    PENGARUH PENGELOLAAN FAKTOR INTERNAL USAHATANI TERHADAP PRODUKTIVITAS LADA DI PROVINSI LAMPUNG / The Effect of Internal Farming Management Factors on The Pepper Productivity in Lampung Province

    Area and pepper production in Lampung were decreased from time to time and potential to become extinct if it isn’t immediate treatment seriously. The study were to analyze the effect of internal factors of farming management on pepper productivity in Lampung Province which is expected to provide benefits for preparing pepper development policy in the future. The study was conducted in North Lampung, East Lampung, and Way Kanan regency, from January to December 2014. The study used survey methods and interview with structured questionaire with sample of 180 people which are stratified by: a) farmers who have planted pepper but he is not planting pepper anymore; b) farmers growing pepper with conventional  technology introduction; and c) farmers who plant pepper with recommendations technology package of  IAARD. The results showed that technically of internal pepper farm management factors that affect on pepper production in Lampung is acreage, NPK Phonska, SP36 fertilization, and application of pepper monoculture cropping. Efforts to increase pepper production in Lampung could be achieved through the addition of pepper acreage supported with intensive handling pepper plants through cultivation technology properly such as NPK Phonska fertilization, SP36 fertilization, and the application of pepper monoculture cropping. The development of a relatively good price of pepper last two years should be a momentum for the revival pepper in Lampung. Support technological innovation needs to be improved through the assistance and support on the implementation of SOP accompanied by an increase farmers' access to production inputs especially fertilizer.Keywords: pepper, technical factor, socioeconomic factor, productivityAbstrakLuas area dan produksi lada di Provinsi Lampung terus berkurang dari tahun ke tahun dan terancam punah jika tidak segera dilakukan penanganan secara serius. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pengelolaan faktor internal usahatani terhadap produktivitas lada di Provinsi Lampung yang diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat dalam penyusunan kebijakan pengembangan lada ke depan . Penelitian dilakukan di Kabupaten Lampung Utara, Lampung Timur, dan Way Kanan, mulai bulan Maret sampai Desember 2014. Kajian ini menggunakan metode survei dan wawancara dengan bantuan kuisioner terstruktur dengan jumlah petani sampel 180 orang yang distratifikasi berdasarkan: a) petani yang pernah menanam lada tetapi saat ini tidak lagi menanam lada; b). petani yang menanam lada dengan introduksi t eknologi minimal (konvensional dan seadanya); dan c) petani lada yang menanam lada dengan rekomendasi paket teknologi Badan Litbang Pertanian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengelolaan faktor internal usahatani lada yang mempengaruhi produksi lada di Lampung adalah luas areal, pemupukan NPK Phonska, pemupukan SP36, dan penerapan pola tanam lada monokultur. Upaya peningkatan produksi lada di Lampung dapat ditempuh melalui penambahan luas areal lada yang didukung dengan penanganan intensif melalui penerapan teknologi budidaya dengan benar seperti pemupukan NPK Phonska, SP36, dan penerapan pola tanam lada monokultur. Perkembangan harga lada yang relatif baik pada dua tahun terakhir dapat dijadikan momentum untuk kebangkitan kembali perladaan di Lampung. Dukungan inovasi teknologi perlu ditingkatkan melalui pendampingan dan pengawalan penerapan SOP disertai peningkatan akses petani terhadap input produksi terutama ketersediaan pupuk.Kata kunci: lada, faktor teknis, sosial-ekonomi, produktivitas

    Resistance in Temanggung tobacco lines to tobacco aphid (Myzus persicae Sulzer)The evaluation on the esistance of Temanggung obacco lines against tobacco aphid was carried out in Malang, from August 19% to March 1997. The experiments consisted of antixenosis and antibiosis resistance. The teatments wee four tobacco lines fom the original population: (1) S.2258, (2) S.2132, (3) S.l%3, (4) S.1965; four lines rom selected population: (5) S.2258/2/1/1, (6) S.2132/2/2/1/1, (7) S.1%3/3/2/1/2/1, (8) S.1%5/2/1/2/1/1; one local line: (9) Kemloko (Gober genjah); two varieties resistant and susceptible o tobacco aphid: (10) Coker 176, and (11) NC95. The treatments wee arranged in randomized block design, with three replications. The esults showed that the two lines from the selection evaluation: S.2258/2/1/1 and S.1%3/3/2/1/2/1 wee resistant to tobacco aphid. Both lines had high density of leaf trichomes, and can be used as resistant resources in plant breeding activities

