    Keragaman, Distribusi dan Kelimpahan Chaetognatha di Kawasan Pesisir Kota Dumai Provinsi Riau

    ABSTRAKChaetognatha atau cacing panah (arrow worm) merupakan salah satu kelompok holoplankton yang distribusi dan keragamannya cukup tinggi di perairan. Chaetognatha memiliki peran yang sangat penting didalam rantai makanan dan juga berfungsi sebagai bioindikator kondisi oceanograf suatu wilayah. Kelimpahan Chaetognatha di dalam perairan dapat mempengaruhi kelimpahan larva ikan dan zooplankton lainnya, sehingga informasi keberadaannya sangat penting dalam pengelolaan perikanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keragaman, distribusi dan kelimpahan Chaetognatha di perairan pesisir Kota Dumai Provinsi Riau. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April hingga September 2021 di perairan pesisir Kota Dumai. Jumlah stasiun pengambilan sampel sebanyak tiga titik dengan jumlah pengambilan sampel sebanyak dua kali pada masing-masing stasiun. Jumlah jenis Chaetognatha di perairan pesisir Kota Dumai tergolong rendah hanya ditemukan 2 jenis yaitu Eukronia calliops dan Sagitta megalopthalmus. Distribusi Chaetognatha di perairan Kota Dumai cukup merata dan ditemukan di ketiga lokasi penelitian walaupun kelimpahan yang relatif berbeda. Kelimpahan Chaetognatha berkisar antara 19-322 ind/1000 m3, namun jika dibandingkan dengan perairan lainnya, kelimpahan dilokasi studi sangat rendah.Kata kunci: Chaetognatha, keragaman, Kota Dumai, perairan pesisirABSTRACTChaetognatha or arrow worms are one of the holoplankton groups whose distribution and diversity is quite high in waters. Chaetognatha has important role in the food chain and also functions as a bioindicator of oceanographic conditions. The abundance of Chaetognatha in the waters can affect the abundance of fish larvae and other zooplankton, so that information on its existence is very important in fisheries management. The aims of study to determine the diversity, distribution and abundance of Chaetognatha in the coastal waters of Dumai City, Riau Province. This research was conducted from April to September 2021 in the coastal waters of Dumai City. The number of sampling stations are three points and the number of samplings twice at each station. The number of Chaetognatha species in the coastal waters of Dumai City is relatively low, only 2 species were found, namely Eukronia calliops and Sagitta megalopthalmus. The distribution of Chaetognatha in the waters of Dumai City was quite even and found in three sites, although the abundances were relatively different. The abundance of Chaetognatha ranges from 19-322 ind/1000 m3, it is very low compare to other research.Key word: Chaetognath, coastal waters, diversity, Dumai Cit

    Pemanfaatan Ekstrak Rumput Laut (Eucheuma cottonii) Dari Perairan Sumenep Sebagai Antioksidan

    ABSTRACTSeaweed is a plant that has the potential to be cultivated and has many benefits, one of which is as a natural antioxidant because it contains bioactive compounds that function to ward off free radicals. One of the seaweeds that has the potential to be developed is Eucheuma cottonii.  This study aimed to analyze the proximate content, bioactive content and antioxidant activity of Eucheuma cottonii seaweed.  This research was carried out in several stages, namely: seaweed preparation, proximate analysis, phytochemical analysis, and antioxidant activity tests carried out at the Marine Biotechnology Laboratory, Trunojoyo University Madura.  The proximate content of Eucheuma cottonii seaweed is rich in water content in fresh form and rich in ash content in dry form, while the total fat content and protein content are very low.  Bioactive compounds in Eucheuma cottonii seaweed are alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and saponins.  Eucheuma cottonii seaweed has the best antioxidant activity with methanol as a solvent with an IC50 of 757.05 ppm.  The results of this study indicate that Eucheuma cottonii seaweed has the potential to be developed in the functional food sector.Keywords: antioxidant, bioactive, Eucheuma cottonii, proximate.ABSTRAKRumput laut merupakan salah satu tanaman tingkat rendah yang berpotensi untuk dibudidayakan dan mengandung senyawa bioaktif dengan aktivitas antioksidan alami untuk menangkal radikal bebas. Salah satu jenis rumput laut yang berpotensi dikembangkan yaitu Eucheuma cottonii. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan proksimat, kandungan bioaktif dan aktivitas antioksidan dari rumput laut E. cottonii. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap yaitu: preparasi rumput laut, analisis proksimat, analisis fitokimia, dan uji aktivitas antioksidan yang dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Bioteknologi Laut, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kandungan proksimat dari rumput laut E. cottonii kaya akan kadar air dalam bentuk segar dan kaya akan kadar karbohidrat dalam bentuk kering. Senyawa bioaktif yang terdeteksi dalam rumput laut E. cottonii yaitu alkaloid, flavonoid, triterpenoid, dan saponin. Rumput laut E. ottonii  mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan terbaik dengan pelarut metanol dengan IC50 sebesar 757,05 ppm. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rumput laut Eucheuma cottonii mempunyai potensi untuk dikembangkan dalam bidang pangan fungsional.Kata Kunci: antioksidan, bioaktif, Eucheuma cottonii, proksimat

