Names of Painting
José Ortega y Gasset studied painting in depth from the standpoint he called ratio-vitalism or
the philosophy of vital reason. This paper explores whether the term živopis corresponds more
to ratio-vitalist philosophy than the term pintura used by the Spanish philosopher. In other
words, the question is whether the translation, in this case, is better than the original. Following
Ortega’s thesis on the historicity of human creations, we will look for the origin of the word
živopis, which contributes to the consideration of whether it is an appropriate word for the art
of painting from the perspective of the philosophy of life
The Conceptual Act of (Non)Instrumentality
This paper aims at hypothesizing that the issue of technology could never be considered separate from the creative act. We develop the hypothesis starting from Heidegger’s
opposition of technology and the poietic, which we interpret through the dialectic between the
performative and constative function of the hand. To overcome the Heideggerian problem of
Enframing, we introduce the question of singularity inherent in every poietic activity which,
however, does not result in conceiving technology as an instrument. When defining the nature
of such poietic singularization we employ Spinoza’s concept of an inadequate idea – an idea
that involves its cause but does not explain it. The inherent negativity of the inadequate idea
generates the sphere in which the new appears as radical otherness. But in order to produce the
new, that is, to perform it, technology has to be conceptualized and thus made an instrument
– a singular instrument of the creative act
Yugoslavia and De Gaulle’s Revision of the Cold War
This paper will analyze France’s attempted foreign policy strategy in Yugoslavia and in Eastern Europe during the 1960s, beginning with the various positions of de Gaulle’s France and Tito’s Yugoslavia and the numerous similarities in how the two countries’ diplomacy functioned. In both countries, the course of foreign policy was determined according to the authoritarian characteristics of their systems and of their central figure–the president. Both countries were also interested in transcending the Cold War division of Europe, and they based their strategies on attempts to marginalize the United States and pacify the Soviet regime. De Gaulle’s attempt at a détente, which Yugoslavia was very sympathetic toward and had also committed itself to similar goals, failed due to unrealistic illusions of overcoming this bipolarity by forging a middle way between the two opposing Cold War blocs. Faced with an overestimation of their own influence, along with the Warsaw Pact’saggression toward Czechoslovakia, Moscow’s complete lack of interest in pacification, and the US’s unwillingness to withdraw, end of de Gaulle’s attempts at détente, in which Yugoslavia would play an important role, came to an end. Nevertheless, similar European and global policy goals brought France and Yugoslavia closer together, and this established the principles on which a cooling down period in the mid-1970s became possible
What do you mean when you say "fake news"? Use of the term "fake news" in news reporting in Serbia – A qualitative analysis
vesti kroz definisanje problema, traženje uzroka, razmatranje posledica i/
ili predlaganje mera u borbi protiv lažnih vesti. Druga vrsta upotrebe upućuje
na instrumentalizaciju ovog izraza u političke svrhe. Treća tema nazvana je
normalizacijom diskursa o lažnim vestima i označava usputnu upotrebu ovog
izraza kao pomodne fraze u različitim kontekstima. The goal of this study was to offer in-depth insight into uses of the term “fake
news” in news reporting in Serbia. Based on a qualitative content analysis (N
= 300), three themes emerged describing the key characteristics of the media
discourse on fake news. The first one describes the phenomenon of fake news
as a problem by defining it and identifying its causes, consequences, and potential
measures for fighting it. The second theme describes instrumentalizing
the fake news label for political purposes. The final theme was the normalization
of the fake news discourse, which refers to using the term “fake news” in
passing as an empty buzzword with different meanings in different contexts