    PERAN HYDRAULIC LIFT JA MBU METE PADA PEMELIHARAAN LENGAS TANAH DAN STATUS AIR JAGUNG SAAT KEKERINGAN / The Role of Cashew Hydraulic Lift in Maintaining Soil Moisture and Water Status of Maize under Drought Condition

    Hydraulic lift (HL) plants are reported to share water to other plants during drought period. Our previous study found cashew had HL capability, however it was still unclear for sharing water. This study was carried out at the greenhouse of Cimanggu from May to November 2016, to evaluate whether the cashew HL could share water during drought period and its effect on maintaining soil moisture, leaf water potential, transpiration, and photosynthesis of maize. The cashew variety, B-02 and maize variety, Lamuru, planted side by side in the special designed pots, and setted in three conditions, i.e. full irrigation (B), drought without cashew HL access (K), and drought with cashew HL access (H). All of the treated plants were setted in a randomized block design with nine replicates. The results showed the cashew HL could share water to themaize. During the advanced drought periods, the soil moisture of maize was maintained higher ± 2.5% compared to it without access of cashew HL. It promoted water status of maize to be better at 8th day after drought treatment, with decrease of leaf water potential, transpiration, and photosynthesis respectively just about 30%, 36% and 32% of the values on the well irrigated condition. However, those decreased values reached 40%, 70% and 57% for the maize without cashew HL access. This study showed the cashew HL quite effectively induced the sharing water to the maize during drought periods, and alleviated the worse effects of drought stress, so that the maize could maintain a good soil moisture and tissue water status.Keywords: cashew, hydraulic lifts, sharing water, leaf water potential,maize AbstrakTanaman hydraulic lift (HL) dilaporkan dapat memasok air pada tanaman lain di sekitarnya saat periode kekeringan. Hasil studi sebelumnya menunjukkan jambu mete memiliki kemampuan HL, namun belum diketahui potensi pasokan airnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan di komplek rumah kaca Cimanggu antara Mei-November 2016 dengan tujuan mengevaluasi kemampuan pasokan air dari hydraulic lift jambu mete pada periode kekeringan dan efeknya terhadap status air jaringan jagung yang tumbuh di sekitarnya. Jambu mete varietas B-02 dan jagung varietas Lamuru ditanam berdampingan pada pot dengan desain khusus, yang diatur dalam tiga kondisi perlakuan, yakni selalu berkecukupan air (B), kekeringan tanpa ada akses HL jambu mete (K), dan kekeringan dengan akses HL jambu mete (H). Ketiga perlakuan kondisi tanaman tersebut ditempatkan di rumah kaca dalam rancangan acak kelompok dengan sembilan ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan HL jambu mete dapat memasok air pada jagung, sehingga pada periode kekeringan tingkat lanjut, lengas tanahnya menjadi lebih tinggi ± 2,5% dibandingkan jagung tanpa akses HL jambu mete. Adanya pasokan air tersebut menyebabkan status air jaringan jagung selama periode kekeringan menjadi lebih baik dengan tingkat penurunan nilai dari kondisi kecukupan air pada potensial air daun, transpirasi, dan fotosintesis berturut-turut hanya sekitar 30%, 36%, dan 32%, dibandingkan penurunan nilai tersebut pada kondisi tanpa akses HL jambu mete yang mencapai 40%, 70%, dan 66%. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan pasokan air pada jagung oleh HL jambu mete cukup efektif pada periode kekeringan, dan membantu meringankan efek stres kekeringan pada jagung sehingga dapat memelihara status air jaringannya tetap baik

