Uninterrupted sorrow
For large orchestra, duration 15 minutes. This work was commissioned by the BBC and written for the BBC Symphony Orchestra as Associate Composer. It was premiered on 1 August 2002, conducted by Andrew Davies as part of the BBC Proms. This piece is also No. 2 from Etudes and Elegies (see http://researchonline.rcm.ac.uk/id/eprint/1927/), and the set of three pieces were first performed together on 18 January 2003 at the Barbican Hall, London, conducted by Leonard Slatkin. Voices on the air
For chamber ensemble of eight players (flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, horn, percussion, violoncello, 2 violins, viola), duration 5 minutes. This work was commissioned by Uproar and BBC Radio 3 for BBC Radio 3’s New Music Show. The first broadcast performance was given by Uproar conducted by Michael Rafferty at BBC Maida Vale Studios on 20 March 2021
Wych elm
Two pieces for flute, viola and harp, duration 5 minutes. Wych Elm was commissioned by National Youth Arts Wales in celebration of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales’ 75th Anniversary. The first performance was given online by members of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales on 21st October 2021
Channel rose
For soprano saxophone and vibraphone, duration c.4 minutes. This work was commissioned by Eleesha Drennan Dance for the production Channel Rose as part of the Sky Arts Fellowship.
The premiere was given on 5 December 2014 by Simon Haram and Julian Warburton at Dance House, Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff as part of the London Sinfonietta New Music Show
