Infrapolitika na kraju est-etike: o najnovijem delu Alberto Moreirasa

    No full text
In this paper I will offer a reading of Alberto Moreiras’ recently published books, but within the context of his life’s work as a whole: which I will consider from the point of view of a questioning of the idea of the time/ history difference. After briefly tracing that overarching concern in his early work, I move to a consideration of a move away from Hegelianism in the more recent publications. This non-Hegelianism is not simply an anti-Hegelian stance. Understanding the difference will take us into the true dimension of infrapolitics. This aspect of Moreiras’ contribution to contemporary debates will be illustrated by way of his paradoxical and unrecognizable Antigone.U ovom radu ću ponuditi čitanje nedavno objavljenih knjiga Alberta Moreirasa, ali u kontekstu njegovog životnog dela u celini.

One of the most prominent issues in contemporary social philosophy is the democratic institutionalization of social change. In the following paper, we analyze how such an objective must not overlook the changes wrought by globalization. To this end, we first present some of the critical responses to globalization presented by contemporary thinkers (Federici, Tomba, Srnicek). Next, we tackle the notions of the “diffuse regime of transnational power”, “lex mercatoria” and “governance”, and point out how these concepts are indispensable for a complete understanding of the present of capitalism in the areas of trade and economy.

    No full text
Potom, ispituju se mogućnosti za prevazilaženje navedenih problema, te se na kraju osvetljavaju prednosti primene analize diskursa kako u praktično-istraživačkom smislu (posebno u uslovima pandemije) tako i na saznajnom nivou.: This paper aims to explore the possibilities of applying discourse analysis as a research technique for analyzing meaningful aspects of social life during the COVID-19 pandemic. The application of discourse analysis (specifically, critical discourse analysis) is examined on the example of two research projects on the discursive constructions of the crisis itself and the reactions of various actors in Serbian society on it, carried out during the pandemic (2021). One of the projects mentioned above was dedicated to the analysis of the symbolic struggles between the representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the civil sphere, and the other one to the analysis of the discourse of the state leadership on Serbia’s response to the crisis caused by the pandemic. Despite the differences in research topics, a similar set of challenges appeared in both research projects, and the central problems concern 1) the selection and availability of material, 2) the absence of precise guidelines for the coding and analysis of the material, 3) the gap between the discourse and practice of the observed actors, 4) the difference between the actors’ discourse and their media representation, and 5) the possibility of identifying the dominant discourse in the media content. The aim of this paper is to problematize the challenges that followed the conduct of both research projects, whether it is the challenges that accompany the application of discourse analysis as a research technique in general, or challenges that arose because we researched pandemics or when the research is conducted in a pandemic. Additionally, the possibilities for overcoming these problems are examined, and finally the advantages of the application of discourse analysis are emphasized, both in a practical sense (especially in the context of the pandemic), and in the epistemic sense

Insight Into Some Methodological Issues and Disputes in the Research of Intellectual History

    No full text
Intelektualna istorija predstavlja vrlo širok i neod ređen pojam, praćen sporenjima i nesaglasnošću među istoričarima koju pokušavaju da ga preciznije definišu. The article attempts to present some methodological approaches, controversies, and dilemmas in the research of intellectual history. First, the paper shows a dispute over the subject matter and the definition of the discipline from the perspective of influential scholars in the field. The major part of the study aims to show several methodological approaches: the traditional method of the “history of ideas” in the USA, the linguistic contextualism of the “Cambridge school”, the relationship between postmodernism and intellectual history, as well as social intellectual history. Similarities and differences between selected approaches are discussed considering their contributions and shortcomings. The final part of the article examines contemporary trends within the discipline, offering one of the potential solutions for earlier crises and methodological difficulties

    Filoterapija kao drustvena delatnost

The paper focuses on emotional subjectivity (a sense of own identity based on an emotional reception of values), on the one hand, and the constitution of an organic community (one characterized by immediacy, as oppose to a formal community, which is permeated with by institutional relations that mediate the inter-subjective relationships between the community's members.: Tekst se bavi odnosom između emocionalne subjektivnosti (doživljaja sopstvenog identiteta na osnovu emocionalne recepcije vrednosti) s jedne, i konstitucijom organske zajednice (zajednice koju odlikuje neposrednost, za razliku od neophodnosti institucionalnog posredovanja) s druge strane.