    Intrinsic growth rate of Helopeltis antonii Sign. (Hemip- tera; Miridae) on cucumberfruit as an alternativefoodThe study on the intinsic rate of natural increase of Helopeltis antonii Sign. On cucumber ruit as an alternative food was conducted in the pest and disease Laboratory, Research Institute for Spice and Medicinal Crops Bogor rom January o June 1998. Helopeltis antonii is well known as the pest of cashew, cacao and tea The objectives of the experiment wee to study the reproduction rate and fecundity of H antonii. The insects were collected from the field of cashew tees in Bogor. A pair of newly emerged adult was eleased into a plastic jar containing cucumber fruit. The fruit was changed daily until the insects died. A newly emerged nymph was eaed individually in a plastic cup containing a peace of cucumber ruit which was renew every 2 days. Birch exponential equation: N,=No.e" was used for analyzing data. The results showed that intrinsic rate (r) of//, antonii was 0.106. Net eproduction rate (Rn) was 18.952 times for each generation. The generation period was 27.747 days. The value of finite rate of increase was 1.1 12 times/day. After one month and two months a pair of insect would multiply to 24 and 578 pairs, espectively

    Effects of water stress on plant growth and production of cashewTo complete the characteristic tests of prospective numbers of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L). research on the production stability and envi¬ ronmental stress tolerance were conducted. The objectives of the research were to study the effects of the water stress on the growth performance, inflorescent formation, production and quality of cashew. The research activi¬ ties wee caried out at Cimanggu Research Insulation from Apil 1995 to March 1998. The research used factorial randomized block design with 3 replications and 4 plants per pot. The treatments tested were wateing intervals (A) of 2, 4. 8. and 12 days with 9 mm deep of water for each treatments Prospective numbers of cashew (N) namely Pecangakan. Jepara F2-10. Balak¬ risnan B-02. and Silanka S-21. The results obtained 13 months ater gratings or 11 months ater the application showed that water stress and prospective numbers significantly affected the vegetative growth of the plants namely plant height, primary branch number, secondary branch numbers and canopy diameter. Amongst the prospective numbers, Balakrisnan B-02 had lower growth rate compared with Pecangakan. Jepara F2-I0, and Silanka S-21. Water stress significantly affected the formation of inflorescence, which tended to decrease along with the increase of water stress. On the same level of water stress, the inflorenscent formation of Jepara F2-10 was more domi¬ nant than the other numbers. However the proportion of male flowers, hermaprodite, and the ratio ofhermaprodite flowers to total number of flowers wee not significantly affected by water stress. The difference of inflorescent formation of prospective numbers was significant on the formation of the male flowers only, the highest was Srilanka S-21 and the lowest was Jepara F2- 10. The water stress showed significant effect on the number of the pods per tree, production and the protein content of the cashew nuts. The number of pods per tree and the production tended to decrease along with the increase of water stress, while the protein content of the cashew nut tend to increase along with the water stress incease The number of pods and production per tree were highest on Balakisnan B-02 followed by Pecangakan. Jepara F2-10 and Silanka S-21. espectively, where as the highest protein content of Ihe cashew kernel was on Balakrisnan B-02

    PENGARUH INOVASI TEKNOLOGI DAN PENGGUNAAN INPUT TERHADAP PRODUKTIVITAS KELAPA SAWIT DI PROVINSI KALIMANTAN BARAT / Influence of Technological Innovation and Use of Production Input on Productivity of Oil Palm in West Kalimantan Province

