UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETIL ASETAT DAUN BINAHONG (Anredera scandens (L.) Moq.) TERHADAP Shigella flexneri BESERTA PROFIL KROMATOGRAFI LAPIS TIPIS
Antibacterial compounds that can be used for the treatment of infections causedby bacteria. Traditionally, Anredera scandens is one of plant used as traditionalmedicine. The aims of this research are to find out the antibacterial activity of ethylacetate extract of Anredera scandens leaf and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration(MBC) against Shigella flexneri and to identify the chemical subtances of the ethylacetate extract found in Anredera scandens. The Anredera scandens leaf was extractedby use of maseration method using ethyl acetate as solvent. The antibacterial assay wasdone using liquid dilution method with varied concentration of Anredera scandens(8,5%, 8%, 7,5%, 7%, 6,5%, 6%, 5,5%, dan 5% w/v) to determine MBC.Chromatography test was done to identify the chemical substances of Anrederascandens extract. The result of this research showed that the MBC of Anrederascandens leaf extract was 8% w/v. The result of the phytochemical screening with tubetest and thin layer chromatogram showed that the extract of Anredera scandens leafcontained, polyphenols, and saponin
OPTIMASI KOMPOSISI TWEEN 80 DAN SPAN 80 SEBAGAI EMULGATOR DALAM REPELAN MINYAK ATSIRI DAUN SERE (Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf) TERHADAP NYAMUK Aedes aegypti BETINA PADA BASIS VANISHING CREAM DENGAN METODE SIMPLEX LATTICE DESIGN
The disease of Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is caused by the bite of femaleAedes aegypti mosquito. Cream of repelan sere leaf essential oils can be used to preventmosquito bites. The cream of volatile oil sere (Cymbopogon citratus (DC) Stapf)required emulsifier to maintain the stability of cream. Tween 80 and Span 80 is a widelyused emulsifier in a cream formula. Aims of this study is to determine the optimumcomposition of Tween 80 and Span 80 as emulsifier in a cream repelan of sere leafessential oils in the basis Vanishing Cream with Simplex Lattice Design methode. ThreeFormula cream is designed based on the Simplex Lattice Design methode with a ratio ofTween 80: Span 80 as follows: FI (100%-0%), F II (50%-50%), F III (0%-100%).Cream was then tested repelan activity and physical properties that includespreadibility, adhesivity and irritation. Data of physical properties and repellantactivity was calculate to get the optimum formula. The validity of optimization methodswas evaluated by comparing experimental results with predicted results in optimumcream formula with t test at 95% level of confidence. The results of study showed that theoptimum composition of Tween 80: Span 80 was 60%:40%. Cream with optimumemulsifier composition was predicted has spreadibility 29.24 cm2; adhesivity 3.512seconds; irritation 0.608; power repelan 41.469 minutes. T test results showed nosignificant differences between the experimental results and predicted results (p<0.05)
FORMULASI TABLET SERBUK PISANG RAJA (Musa xparadisiaca AAB) SEBAGAI PENUTUP TUKAK LAMBUNG PADA TIKUS
Mucoadhesive is a topic of current interest in the design of drug delivery systemand treatment of peptic ulcers. This concept is based on the strength of adhesion of aprotective material to the mucosa. King Banana (Musa xparadisiaca AAB) is oftenused in the treatment of abdominal pain. It has been suspected having muchoadhesivestrength to cover peptic ulcer. The study was armed to formulate king banana tabletwhich has muchoadhesive ability to protect gastric mucosa become ulcer. The aim ofpeptic ulcer cover test was to see the ability of king banana tablet to covered ulcer at thegroups test that received different treatment of the negative control group (solvent), thebanana tablet suspension group, and sucralfate group. The ulcer severity wasdetermined by scoring method. All experimental data were tested by SPSS analyticalstatistics. The result showed that king banana tablet has similar strength to peptic ulcercover of sucralfat and not significantly different
POTENSI PERAN FARMASIS DALAM MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS HIDUP PASIEN LANJUT USIA: PERSPEKTIF RAWAT RUMAH