    The Effect of Ammonium Concentration Addition to Gracilaria sp. on The Absorption of Mercury

    The research was conducted from March to June 2015 in the laboratory of Marine Science of the faculty of FPIK UNPAD. The sampling of Gracilaria sp. was taken from a seaweed farming in Kalianda, Bandar Lampung Province. The aim of conducting this research is to investigate the effect of Ammonium addition to Gracilaria sp. on the absorption process of Mercury. The proportion amount of 10.5-gram Gracilaria sp.  used in this research is mixed with 3 litres seawater media. The research method was performed using Completely Randomised Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. Parameters for the measurements are water quality, reduction of mercury and ammonium concentration, bio concentration factor, and growth rate. The research was designed with an addition of 0.05 ppm Mercury in all treatments, where each treatment was given different concentrations of Ammonium as follows: treatment A: 0.5 ppm, treatment B: 1 ppm, and treatment C: 1.5 ppm, with no addition of Ammonium for Control Treatment. The result of this research showed that treatment C hit the highest absorption level in absorbing Ammonium and Mercury with their concentrations of 95.98% and 56.44% respectively in seawater media, while the concentration of Mercury in the Gracilaria sp. biomass was measured 0.47 ppm.Keywords: Absorption, Ammonium, Gracilaria sp., Phytoremediation, Mercury

    ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis logam-logam serta kadarnya di dalam sampel daging Kerang Darah (Anadara granosa) dan Kerang Bulu (Anadara antiquata) asal laut teluk Lewoleba kabupaten Lembata propinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur.  Kedua jenis kerang tersebut hidup di Pulau Siput (Awololong) yang ada di tengah kawasan laut Teluk Lewoleba.  Masyarakat Lembata menjadikan kedua jenis kerang tersebut sebagai lauk pauk serta sumber pendapatan ekonomi.   Perlu dilakukannya analisa cemaran logam berat di kawasan laut Teluk Lewoleba melalui kedua jenis kerang tersebut sebab aktivitas manusia telah semakin meningkat di kawasan teluk Lewoleba Lembata. Sebanyak 100 gram masing-masing sampel daging Kerang yang kering, didestruksi dan dianalisis kandungan unsur-unsur serta kadar unsur, menggunakan spektrofotometer X-ray Fluorescence (XRF). Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu sampel Kerang Darah mengandung unsur-unsur serta kadarnya yakni: P (10%), S (12%), K (12%), Ca (23%), Cr (0,32%), Fe (2,6%), Ni (0,2%), Cu (0,62%), Zn (20,6%), Br (3,4%), Mo (14%) dan Yb (0,9%). Sampel Kerang Buluh mengandung;  P (11,0%), S (1,0%), K (11,7%), Ca (39,2%), Cr (0,62%), Fe (8,95%), Ni (0,4%), Cu (0,49%), Zn (2,4%), Br (1,4%), Mo (22%) dan Yb (0,3%) dan Re (0,5%). Tampak kedua jenis sampel mengandung logam berat esensial berupa Cu, Fe, Zn dan Ni, serta mengadung Cr yang bersifat toksik.  Kadar Cr pada sampel Kerang Buluh lebih tinggi dari Kerang Darah.  Sampel Kerang Buluh mengandung pula unsur Re yang merupakan jenis unsur tanah jarang. Kadar logam berat Cu, Ni dan Cr pada kedua sampel melampaui ambang batas menurut Keputusan Mentri Lingkungan Hidup Republik Indonesia nomor 51 tahun 2004Kata Kunci: daging kerang, logam berat, laut teluk LewolebaABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the types of metals and their levels in the samples of Blood Clams (Anadara granosa) and Feather Shells (Anadara antiquata) from the sea of Lewoleba Bay, Lembata district, East Nusa Tenggara province. Both types of shellfish live on Slug Island (Awololong) in the middle of the Lewoleba Bay marine area. The people of Lembata use the two types of shellfish as side dishes and a source of economic income. It is necessary to analyze heavy metal contamination in the marine area of Lewoleba Bay through these two types of shells because human activities have been increasing in the Lewoleba Bay area of Lembata. A total of 100 grams of each sample of dried mussel meat, was destroyed and analyzed for the content of elements and levels of elements, using an X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectrophotometer. The results obtained were that the Blood Shellfish sample contained the following elements and levels: P (10%), S (12%), K (12%), Ca (23%), Cr (0.32%), Fe (2 .6%), Ni (0.2%), Cu (0.62%), Zn (20.6%), Br (3.4%), Mo (14%) and Yb (0.9%) . Reed Shells samples contain; P (11.0%), S (1.0%), K (11.7%), Ca (39.2%), Cr (0.62%), Fe (8.95%), Ni ( 0.4%), Cu (0.49%), Zn (2.4%), Br (1.4%), Mo (22%) and Yb (0.3%) and Re (0.5% ). It appears that both types of samples contain essential heavy metals in the form of Cu, Fe, Zn and Ni, and contain Cr which is toxic. The Cr content in the Reed Shells samples was higher than that of Blood Clams. The Reed Shells sample also contains the element Re which is a type of rare earth element. Heavy metal levels of Cu, Ni and Cr in both samples exceeded the threshold according to the Decree of the Minister of the Environment of the Republic of Indonesia number 51 of 2004.     VARIATIONS OF INDONESIAN TRHOUGHFLOW TRANSPORT IN MALUKU AND HALMAHERA SEA RELATED TO THE OCCURRENCE OF EL NINO SOUTHERN OSCILLATION

    ABSTRACTMaluku and Halmahera Sea are the entry paths for the Indonesian Throughflow (ITF). This study examined the variation of their current speed, current direction, and transport during the ENSO phases on La Nina in 2010-2011 and El Nino in 2015-2016. The data used were the Marine Copernicus reanalysis data of u and v components of current velocity at 155 m and 266 m of depth. The data were processed by using GrADS to see the direction and speed of the current as well as by calculating the ITF transport. During La Nina, both at 155 m and 266 m of depths were found the eddy patterns. When El Nino occurred, the direction of currents in Maluku Sea was different from La Nina conditions, while the direction of currents in Halmahera Sea had no differences. Current velocity in both oceans at each depth was lower during El Nino than La Nina. The condition of ITF transport in the Maluku Sea during La Nina was dominated by southward movement with a smaller value than during El Nino which generally moved northward meanwhile in the Halmahera Sea had the opposite condition.Keywords: current speed, current direction, ENSO, ITF, transpor

