    Analisis Kesulitan Siswa Pada Materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variable di Kelas VIII SMPN 8 Banda Aceh

    Solving the problem of a two-variable linear equation system is the process of determining the solution to a two-variable linear equation system. However, in reality, many junior high school students have difficulty solving the problem of a two-variable system of linear equations. It is important to study student difficulties to get an idea of what obstacles students experience when studying or solving mathematical problems. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII.5 State Junior High School 8 Banda Aceh totaling 26 students. This research instrument uses a mathematical problem solving test instrument and interview guidelines. Data analysis is done by reducing, presenting, and concluding. The results of the analysis showed that 38% had difficulty understanding the concept, 20% had difficulty applying the method, and 29% had verbal difficulties in solving SPLDV using the substitution method, the elimination method, the mixed method, and the graphic method. The implications of the research results can be used as a reference for teachers in knowing the difficulties experienced by students in solving SPLDV problems

    One of the goals in the mathematics learning curriculum is problem-solving ability. Word problems are the closest and often encountered problems in the real world. This study aims to determine the problem-solving ability of Year 8 students in one of the junior high school in Aceh Besar students regarding word problems. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The subjects in this study were 25 Year 8 students. The data were collected through tests and interviews. The test data were used to examine the student's problem-solving ability and the interview data results were intended to verify the test result data. The test results data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and the interview data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The conclusion of this research is that students' ability in solving word problems is divided into two levels, namely, low-level abilities and high-level abilities. Low-ability students have problem-solving abilities including problem understanding and problem-solving planning, but are still lacking in the ability to implement plans and re-examine.     One effort to enhance human resources is through learning mathematics. Achieving the objectives of learning mathematics requires creative thinking skills. However, several research results clearly showed that students' creative thinking abilities remained relatively low. Mathematics Problem Based Learning learning model is one model that can construct students' creative thinking skills and it can be applied to quadrilateral material. The research problem of this study is whether there is an increase in students' creative thinking skills after experiencing Problem Based Learning model on quadrilateral material in Year 7 of junior high school. The approach used was a quantitative approach with true experimental design, one-group pretest and posttest. The research population was all students of class VII-1 (28 people). Data collection was done by a test. The data analysis showed that tcountand or tcount ttable. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem based learning model can improve the mathematical creative thinking skills Year 7 students at SMP Negeri 1 Darul Makmur Nagan Raya

    Student learning activities can be improved by a Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative model using videoscribe. Video scribe learning media could increase students' interest in learning mathematics. This study aims to determine whether the implementation of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) type cooperative learning model using videoscribe increase student learning outcomes at a junior high school,SMP IT Lukmanul Hakim. Data on student learning outcomes was obtained from a posttest and analyzed quantitatively using a t-test. Hypothesis test of learning outcomes data using the t-test with a significant level () = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (dk) = 15 obtained tcount ttable(7.74 1.75). This study concluded that the application of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) type cooperative model using videoscribe on Cartesian coordinates material has succecced and the students were engaged in the learning activities

    Students' low critical thinking skills were due to the lack of teachers' ability to foster it during the learning process. This research applied the TPACK teaching tools framework with problem-based learning in the mathematics classroom to examine and develop the level of critical thinking skills of Year 10 students at one of the senior high schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The research instrument was formative tests given at the end of the lessons. The students' test showed that there was a lack of critical thinking skills at the beginning of the lesson. The last test showed that tificant positive development toward the level of students' critical thinking skills during the learning process using the TPACK learning framework with the problem-based learning model

    Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis dan Kemandirian Belajar Siswa Melalui Flipped Classroom-Collaborative Learning

