    Aktivizam

    No full text
Leksikografska jedinic

Kritički osvrt na koncept deobjektifikovane mržnje

    No full text
This paper looks at Thomas Szanto’s theory of hatred that suggests that hatred has an indeterminate affective focus and that it derives its intensity from the commitment to the attitude itself. Contrary to Szanto’s theses, this paper claims that the hated properties are not necessarily fuzzy. On the contrary, in many cases we can clearly reconstruct the quasi-rational genesis of hatred, by relying on the deep structures behind the social dynamics (as demonstrated by the example of anti-Semitism). Furthermore, the paper states that even though in certain cases hatred is a truly empty of content, these cases are marginal in comparison to other, more important forms of hatred.Članak se fokusira na teoriju mržnje kod Tomasa Santa koja sugeriuše da mržnja nema jasan afektivni fokus, te da njen intentizet proističe iz zalaganja za sam intencionalni stav mržnje.

The Diversity of Value Construal: A Constructivist Approach to the Schwartz Theory of Basic Values

    No full text
The Schwartz theory of basic values is the leading model in psychological research. However, few studies qualitatively approach how people make sense of value types. We propose a way to investigate this by focusing on emerging adulthood, a developmental period of exploration. Furthermore, participants are situated in the context of Balkan societies that are characterized by transitions. Relying on personal construct theory, we explored potential interpretations of values, their subordinate constructs, diversity, valence, and similarity to the definitions proposed in the theory. We used pyramiding in order to prompt constructs subordinate to each of the ten values. We applied thematic analysis to identify subordinate constructs in the 5866 responses obtained from 281 participants. The results show that participants understand abstract values through constructs that refer to specific actions, feelings, and personality traits. The values varied in the number of subordinate constructs and the degree of their deviation from the conceptual definition. There are also differences in the connotations of values or their desirability. Results show that all values, except Universalism, have a subordinate construct that expresses the negative side of the value. This study offers a more contextualized and content-oriented approach to values and has implications for future studies

State vs. Anti-vaxxers: Analysis of Covid 19 Echo Chambers in Serbia

    No full text
Times of uncertainty and fear were brought by Covid 19. Ongoing pandemic is a fruitful ground for fake news, as citizens try to find explanations that fit into their worldviews. This process polarizes society and creates echo chambers amplified by recommender systems. Our main goal is to detect anti-vaxxer echo chamber in Serbia by analyzing online reactions to recent arrest of prominent anti-vaxxer dr Jovana Stojkovic. Content analysis of online comments is deployed in anti-regime left, anti-regime right and pro government media to explore attitudes towards vaccination conspiracy theory, police action towards anti-vaxxers and government crisis response team. We clearly distinguish anti vaccine echo chamber among commentators of anti regime right media (Youtube podcasts). Additionally, we describe attitudes expressed around issues related to vaccination. Limitation of this inquiry is lack of quantitative analysis. This is recommended for further research, in order to analyze greater number of comments. Additionally, scientists should explore echo chambers in more detail, given the fact they stand as realistic threat to democracy in future

Moral normativity and mental health: Lacanian view of neurosis and psychosis in the light of integrative psychotherapy

    No full text
The paper focuses on an understanding of mental health as a sort of social idealisation: the conceptualisation of an ideally healthy personality, in practice, usually overlaps with the idealisation of those personality traits which, in the respective society, are considered particularly desirable. The quantification of mental health is then conducted based on the approximation of an individual's situation with the mentioned ideal. The described view of mental health presupposes a corresponding understanding of a well integrated personality as more or less synonimous with a well socialised personality. In Lacanian psychoanalysis, the main factor of socialisation, and at the same time the carrier of symbolisation of experience (primarily of its morally normative symbolisation) is the main signified "Name of the Father", which suggests the morally formative role of the father figure in the socialisation of a child (a function which, admittedly, can be performed by others, as well as by the actual father). Based on an interpretation of the signifier Name of the Father, Lacan and the Lacanians derive clearly delineated conceptualisations of neurosis and psychosis and, consequently, methodologically radically different approaches to treating the former and the latter. The paper discusses the roles of moral normativity in the constitution of subjectivity in the case of neurosis and of psychosis, and offers a perspective which is to some extent novel, however still in line with the main Lacanian interpretations offerred so far: the interpretation whereby it is the awareness of the significance of one's choices and the instrumental usefulness of the moral normativity one adopts that define mental health. This awareness of moral normativity functions dynamically and structurally differently in neurosis and in psychosis