    Indonesian government within the framework of the Master Plan for the Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesian Economic Development (MP3EI) have established oil palm as the main commodity to be developed in the so-called corridor of Kalimantan. This is mainly due to the commodity role as Indonesia's main export commodities as well as the tipping point of regional economic development in ensuring the welfare of local farmers in a sustainable manner. West Kalimantan is one of the centers of the development of oil palm in Kalimantan, after Central Kalimantan. This study aimed to analyze the role of the superior technology and use of production inputs to improve the productivity of oil palm and the factors that influence the adoption of new technologies at the farm level. Results of decomposition analysis of productivity showed that the productivity of oil palm plantations increased by 45.59%. The role of the difference in the applied technology is 22.62% and 22.97% came from the difference in input use. Quality of seeds available/planted by farmers contributed significantly to the level of productivity. Adequate provision of improved seed policies must be the top priority in efforts to improve the productivity of oil palm in the future. The policy needs to be accompanied by quality control and distribution of improved seed is strictly and continuously. The next priority policies should be aimed at encouraging farmers to use production inputs as recommended . In order for the policy to be effective, it needs to be supported by the trading system improvements to ensure the feasibility of palm oil prices at the farm level.Keywords: oil palm, decomposition of productivity, innovation, production inputs AbstrakPemerintah Indonesia dalam kerangka Masterplan Percepatan dan Perluasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Indonesia (MP3EI) telah menetapkan komoditas kelapa sawit sebagai komoditas utama untuk lebih dikembangkan di wilayah Kalimantan Barat atau disebut koridor Kalimantan. Hal ini terutama disebabkan oleh peran komoditas ini sebagai komoditas ekspor utama Indonesia dan sekaligus sebagai titik ungkit pembangunan ekonomi daerah dalam menjamin peningkatan kesejahteraan petani setempat secara berkelanjutan. Kalimantan Barat merupakan salah satu sentra pengembangan kelapa sawit di Kalimantan, setelah Kalimantan Tengah, oleh sebab itu penelitian dilaksanakan di Kalimantan Barat pada tahun 2013. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran teknologi unggulan dan penggunaan input produksi terhadap perbaikan produktivitas kelapa sawit dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi adopsi teknologi baru di tingkat petani. Hasil analisis dekomposisi produktivitas menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan teknologi unggulan (karakterisik teknologi unggulan perbaikan manajemen produksi, serta penggunanan input sesuai anjuran) menyebabkan produktivitas kelapa sawit meningkat sebesar 45,59%. Dari peningkatan tersebut, sebesar 22,62% bersumber dari adanya perbedaan teknologi yang diterapkan dan 22,97% bersumber dari adanya perbedaan penggunaan input. Kualitas benih yang tersedia/ditanam petani memberikan kontribusi nyata terhadap tingkat produktivitas. Dalam upaya meningkatkan produktivitas sawit, maka penyediaan benih unggul yang memadai harus menjadi kebijakan prioritas utama dalam pengembangan kebun sawit ke depan. Kebijakan prioritas berikutnya dapat ditujukan untuk mendorong petani agar menggunakan input produksi sesuai anjuran.     EFEKTIVITAS MINYAK JARAK PAGAR DAN JAMUR Beauveria bassiana UNTUK PENGENDALIAN HAMA Helopeltis spp . PADA KAKAO / Effectivity of Jatropha Oil and Beauveria bassiana Fungi to Control Helopeltis spp. on Cacao