    This study aimed to describe students' mathematical communication skills, examine their improvement and describe students' learning independence during the learning. This study applied a mixed-method approach with a concurrent embedded strategy. Samples were selected by random sampling, 32 Year 10 students from one of the senior high schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. The instrument used to obtain data on students' mathematical communication skills during the learning were a daily test, observations, and interviews. The instrument used to obtain data on the improvement of students 'mathematical communication skills after learning were pretest and posttest. While the instrument used to describe students' learning independence during the learning was a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using a rubric to assess mathematical communication skills, a Paired-sample t-test, and descriptive statistics. The results showed that students could communicate mathematically orally and in writing related to the trigonometric function graph material during the learning. Furthermore, there was an increase and a significant effect on students' mathematical communication skills scores. This study also showed that students have independent learning during the learning using Flipped Classroom-Collaborative Learning (FC-CL). Therefore, teachers are expected to expand the application FC-CL to other materials

    Kemampuan Siswa dalam Merencanakan Penyelesaian Masalah melalui Pendekatan Matematika Realistik yang Mengintegrasikan Nilai Islami

    This study aimed to examine students' abilities in planning problem-solving through a realistic mathematical approach integrating Islamic values in one of the junior high schools in Aceh, Indonesia. This research employed a mix-method approach. The population of this study was all Year 7 students in the school studied (35 students). The sample was one group chosen randomly (7 students). The data were collected through tests of problem-solving abilities and semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed descriptively by comparing the data from the test results and interviews to describe the ability of problem-solving planning. The results showed that the students' ability of problem-solving planning through a realistic mathematical approach developed for each lesson. In the first lesson, three out of seven students met the ability of problem-solving planning. Furthermore, in the second lesson, five out of seven, and in the third lesson, six out of seven students fulfilled the ability of problem-solving planning. This research implies that teachers can expand the application of a realistic mathematical approach integrating Islamic values to other materials to foster the ability of problem-solving planning

    Students must understand mathematical concepts. However, the observations revealed a lack of students' understanding of mathematical concepts because learning conditions remain conventional. The teacher is dominant in conveying information, and students only memorize concepts in the form of formulas without understanding. The Two Stay Two Stray model can increase the understanding of these concepts. This model is applied to the topic of number patterns. This study aimed to examine the achievement of students' minimum criteria of mastery learning (known as KKM in Indonesia)and their improvement in understanding the concept after implementing the model in Year 8 at one of the junior high schools in Aceh Besar, Indonesia. This research is quasi-experiment type using pre-test and post-test. This study selected the population of all Year 8 students of the school studied, and the sample was 20 Year 8 students. Data collection involved giving five short answer questions during the pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed using the Gain Score and t-test. The results concluded that students could achieve the KKM, and their understanding of the concept was increased to the medium category

    Analysis of Question Levels Design through Vertex-Edge and Graph Chapter for Prekindergarten-Grade 2

    This paper focuses on vertex-edge and graph topics in Prekindergarten to Grade 2, including an overview of the design level of the question and student's strategy in solving problems related to the topic. It discusses how the topic should be introduced in Prekindergarten to Grade 2 and the efforts to facilitate and support the level-question adoption of vertex-edge and graph topics for those graders. Fourteen students participated in this study from different schools in South Sumatra, Indonesia. This research was a development study using design research implementation with quantitative data analysis by testing, and qualitative by face-to-face interview. The results showed that students assessed a question categorized into easy, medium, and hard levels according to the questions' complexity. This study can be used as a guidance to teach vertex-edge and graph topics more interestingly

    The engagement of students' initiative in designing the floor plan has received less attention from the teacher. Student engagement can be seen from the student's initiative in designing a floor plan during learning. One strategy that can be used is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). STEM integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This study aimed to describe the students' initiative in designing floor plans through STEM at one of the junior high schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. This is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were seven Year 7 students. Data collection was carried out using observation sheets. Student initiatives in this study were measured by eight indicators: trying to do their job perfectly and seriously, not doing it carelessly, actively participating in discussions, doing more than assigned work, not being communicative, asking questions to get more information, raising hands before responding to questions or expressing opinions, referring to his/her dictionary, encyclopedia, or other references for information, and meeting teachers to discuss learning material before or after school. The results showed that the students' initiative increased in designing floor plans through STEM. This can be seen from students who meet the eight indicators of the initiative. Thus, it can be concluded that all indicators in this study were fulfilled so that students can complete project assignments well
