanitarian crisis. This ongoing conflict reveals the deep-seated
challenges confronting Muslim societies and states today. With the notable
exceptions of Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen, most
Muslim-majority governments have confined their responses to expressions
of diplomatic concern, thus offering little in the way of substantive action to
end this televised genocide
O estetskoj revoluciji i političkoj subjektivizaciji: jugoslovenska ženska književnost 30-ih godina 20. veka
literature.
Ovde. Mnogoglasje Banata u dokumentarnoj prozi Tibora Varadija
Tibor Várady’s documentary prose is based on the court cases from the Várady Law Office, which worked for more than a century – from 1893 to 2014 – in Zrenjanin/Nagybecskerek and has preserved a rich archive. The first part of the chapter is dedicated to the biography of Tibor Várady, and the second part is an interview with the author about his books, with a critical review of social concepts, such as the importance of archives, the experience of life in border areas, cultural memory, the importance of law and justice, mixed marriages, multilingualism, everyday life, attitude towards fascism and communism refracted through court archives, certainty of identity, etc. Based on the Várady’s prose, the interview attempts to answer to what extent there is a (dis)continuity with the practices of multilingualism from the past and how certain historical events shaped the lives of minorities and language use in Vojvodina
“There Is Always Aufhebung.” Derrida’s Reading of Hegel Before Glas
Introduction à la sémiologie de Hegel”. This article aims to reconstruct Jacques Derrida’s relationship to Hegelian philosophy as
established prior to the publication of Glas (1974). During the late 1960s, a moment in whi ch the philosophical context was marked by a strong anti-Hegelianism, Derrida’s deconstru ction was received as the opposite of Hegel’s speculative idealism. While this opposition
became the most accepted version of the French philosopher’s position towards Hegel, there
are discernible affinities between the two thinkers. This paper analyzes the texts dedicated
Introduction à la sémiologie de Hegel”. It demonstrates that despite an apparent explicit rejection of dialectical thinking, Derrida consistently acknowledged its relevance, declaring a unilateral break as impossible, and, at least during the early stages of his career, conceived the possibility of a deconstructive interpretation of Hegel’s though

The paper presents the focal points of the discussion on the nature
and scope of the Enlightenment, which was conducted in the
German-speaking lands during the last decade of the eighteenth
century. The introductory section focuses on Kant’s definition of
Enlightenment. The central part contextualizes this definition by
exploring the structure of the Society of Friends of Enlightenment,
from which it emerged, and the debates that took place within it. The
concluding section highlights the unique (auto)reflexive character of
the German interpretations of the Enlightenment and the topicality
of the doubts raised by its representatives
Solidarity and Humanism: Ideological Conception of Red Cross in Socialist Yugoslavia During the 1960s and 1970s
The Red Cross has a rich history, having existed in both capitalist and state-socialist systems, and providing a broad research scope. This paper focuses on the
work of the Red Cross in Socialist Yugoslavia, aiming to explore how the organization
was perceived within that system. It highlights the significance of the concept of self-management in shaping the organization's mission. The paper further explores the
key principles of socialist humanism and solidarity which were the basic conceptual
framework guiding the activities of the Red Cross. It also examines how the dominant
ideological and political narratives of Socialist Yugoslavia influenced the organization.
The main conclusion is that the Red Cross in Socialist Yugoslavia expanded its purpose,
aiming to go beyond the limitations of being merely a humanitarian and charitable
organization as understood in a capitalist context