The Home Health Care program is getting popular as well. One of the outcomemeasured in this program is patient’s quality of life. Home Health Care program is amultidisciplin program, which need the pharmacist role. The aim of this study was tofind out the potencial pharmacist role in increasing elderly patients’quality of lifeparticipated in Home Health Care program. This study used descriptive design withprospective data sampling. (World Health Organization Quality of Life) We usedWHOQoL as the instrument. The study period was conducted for 13 week in 2009 byvisiting the patients at their homes. The patients were participated in Home HealthCare program of Dr Sardjito hospital, Yogyakarta. Data was descriptively analized.We're recruited seven subjects in this study. In average, their quality of life was low(46,1±4,4). All of the patients received polypharmacy and were found the patientsincompliance in taking the medicines. The role of pharmacist were important in HomeHealth Care program for elderly patients to increase their quality of life. Thepharmacists are supposed to do the drug used monitoring, especially to the elderlypatients with polypharmacy. The advance technique for communication, information,and education is suggested to the pharmacist in this program
SINTESIS 4–HIDROKSI–5–KLORO–3–METOKSIBENZALDEHID DAN ELUSIDASI STRUKTURNYA
The new compound have been synthesis with the chlorination reaction of vanillinwhich aims to produce vanillin chlorinated as raw material in the synthesis ofanalogues of curcumin with Cl substituents on the aromatic ring. The structure of thiscompound have been elucidated. Chlorination of vanillin performed using Cl2 gas,which produced by reaction of kaporit with concentrated hydrochloric acid. Thisreaction takes at temperature 35ºC for 30 minutes, with the AlCl3 as catalyst and THFas solvent. The purity of compound synthesized are determined by melting point andthin layer chromatography. The structure identification of the compound synthesizedconducted using spectrometry techniques, including UV–Vis spectra, infrared spectra(cm-1, KBr) and Nuclear Magnetic resonance proton spectra (, ppm, DMSO-d6,1H–NMR, 500 MHz). Chlorination reaction of vanillin produced yellow crystal of 5chloro–4–hydroxy–3–methoxybenzaldehyde, its melting point is 163.3 to 164.8ºC. Theaverage yield obtained of the this reseach is 40.54%

The potensial drug interaction is potential action of a drug that changed orinfluced by other drugs concurrenly. Drug interactions are defined as a phenomenonthat occurs when the pharmacokinetic effect of a drug changes due to other drugdelivery. Drug interactions could cause advers drug reactions when the potential for apreviously unknown interaction. The purpose of this study is to identify potential druginteractions in patient hospitalized in the Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo PurwokertoHospital. The research method was an observasional retrospective study (November2009-January 2010) by using descriptive methods for the data analysis.The resultshowed that the potential drug interactions in the hospitalized patients in Prof. Dr.Margono Soekarjo Hospital is 56,76% (n= 259). Based on the significance categorieswhich proposed by Tatro (2006): a potential drug interaction with significancecategory 1 in ward patients in prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital is 16,67%. Thedrug used thet known potential interaction, especially in the category of significance 1should be tailored to the patient’s need, risk and benefit, and have made efforts tooptimize it
ISOLASI DAN AKTIVITAS LARVACIDA MINYAK ATSIRI AKAR (Curcuma mangga, Val.) TERHADAP LARVA Aedes Aegypti DAN PROFIL GC-MS NYA
Curcuma mangga, Val. has been recognized as a traditional drug since a longtime ago. The active ingrediences of this plant especially the volatile oil containsmonoterpenes and sesquiterpenes. This research was aimed to study about thelarvacide’s activity of the volatile oil Curcuma mangga, Val. rhizome and also toanalyze its chemical compounds using the GC-MS. The volatile oil was isolated fromCurcuma mangga, Val. with steam and water distillation. The test method for larvicidewas done by dissolving the substances into water and added by Tween 20 10% v/v to thethe volatile oil. The concentration of the volatile oil of Curcuma mangga, Val. rhizomewere 100 ppm, 150 ppm, 200 ppm, 250 ppm, 300 ppm, and 350 ppm. The concentrationof positive control “abate†were 0,01 ppm; 0,025 ppm; 0,05 ppm; 0,1 ppm; 0,5 ppmwhile as the negative control was Tween 20 solution. The perception time of larvae’smortality was 24 hours. The chemical compound of Curcuma mangga, Val. can beanalysed by the GC-MS. Data of