"I Saw Jews Carrying Dead Bodies on Stretchers": Forced Labour and the Holocaust in Serbia

Development of pastoral economy in the 19th century serbian village
The basic thesis we are trying to prove in this paper is that the development and transformation of objects used for livestock breeding in Serbia in the 19th century represents a paradigmatic example of the dynamics of the economic development of the country. We believe that the gradual transition from animal husbandry as the dominant economic activity to land cultivation was accompanied by changes that conditioned the appearance, development and transformation of facilities for livestock breeding, gradually transforming them from temporary to permanent buildings, thus influencing the transformation of material culture. Neoliberal instrumentalism and the fight against it: the “We Won’t Let Belgrade D(r)own” movement
ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the new anti-neoliberal social movements in
post-Socialist Serbia, most notably the Belgrade movement “We
Won’t Let Belgrade D(r)own”. It does this by proposing an
analytical framework for analysing the way they deploy their
critique of what the authors term “neoliberal instrumentalism”, a
discourse of justification that legitimises the curtailing of
democracy in the name of economic efficiency. The article also
addresses Igor Štiks’s “disaggregation thesis” and suggests that,
rather than being a “failure”, the disaggregation of the
movements such as “We Won’t Let Belgrade D(r)own” at the initial
stage of their development can be an advantage for mobilising
specific segments of the population
Fikcionalizam i problem univerzalija u filozofiji matematike
Many long-standing problems pertaining to contemporary philosophy
of mathematics can be traced back to different approaches in determining
the nature of mathematical entities which have been dominated by the
debate between realists and nominalists. Through this discussion
conceptualism is represented as a middle solution. However, it seems
that until the 20th century there was no third position that would not
necessitate any reliance on one of the two points of view. Fictionalism,
on the other hand, observes mathematical entities in a radically different
way. This is reflected in the claim that the concepts being used in
mathematics are nothing but a product of human fiction. This paper
discusses the relationship between fictionalism and two traditional
viewpoints within the discussion which attempts to successfully determine
the ontological status of universals. One of the main points, demonstrated
with concrete examples, is that fictionalism cannot be classified as a
nominalist position (despite contrary claims of authors such as Hartry
Field). Since fictionalism is observed as an independent viewpoint, it is
necessary to examine its range as well as the sustainability of the
implications of opinions stated by their advocates.
Integrated Foucault: Another Look at Discourse and Power
This paper argues that there is continuity in Foucault’s thought, as opposed to the common division of his work into three phases, each marking a distinct field of research – discourse, power, subject. The idea is that there are no radical turns in his work that justify this division; rather, there is a shift of focus: all crucial concepts are present (more or less [in]explicitly) in all periods of his thought and in all of his undoubtedly differently-toned and oriented works. This is shown through examining the characteristics of archaeology and genealogy, their relation, as well as the relation of discursive practices and strategies of power to knowledge. The retrospective and (re)interpretation intend to shed light on the constant interplay between concepts that demonstrate continuity in Foucault’s thought. The viewpoint, based in the integrity of Foucault’s work, offers a better starting point for understanding certain aspects of his theories.
