    Error Analysis in Speaking Skills of the Eleventh Students of High School in Makassar

    This study aims at indentifying as well as to investigating the linguistic and non-linguistic errors students made in speaking performance . This research used qualitative research with the results analyzed obtained through interviews and documentation. The prospective subjects of this study was the eleventh graders, with a total of 152 students. The subjects of research were selected by purposive sampling technique in 11 MIPA 3 consisting of 36 students. The results showed that the remaining errors in speaking were caused by linguistic errors: 97 errors in 34 students in vocabulary, 50 errors in 21 students in grammar, and 41 errors in 18 students in pronunciation. In contrast, the non-linguistic errors of 4 students were fear of making mistakes when speaking and lack of confidence. In addition, students made mistakes when speaking in the aspect of fluency:  filled pauses: 96 errors from 28 students, silent pauses had 22 errors from 15 students and 24 errors from 14 students in repetition, and at the level of understanding, there were 10 errors from 7 students.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesalahan berbicara apa yang dilakukan oleh siswa dan untuk menganalisis kesalahan siswa dalam keterampilan berbicara. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan hasil analisis yang diperoleh melalui wawancara dan dokumentasi. Jumlah siswa yang menjadi target subjek penelitian berasal dari kelas XI, dengan total 152 siswa. Dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, sebanyak 36 siswa kelas 11 MIPA 3 dipilih sebagai subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan yang tersisa dalam berbicara disebabkan oleh kesalahan linguistik: 97 kesalahan pada 34 siswa dalam kosakata, 50 kesalahan pada 21 siswa dalam tata bahasa, dan 41 kesalahan pada 18 siswa dalam pengucapan. Sebaliknya, kesalahan non-linguistik dari 4 siswa adalah takut membuat kesalahan saat berbicara dan kurang percaya diri.     Problem-Based Learning dalam Pembelajaran Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel

    The purpose of this study was to describe the ability of mathematics problem solving of junior high school students through Problem-Based Learning in SPLDV. The type of research is qualitative descriptive study. Subjects in this study were students of SMP Negeri 2 Toboali VIII.2. This study used problem-solving-consisted scoring guidelines: understand the problem, plan problem-solving strategies, carry out troubleshooting, and recheck the settlement. The results of this study indicate that the students are able to solve mathematical problems for junior high school level through Problem-Based Learning in SPLDV learning in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Toboali. Therefore, Problem-Based Learning strategy can be used as an alternative to conduct of mathematics learning in junior high school.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan Kemampuan pemecahan Masalah Matematika Siswa SMP melalui Problem based Learning dalam Pembelajaran (Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel). Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII.2 SMP Negeri 2 Toboali. Di dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pedoman penskoran pemecahan masalah yang terdiri atas: memahami masalah, merencanakan strategi pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan pemecahan masalah, dan memeriksa kembali penyelesaian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa mampu memecahkan masalah matematika SMP melalui Problem Based Learning dalam pembelajaran SPLDV pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Toboali sehingga Problem Based Learning ini dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan pembelajaran matematika di SMP

    This study aims to examine the role and impact of cultural literacy learning for students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation on 23 students and 2 lecturers as the informants. Validation and reliability of the collected data were conducted by data reduction, display data, and data verification. The results suggested that encouraging cultural literacy offering Tolaki Educational, Language, and Cultural Literacy course have impacted on the knowledge of FKIP students of Lakidende University about Tolaki culture. This not only became knowledge but also became a means to maintain culture through writing student final assignments.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran dan dampak literasi budaya dalam pembelajaran bagi mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode observasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi pada 23 informan dari mahasiswa dan 2 informan dari dosen. Agar data yang diperoleh valid serta dapat dipertanggungjawabkan, maka secara ilmiah dilakukan pemeriksaan keabasahan data dengan melakukan: 1) reduksi data; 2) data display; dan 3) verifikasi data. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa literasi budaya melalui perkuliahan dengan menghadirkan mata kuliah Literasi Pendidikan, Bahasa dan Budaya Tolaki memberikan dampak terhadap pengetahuan mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan daan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Lakidende tentang budaya Tolaki. Hal tersebut tidak saja menjadi pengetahuan tetapi juga menjadi sarana untuk memelihara kebudayaan melalui penulisan tugas akhir mahasiswa

    The objectives of this research are to reveal the causes of aggressive attitudes toward Judith Richardson (JR) in Street Kid by Judy Westwater. This research used qualitative approach that seen from literary psychology point of view, using collecting data method such as documentation with descriptive technique and content analysis. The research data focuses to the causes of aggressive attitudes toward JR. Related to the aims of research, analysis result show that the causes of aggressive attitude toward JR consist of two factors, there are (a) environment and (b) poverty. That is related to the trait of the characters that has intention to do aggression and that intention will be actualized with an action so JR as the target felt the aggression attitude

    Makna Perjuangan pada Lirik Nasyid 90 Langkah Karya Santri Gontor: Analisis Semiotika

