Ksenija Atanasijević on Aristotle’s Concept of Friendship

    No full text
In this paper, we examine Ksenija Atanasijević’s interpretation of Aristotle’s views on friendship, presented in her article “Aristotle’s Understanding of Friendship” (Aristotelovo shvatanje prijateljstva). We first outline Aristotle’s tripartite framework of friendship—based on virtue, pleasure, and utility—emphasizing his view that only the friendship of virtue constitutes a complete, reciprocal bond. The analysis then shifts to Atanasijević’s critique, which highlights both the inherent self-interest underpinning most human relationships and the problematic nature of unequal friendships, particularly in gendered contexts. While acknowledging Aristotle’s profound psychological insights, Atanasijević implicitly challenges his endorsement of hierarchical, male-dominated relationships. We interpret her deliberate omission of a direct critique of gender inequality as a strategic choice aimed at foregrounding the universal, transformative power of friendship—a concept she believed had the potential to enhance both individual lives and broader social reality

Infrastructure of Care and Mutual Aid: Direct Action Support for the Student Uprising in Serbia

    No full text
This paper examines improvised “infrastructures of care” that sustained Serbia’s 2024–2025 student uprising, mapping citizen support, interpretive frames, motives, and shifts in self-efficacy and agency. Using a two-phase design, a desk analysis of media and public social-media posts (1 Nov 2024–31 May 2025) and four focus groups (N=23, June 2025), we show that students initiated and organised the mobilisation and broadcast calls via social media, which citizens followed with decentralised support: hosting and providing food for students, ride-sharing, logistics and security, supplies, and pro bono legal, psychological and medical aid. Support clustered in families, neighbourhoods, schools, and professions, with some hubs becoming local assemblies. While solidarity was a central theme, participants often merged the ideas of care, humanitarian action, and political mobilisation. Their support for students combined emotional, material, ethical, and political aspects into a unified practice. Engagement catalysed empowerment among first timers, widened togetherness across class, gender, geography, and seeded everyday civic initiatives beyond protests. Yet informality and speed brought limits, burnout, uneven (often gendered) labour, scalability issues, and thinner relationality in screen-mediated coordination. These care and mutual aid infrastructures promote horizontal, care-focused public responsibility, linking resistance to daily survival under authoritarian conditions

    Filosofía ,,/‘‘ Arquitectura: contra l’informe

    No full text

Politička ontologija Harta i Negrija: domet mnoštva i stvarnost revolucionarnog

    No full text
Hardt and Negri’s philosophical approach is deeply shaped by their interpretation of biopolitics, particularly through their exploration of the multitude’s power and their analysis of emerging forms of sovereignty. The revolutionary potential within the diversity of the multitude cannot be fully grasped without considering the broader context of their critique of neoliberal political practices and their view of the Empire as a system that creates mechanisms for new political thought and action. A central question posed is whether, in reinterpreting Marxism through a postmodern lens, these authors manage to provide a framework for new, small-scale revolutions, or whether their intense focus on sovereignty has left them disconnected from the very multiplicity that defines the multitude’s potential.

Virtual Aunts and Uncles: Identity and Community in a Diasporic National Minority

    No full text
The past decade has seen mass emigration of Hungarians from Serbia to the kin-state and Western European countries. This has resulted in new ways of understanding what it means to belong to the community, both empirically and in terms of theorizing it, and both for those in Serbia and those abroad. This article claims that there are virtual platforms where members of this ethnic community (re)create their identities, and that this happens through relating to certain common themes. For this reason, I analyze the common themes of two humorous Facebook pages – namely, rurality, food, language use, ethnic others, and crossing borders – popular among Vojvodina Hungarians. The article argues that these elements of identity connect members of the community who live in Vojvodina and those who have emigrated to the kin-state or diaspora. Therefore, in order to unpack the complex dynamics of identification of a national minority community with high diasporic tendencies, an approach that connects the above topics to the concepts of community, nostalgia, home, minority, and borders, and in more general terms the lens of national minority and diaspora studies is needed

An Autoethnographic Account of the Anti-Corruption Student Protests in Serbia 2024/25

    No full text
This autoethnographic piece documents the 2024/25 anti-corruption student protests in Serbia, exploring the student movement’s emergence, and its broader social implications. Through firsthand participation in plenums, protests, and blockades, I reflect on themes of resistance, alienation, and the creation of community. The piece situates the movement within Serbia’s political landscape, revealing the intergenerational tensions, struggles for democracy, and the role of trust in collective action. By weaving personal reflections with political analysis, this work highlights how a new generation of students is reshaping political engagement in Serbia—challenging authority, reclaiming public space, and asserting their right to shape their own futures. The protests are not merely a demand for justice but a reawakening of civic agency

Museumization of the 1992–1995 War in Sarajevo: Exhibiting Violent Past in a Post-Conflict Memory Landscape

    No full text
This entry provides an overview of memorial museums in Sarajevo displaying exhibitions about the 1992–1995 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). It places the museums in Sarajevo within a wider discussion about a recent trend in memorialization of past violence that resulted in the proliferation of memorial museums. The entry then employs the theoretical framework of narrative (de)normalization of violence to assess how memorial museums in the capital of BiH represent the violent past of the country. The entry also discusses whether these representations of violence allow visitors to Sarajevan museums to critically engage with and reflect on the country’s violent past. It is argued that while the Sarajevan memorial museums are mostly successful in developing, in their visitors, empathy with victims of violence, and thus fulfill their role as memorials, they also fall short in fulfilling their museum role and in informing visitors about the historical context in which the violence occurred. This, in turn, might be hindering the possibility of the visitors to critically engage with the violence on display

Kant, uzvišeno i Delezov pojam učenja

    No full text