    The oil of jatropha seeds has a potency as botanical pesticide, because of its chemical subtances which are unsaponifiable such as streoester, tryacycerol, diacilglicerol, sterol, monoacilglycerol and others. The chemical substances which are toxic to insect are sterol and triterpene alcohol. The other substance in fruits and seeds which is also toxic is curcin. The objective of this research is to find out the efectivity of jatropha cake and oil on mortality of Helopeltis spp. combined with commercial B. bassiana. Two factors were used in this activity i.e. accessions of Jatropha curcas and strains of B. bassiana. Accession factors consist of nine levels based on phorbol ester and curcin, as B. bassiana consists of three strains, so there were 27 combinations of treatments. The research used factorially block design with three replications. Variables observed were damage intensity, mortality of helopeltis and the effect on cacao seeds and B. bassiana development. The formulation contained 20% of jatropha oil or cake, 60% of solvent, 10% of emulsifiers and others. This formula was diluted in water with 10% concentration. The result of the research were a) Jatropha oil and cake had the same effect on insect mortality b) the combination between two accessions of jatropha (C100 and JW) and ED7 resulted 97-100% mortality, while c) B80 and C81 gave the highest mortality on Helopeltis spp. without the use of fungi.Keywords: Beauveria bassiana, cacao, Helopeltis spp, Jatropha curcas oil AbstrakMinyak biji jarak pagar berpotensi seb agai pestisida nabati, karena mengandung bahan kimia yang bersifat toksik terhadap serangga. Suatu penelitian telah dilakukan di Bogor dan Cianjur dari bulan Januari sampai dengan Desember 2012 untuk mengetahui efektifitas minyak dan bungkil biji jarak pagar dikombinasikan dengan Beauveria bassiana terhadap mortalitas Helopeltis spp. pada pertanaman kakao dan melihat tingkat kerusakannya. Kegiatan penelitian disusun dalam 2 faktor perlakuan yaitu aksesi jarak pagar dan strain B. bassiana. Aksesi terdiri dari 9 level dipilih dari berbagai jenis yang proporsinya berbeda antara curcin dan phorbol ester. Faktor kedua B. bassiana terdiri atas 3 level yaitu strain yang berasal dari kumbang Scolytidae dan Tingidae serta kontrol, sehingga kombinasi seluruhnya menjadi 27 perlakuan. Rancangan yang digunakan faktorial dalam kelompok dan diulang tiga kali. Banyaknya buah per perlakuan adalah tiga buah per tanaman. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap mortalitas serangga, banyaknya bercak per buah dan pengaruhnya terhadap biji, serta perkembangan B. bassiana. Helopeltis spp. diinfestasikan ke buah kakao yang telah dikerodong. Konsentrasi larutan yang disemprotkan adalah 10 cc/l. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Minyak dan bungkil jarak pagar memberikan efek yang sama terhadap mortalitas Helopeltis (2) Pemilihan aksesi terbaik tergantung dari ada-tidaknya jamur B. bassiana. Bila tersedia B. bassiana strain ED7 pilihan aksesi yaitu C100, dan jarak wangi. Kedua aksesi tersebut bila dikombinasikan dengan strain ED7 menghasilkan mortalitas 97-100%, (3) Apabila jamur B. bassiana tidak tersedia, pilihannya adalah B80 dan C81 karena efektivitasnya paling tinggi tanpa dikombinasikan dengan jamur B. bassiana.Kata kunci: minyak jarak pagar, B.bassiana, Helopeltis sp., kaka

    Prediction of dryspell and the onset of rainy season to im¬ prove cotton planting time in East JavaClimatic elements paticularly rainfall strongly influences successful prediction of rainfed cotton yield. Rainfall variability varies amongst the seasons. Thepreviousplantingtimcs were determined based in 10 years daily rainfall data (1975-1984). Longterm rainfall data are required for rainfall analysis to get reliable probabilities The rainfall analysis was done using Markov Cham First Order Probability and dryspcll probability methods. The rainfall data were collected from 17 rainfall stations in East Java (Banyuwangi, Situbondo. Probolinggo, Jember, Lumajang, Pasuruan, Mojokerto.Tuban and I -amongan). The planting times varied from the first week to the fouth week of December for Pasuruan, Probolinggo. Situbondo, Jember. and Banyu¬ wangi: for these areas sequential system of cotton ater maize is not recom¬ mended due to short rainy season The planting times in Lumajang. Lanongan. Mojoketo. and Tuban ranged from mid December to early January, sufficient length of rainy season suppoted sequential system in these areas. The improved cotton planting times were 1 -2 weeks earlier or later than the previous planting times