larvae’s mortality were used to estimate the values ofLC50 with the probit analyzis method. This study showed that the volatile oil of Curcumamangga, Val. have clear-brass colour, bitter taste, typically aromatic like mango,rendement equal to (1,23 ± 0,029)% v/b and refractive index 1,4881. The value of LC50for the volatile oil of Curcuma mangga, Val. rhizome is (216,17 ±12,51) ppm whileabate equal to (0,072 ± 0,024) ppm. This finding indicates that abate were more potentto larvae of Aedes aegypti. The GC-MS showes 30 peaks chromatogram and six peakswhich indicates the possibility of alpha-pinene, camphene, beta-pinene, beta-myrcene,eukalyptole, ar-turmerone presence
VALIDASI METODE ANALISA PENETAPAN KADAR EPIGALOKATEKIN GALAT DENGAN KLT DENSITOMETRI
TLC Densitometry is one of method which was used to measure amount of activesubstance. Active substance of epigallocathechin gallate is one of in green tea extractcream. Method of analysis must be validated to prove that method will give the dataclose with the real value. Aim of this research is to prove that TLC Densitometry methodhave liniearity, precision and accuration that fulfill the requirement. This study usedconcentration 600, 1800 and 3000 ug/ml with 3 replications to measure precision(based on value of CV) and accuration (based on value of recovery). Liniearity wasknown based on value of r of curve regression between concentration and wide area ofchromatogram. LOD and LOQ was calculated based on curve regression. Researchshowed that method of analyse had liniearity with r= 0,98. Value of CV concentrationof 600, 1800 and 3000 ug/ml were 8,18%; 3,19% and 1,53%, respectively and recoverywere 88,10%; 99,65% dan 111,33%, respectively. Value of LOD was 827,01 µg/ml andLOQ was 2756,69 µg/ml
STUDI KAPASITAS ADSORPSI-REDUKSI ION Au(III) PADA ASAM HUMAT HASIL ISOLASI DARI TANAH GAMBUT RAWA PENING
Isolation of peat soil humic acid and its application for adsorption-reduction ofAu(III) have been conducted. Humic acid was isolated from peat soil that was collectedfrom Rawa Pening, Central Java. Isolation of humic acid from peat soil was based onconventional alkaline extraction. Humic acid was extracted from peat soil with NaOH0.1 M, then precipitated with 0.1 M HCl, and purified with 0.1 M HCl/0.3 M HF 1/1.The isolated humic acid was characterized by FTIR spectroscopy, then applied foradsorption reduction of Au(III). Isothermic adsorption capacity on adsorptionreduction process of Au (III) also were studied. The gold metal formed was confirmedby XRD diffractogram, and photo optical microscope. The adsorption capacity withLangmuir isothermic model for humic acid was 192 mg/g. Peaks of gold particles in thedifractogram are 2 = 38, 44, and 64
UJI SITOTOKSITAS DAN ANTIPROLIFERATIF SEL KANKER PAYUDARA T47D DAN SEL VERO BIJI Nigella sativa, L.
Black cumin seeds contain oil classes atisiri, terpenes, and alkaloids that can beused for traditional medicine as anticancer. The purpose of this study was to assess thecytotoxic effects of ether extract, ethanol, and infusa seed Nigella sativa, L. (Blackcumin) to inhibit the growth of T47D and normal (Vero) cells and its effect on thekinetics of T47D breast cancer cells proliferation. This study were used extracts ofether, ethanol, and black cumin seeds infusa that obtained by maceration method andinfundasi. Cytotoxicity test was performed by incubating T47D breast cancer cells at a2 x 104 density with concentrations series of 2000; 1000; 500: 250: 125; 62.5; 31.25and 15.625 microg/ml for 24 hours. Vero cell with a density of 2 x 104 withconcentrations series of 4000; 2000; 1000; 500; 250; 125 and 62.5 microg/ml. Thenumber of cells was calculated by direct counting method and the calculated the deathpercentage. The LC50 values calculated using probit analysis. Observations on thenature of the growth inhibition were done by observing kinetics of cell proliferationwith the addition of trypan blue at-24, 48 and 72 to determine its doubling time. Theresults showed that the ether extract, ethanol, and black cumin seeds infusa arecytotoxic to T47D breast cancer cells with successive LC50 of 32.63: 10.02, and 23.82mg mL. Vero cell cytotoxicity test to produce successive LC50 of 300.6; 328.41, and778.64 g/ml. Antiproliferative test results showed that in 62.5 ug/ml and 31.625microg/ml prolong the doubling time. Ethanol extract of cumin seeds have a higherpotential due to the highest security index compared to ether extract and infusa