    ABSTRACTPangkil Village is one of the villages located in Teluk Bintan District, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province which has potential for seagrass resources, especially the type of Enhalus acoroides. This study aims to examine the growth response of seagrass E. acoroides to differences in water quality in the waters of Pangkil Village. This research was conducted in September to November 2020. The stations in sampling site was determined by purposive sampling method, there were 4 sampling stations, namely: shipping activity, boat mooring activities, catching shellfish activity, and no activity of the community (mangrove area). The measurement of the growth rate of seagrass leaves was useds the marking method on young and undamaged leaves using a cable tie. Leaf growth was observation for 60 days with intervals of 15 days. The water quality in Pangkil Village Waters meets quality standards. The highest density value of Enhalus acoroides seagrass was in the shipping activity of 64.67 ind/m2. The highest growth rate of seagrass after 60 days on Enhalus acoroides seagrass leaves was in the boat mooring activity area with value 0.401 cm/day, while the lowest growth rate of Enhalus acoroides leaves was in the area of catching shellfish activity of 0.383 cm/day.Keywords: Enhalus acoroides. density, growth rate, Pangkil WatersABSTRAKDesa Pangkil merupakan salah satu desa yang berada di Kecamatan Teluk Bintan, Kabupaten Bintan, Provinsi Kepulauan Riau yang memiliki potensi sumberdaya lamun, khususnya jenis Enhalus acoroides. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat respon pertumbuhan jenis lamun E. acoroides terhadap perbedaan kualitas air di Perairan Desa Pangkil. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September-November 2020. Penentuan stasiun ditentukan dengan metode purposive sampling, terdapat 4 stasiun pengambilan sampel yaitu: stasiun 1 merupakan wilayah perairan dengan aktivitas pelayaran (dermaga), stasiun 2 merupakan wilayah aktivitas tambatan perahu (jatty), stasiun 3 merupakan wilayah adanya aktivitas penduduk tangkap kerang, dan stasiun 4 merupakan wilayah tidak ada aktivitas penduduk (wilayah mangrove). Pengukuran laju pertumbuhan daun lamun mengunakan metode penandaan pada daun yang muda dan tidak rusak menggunakaan kabel ties. Pengamatan pertumbuhan daun selama 60 hari dengan interval waktu 15 hari sekali. Kualitas perairan fisika dan kimia di Desa Pangkil memenuhi baku mutu. Nilai kerapatan lamun Enhalus acoroides tertinggi pada berada pada aktivitas pelayaran (dermaga) sebesar 64,67 ind/m2.  Laju pertumbuhan lamun tertinggi setelah 60 hari pada daun lamun Enhalus acoroides yaitu pada wilayah aktivitas tambatan perahu (jatty) sebesar 0,401 cm/hari, sedangkan laju pertumbuhan daun lamun Enhalus acoroides terendah dapat wilayah aktivitas penduduk berupa aktivitas penangkapan kerang  sebesar 0,383 cm/hari.Kata kunci: Enhalus acoroides, kerapatan, laju pertumbuhan, Perairan Pangkil

    Proporsi Morfometrik dan Pola Pertumbuhan Kerang Darah (Anadara granosa) di Daerah Intertidal, Kota Tual

    ABSTRACTBlood clams are one type of shellfish group that has high economic value. Its existence has long been exploited by the community to be sold or used for daily life. This study aims to analyze the size distribution, growth pattern and condition factors of blood clams caught in the waters of Taar and Fair, Tual City. Samples were taken using the belt transect method. The samples were then measured for the length, width and height of the shells as well as the total weight. Blood clams obtained in Taar waters were larger and heavier than blood clams from Fair waters and were dominated by shell length class 2.57-2.85 cm. The growth pattern based on the length-weight relationship was obtained by the Taar blood clams having a b value of 3.04 and classified as positive allometric (b2.50) while the Fair waters blood clams had a b value of 2.01 and were classified as negative allometric (b2, 50). The condition factor of Taar waters obtained an average value of 0.98 and Fair waters of 1.66, indicating that the environmental conditions of the two locations were quite good for the survival of blood clams.Keywords: morphometric, growth, blood clamABSTRAK Kerang darah merupakan salah satu jenis dari kelompok kekerangan yang bernilai ekonomis tinggi. Keberadaannya sejak lama telah dieksploitasi oleh masyarakat untuk dijual maupun dipakai untuk kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis distribusi ukuran, pola pertumbuhan dan faktor kondisi kerang darah yang ditangkap di perairan Taar dan Fair, Kota Tual. Sampel diambil dengan menggunakan metode belt transect. Sampel kemudian diukur panjang, lebar dan tinggi cangkang serta berat total. Kerang darah yang diperoleh pada perairan Taar berukuran lebih besar dan berat dibandingkan kerang darah dari perairan Fair serta didominasi oleh kelas ukuran panjang cangkang 2,57-2,85 cm. Pola pertumbuhan berdasarkan hubungan panjang berat diperoleh kerang darah perairan Taar memiliki nilai b sebesar 3,04 dan tergolong allometrik positif (b2,50) sedangkan kerang darah perairan Fair memiliki nilai b sebesar 2,01 dan tergolong allometrik negatif (b2,50). Faktor kondisi perairan Taar diperoleh nilai rata-rata sebesar 0,98 dan perairan Fair sebesar 1,66 sehingga menunjukan kondisi lingkungan kedua lokasi cukup baik bagi kelangsungan hidup kerang darah.Kata kunci: morfometrik, pertumbuhan, kerang dara