    Cashew (Annacardium occidentale L.) productivity in Indonesia is still low compared with other cashew producing countries, may be the use of low genetic quality of plant material. On of the efforts to improve the productivity is by using high quality genetic materials, which may be done by implementation of top-working technology. Top-working technology may be used to replace existing plants in the field with superior varieties rapidly through grafting method, without having to uproot the existing plants. Top-working on cashew nut crop is still not much information and the success rate is still relatively low when compared to fruit crops. Information on top-working in cashew is still scarce and with little success. Therefore, it is necessary to study the application of IBA to increase grafting success of top-working on cashew. The study was conducted at Cikampek Experimental Station (ES) from January to June 2016. The rootstock is 7 years old, the varieties used for the scion and rootstock are B02. Cashew tree trunks were cut about 1.2 - 1.5 m above ground level during rainy season. The scion used has a length of ± 15 cm and a diameter of 5 - 7 mm with the dormant bud. The design used was a randomized, single factor, with seven replications. The treatments tested were concentrations of IBA (0, 300, 600, and 900 ppm). The parameters measured were the percentage of grafting success, shoot length, leaves number, khlorophyl, and field determination of compatibility constant (FCC). The results showed that 600 ppm IBA application significantly increased the percentage of grafting success, shoot length, leaves number, and the highest FCC value (87.50%, 12.08 cm, leaf 11.40, and 13.84)Keywords: Annacardium occidentale L., auxin, productivity, percentage of grafting success, top-working AbstrakProduktivitas jambu mete (Annacardium occidentale L.) di Indonesia masih rendah yang disebabkan oleh penggunaan bahan tanaman dari biji dengan mutu genetik yang rendah. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan produktivitas jambu mete adalah penerapan teknologi top-working yaitu teknologi menggantikan tanaman tidak unggul di lapang dengan varietas unggul secara cepat melalui cara penyambungan, tanpa harus membongkar tanaman. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendapatkan konsentrasi IBA yang tepat untuk meningkatkan persentase keberhasilan dan pertumbuhan sambungan top working pada tanaman jambu mete. Penelitian dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan (KP) Cikampek mulai bulan Januari sampai Juni 2016. Varietas yang digunakan untuk batang atas (entres) dan batang bawah yaitu B02, dan batang bawah berumur 7 tahun. Pada musim hujan dilakukan pemotongan batang pohon jambu mete setinggi 1,2 – 1,5 m di atas permukaan tanah. Batang atas yang digunakan berukuran panjang ± 15 cm dan diameter 5 – 7 mm dengan mata tunas yang masih tidur (dorman). Rancangan yang digunakan adalah acak kelompok dengan empat perlakuan dan tujuh ulangan. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah konsentrasi IBA (0, 300, 600, dan 900 ppm). Peubah yang diamati adalah persentase sambungan hidup, panjang tunas, jumlah daun, kandungan klorofil, dan kompatibilitas berdasarkan nilai konstan field determination of compatibility constant (FCC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi IBA 600 ppm dinilai cukup efisien dan efekftif dalam menghasilkan persentase sambungan hidup, panjang tunas, jumlah daun, dan kandungan klorofil.Kata kunci: Annacardium occidentale L., auksin, produktivitas, persen-tase keberhasilan sambungan, top-working

Split plot design in three replicates was used, planting system of soybean (sowed and planted in a hole) was the main plot and the rate of N fertilizer (30 kg N/ha, 60 kg N/ha and 90 kg N/ha) was the sub plot. Urea and ZA were used as source of N; SP36 for P20, and KCI for KjO. The rate of SP36 was 50 kg/ha and KCI was 50 kg/ha. One third of the full dosage of N (ZA) and the full dosage of P]Oj (SP36) and K20 (KCI) were applied at the time of planting While 2/3 of N were applied 6 weeks after planting. Cotton variety used in this study was ISA 205 A and soybean was Willis. Cropping pattern was 2 rows of cotton and 5 rows of soybean. Planting space of cotton was (190) 60 cm x 30 cm (2 plants per hole), hence the population was 53 280 plants per hectare. Plant spacing of soybean was 30 cm x 20 cm (2 plant per hole), hence the population was 200 000 plants per hectare. Parameters evaluated were the growth of cotton plant (height and canopy); component of yield (vegetative and generative branch, square shedding and number of bolls), and population of pest. The results showed that increasing the dosage of N from 30 (50% of the recommended dosage) to 60 kg (recommended dosage) and 90 kg (150% of the recommended) resulted in increased population of H. armigera from 12.33 insect to 18.77 and 17.00 insect, Erias sp. from 93.17 to 51.50 and 51.50 and S. bigutulla fom 103.5 to 102.50 and 122.30 insects per plant. Increased population of pest was followed by increased frequency of spraying from 2.50 to 3.50 and 3.67 times. Application of 30 kg N/ha decreased the population of// armigera, Earias sp. and 5. biguttula. however, the highest yield of cotton (1 580.16 kg/ha) was gained by applying 60 kg N/ha. Soybean planted by broascasting method had greater effect on cotton and soybean yields than dibbling method