A Bloodthirsty Tyrant or a Righteous Landlord? Smail-aga Čengić in Literature and Oral Tradition

    No full text
The 1840 murder of a notable 19th century Bosnian dignitary Smail-aga Čengić immediately inspired strong artistic production in the South Slav literature and oral tradition. These narratives, comprising newspaper articles, oral epic songs, and particularly Ivan Mažuranić’s literary epics written in the manner of oral folk epic, presented and codified Smail-aga as a bloodthirsty tyrant whose ultimate aim was to terrorize and extinct his Christian subjects. In distinction, some marginalized local narratives and oral folk tradition, which will be examined in this article, remembered Smail-aga as a righteous and merciful lord, protector of his flock and a brave warrior. Thus, when we scrutinize several versions of oral songs about the death of Smail-aga recorded between 1845 and 1860, as well as later collected anecdotes from his native Herzegovina, it appears that his hostile portrayal in written literature was rather the contribution of the Serbian and Croatian Romantic nationalists around the mid19th-century than an actual popular perception of him among local people in the region that he lived with. In conclusion, the article advocates for a wider consideration of the overall polyphonic narrative tradition and the revitalization of traditional narratives that glorify values which transcend strict religious, ethnic and national divisions as a way of reimagining and revaluating relationship of the South Slavs towards the Ottoman heritage

Politics And/Of Education: What Kind of Emancipation, From What And For What?

    No full text
The article seeks to thematize the relationship between emancipation and education in three and a half steps. The first part presents a brief historical overview of the use of the term “emancipation” and signals its structure, elements and/or figure. The sec ond part of the paper borrows two models of emancipation that offer a tradition of political thought which marked the era of emancipation: these are the proposals for the revolutionary and Zionist emancipation of Jews in the nineteenth century. These models are juxtaposed in the third part with the characteristic advocacies of the ed ucational emancipation of the twentieth century: an Enlightenment and a subversive legacy with appropriate political visions and strategies. The concluding part summa rizes the similarities and differences of (thinking about) emancipation in politics and emancipation in education, and suggests a perspective which is a harbinger of the possibility of emancipating education from politically directed demands for emancipation

Hanslick’s Formalism as The Beginning of The Contemporary Aesthetics of Music

    No full text
Hanslikov pristup muzičkoj estetici predstavlja prvu sistematičnu raspravu o prirodi i vrednosti muzike. Tezama iznetim u navedenom spisu, Hanslik postavlja pitanja koja ostaju aktuelna i plodna i u savremenoj analitičkoj estetici muzike. The article presents Hanslick’s aesthetic formalism as the starting point of the con temporary aesthetics of music. His book, written in the 19th century, is considered contemporary because it still proves to be influential and fruitful in the contemporary theoretical circles, especially in the modern analytic aesthetics of music, where it is widely cited and discussed. The article positions Hanslick’s book in relation to his nearest predecessors Kant and Herbart, and to the neighbouring area where the for malistic view appeared, namely in Fidler’s visual formalism in fine arts. It is shown that by being the first piece of writing to attempt to systematically and comprehensively determine the essence and the content of music, and the criteria for evaluation of musical worth, Hanslick’s book sets the foundation for a rigorous examination of the aesthetics of music, and also breaks off with the widely ingrained preconceptions of music, which were in themselves an obstacle to establishing the aesthetics of music as a scientific discipline

    Moć i indiferentna (im)potencijalnost u Agambenovoj filozofiji

    No full text