Effects of experimentally induced self-affirmation on the openness to meat reduction and alternative protein sources

    No full text
Introduction: Consumption of animals entails disregarding the pain of sentient beings, and acknowledging this can threaten an individual’s image of oneself as a moral person. Also, abstaining from meat in a meat-eating culture can threaten an individual’s valued group identity. Previous research on inter-group relations suggests that self-affirmation, affirmation of personally or collectively important values, can help individuals alleviate self-threats since it enhances one’s global self-image and decreases threat perceptions. Methods: We tested for potential effects of self-affirmation on openness toward reducing meat consumption in an experimental study. Participants (N = 277) were randomized into an individual affirmation, group affirmation, or a control condition. Individual affirmation participants ranked a list of values and then wrote a short paragraph about their first-ranked value. Group affirmation participants did a similar task, focusing on the values of their ethnic group, while participants in the control condition had an unrelated task of ranking their color preferences. Participants then read a persuasive message presenting health risks related to meat consumption and the health benefits of reducing meat. Finally, they indicated their openness toward reducing meat consumption and acceptability of plant-based alternatives and lab-grown meat. Results and Discussion: Results show that affirmed participants expressed more readiness to reconsider their meat consumption habits, reduced perceptions of vegetarianism as a threat to the local culture, and more positive perceptions of the idea of lab-grown meat. However, self-esteem and frequency of meat consumption pose important limitations to the experimental effects. We discuss the findings from the perspective of self-and collective identity threats and the potential of self-affirmations to create a more open debate about animal product consumption

Opšte dobro, javni interes i zajedničko: konceptualna razgraničenja u istorijskoj perspektivi i savremene dileme

    No full text
Rad se bavi preciznijim određivanjem pojmova opšteg dobra, javnog interesa i zajedničkog sagledavajući njihovu upotrebu u političkoj filozofiji i političkim naukama u istorijskoj perspektivi. Naposletku, pojam zajedničkog vraća kolektivitet u igru, a „zajedništvo“ postaje ključni termin u rešavanju pitanja degradacije i održivosti širokog spektra dobara. The paper endeavours to offer a closer definition of the concepts of common good, public interest and the commons, analysing their usage in a contemporary and historical perspective. The common good has been one of the key subjects of moral and political philosophy since ancient times. Today, the term public interest is often used as a synonym for the term common good. However, we will try to show that they carry a somewhat different meaning. A recent significant echo of the long-standing debate on the common good can be recognized in the discussions surrounding the concept of commons, which refers to cultural, material and intellectual resources to which all members of a community claim the right to use. All three notions contribute to a deeper understanding of community well-being and the way to realize that well-being. However, authors that are studied in the paper emphasize differently the importance of the collectivity and the individual in that process. The concept of the common good, especially for pre-modern thinkers, refers to the good of the community from which follows the good of its members, while the appealing to the interests of individuals is considered immoral. Later, with the development of the concept of public interest, the individual is placed in the centre of consideration, and the well-being of the community is brought into relation with what is in the interest of its members. Ultimately, the notion of the commons brings the collectivity back to focus, and “togetherness” becomes a key term in addressing the issues of degradation and sustainability of a wide range of goods

Architecture and Philosophy and Wages of Obfuscation

    No full text
The paper analyses possible contributions of philosophy and philosophers to architecture and architects’ work. During the twentieth century, a number of dominant positions in philosophy, such as the view that all thinking is verbal or that conceptual thinking determines the contents of perception, significantly limited the ground for productive intellectual interaction between architects and philosophers. With the demise of such positions in recent decades, one can hope that philosophy and philosophers could make genuine contributions to architectural theory