    This study examines the meaning of struggle in the lyrics of Gontor’s nasheed 90 Langkah using Roland Barthes semiotics analysis. It focuses on denotation, connotation and myths meanings. The research method used is qualitative method, means data collection techniques with forms of analysis and conclusions. To collect data are used study of document, by searching data from various sources needed, and observational studies, by observing the object to be studied. The results of a semiotic study of the lyrics to the nasheed 90 Langkah are as follows. The denotation meaning of the lyrics of the nasheed 90 Langkah is the students struggle in seeking knowledge in Islamic School. The connotation meaning is the songwriter explained that this Islamic School that has been existing for 90 years can encourage the students to become the next leaders who possess the struggle, sincerity, humble and constancy values in their bocy and hearth. The myths meaning contained in the lyrics of this song is the songwriter wants to say that Islamic school is the place to make an innocent soul, the next leader who useful for the world.Artikel ini mengkaji makna perjuangan santri pada lirik nasyid 90 Langkah karya santri Gontor melalui analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Adapun makna yang diungkapkan adalah makna denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif, yaitu teknik pengumpulan data dengan bentuk analisis dan kesimpulan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu studi dokumen, yaitu dengan cara penelusuran data-data dari berbagai sumber yang diperlukan, dan studi observasi, yaitu teknik dengan mengamati objek yang akan diteliti. Hasil kajian semiotika terhadap lirik nasyid 90 Langkah menemukan: makna denotasi dari lirik nasyid 90 Langkah merefleksikan perjuangan santri dalam mencari ilmu di pondok pesantren; sementara makna konotasi liriknya adalah sesuai dengan penuturan penulis yang menjelaskan bahwa pondok pesantren yang sudah berdiri 90 tahun ini bisa menjadikan santrinya khalifah muda yang terdapat sifat perjuangan, keikhlasan, kesederhanaan dan juga keteguhan dalam dirinya. Sedangkan makna mitos yang terdapat pada lirik nasyid ini yaitu penulis lagu yang ingin mengatakan bahwa pesantren itu tempatnya menciptakan jiwa yang suci, khalifah muda yang akan berguna bagi dunia

    The culture of pamali exists in a community as a believe system of its members. This study aims at exploring the meaning of pamali expression for pregnant women firmly held by the Sundanese community in Ahua Watu village, Pondidaha sub-district. This qualitative research derived the data from three pregnant women as the informants using observation, interview, recording, transcription and note-taking techniquesS. The research found that the pamali expressions prohibiting the pregnant women from were: 1) eating using the lids of embe and plate, 2) hitting a person or animal by using a broom stick, 3) prohibition from firing wood in reverse direction, 4) stepping the chicken manure, as well as other livestock manure such as cow dung, buffalo, goats, and so on, 5) consuming sugarcane, 6) slaughtering and killing animals, 7) going out after sunset, 8) squeezing the laundry by trampling with feet, 9) hanging a towel or sarong on neck, 10) sewing anything, 11) using a necklace, 12) consuming any kind of jackfruit, 13) consuming shrimp and crab, 14) consuming bean sprouts, 15) consuming gourami fish, 16) putting stones into pockets and other places, 17) consuming wasps, 18) eating using a large plate, 19) being stingy for sharing something to others, 20) sitting in front of the door, 21) storing dirty water anywhere, 22) consuming pineapple, 23) scratching two parts of the body (stomach and buttock), and 24) burning all equipments for the baby to be born.     Meta-Analisis Media Pembelajaran Audiovisual dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Menulis di Sekolah

    The purpose of this study was to re-analyze the use of audiovisual learning media on writing skills. The method used in this research is meta-analysis. The research begins by formulating research problems, tracing relevant research results for analysis. Data were collected by searching electronic journals through Google Scholar with keywords in learning media, audiovisual, and writing skills. From the search results, 10 relevant articles that have been published in online journals were obtained. Descriptive qualitative method was used to analyzed the data. The analysis result suggested that audiovisual learning media can improve students’ writing skills. The audiovisual media can predict the writing performance ranging from the lowest 12.66% to the highest 80.5% with an average of 36.41%Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis kembali penggunaan media pembelajaran audiovisual terhadap keterampilan menulis.  Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah meta analisis. Penelitian diawali dengan merumuskan masalah penelitian, menelusuri hasil penelitian yang relevan untuk dianalisis. Data dikumpulkan dengan menelusuri jurnal elektronik melalui Google Scholar dengan kata kunci media pembelajaran, audiovisual, dan keterampilan menulis. Dari hasil penelusuran diperoleh 10 artikel yang relevan yang sudah diterbitkan di jurnal online. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis bisa disimpulkan media pembelajaran audiovisual dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa dari mulai yang terendah 12,66 % sampai yang tertinggi 80,5 % dengan rata-rata 36,41 %

    This study aims at identifying the types and functions of metaphores used in selected Wordsworth poems. It was a qualitative research and library method was used in collecting the data. The data of the study are the series of England poems of I, II, III, and IV. The data were analyzed descriptively based on the methatphore chategories. The findings suggested that there are three types of metaphore used in the four poems. They were: 1) antromorphic image, 2) animal image, 3) concrete image, and sinestesia image.     Hubungan antara Skemata dan Penguasaan Kosakata dengan Kemampuan Membaca Pemahaman

    The study aimed to investigate and analyze empirically; (1) the correlation between schemata and students’ achievement on reading; (2) the correlation between vocabulary mastery and students’ achievement on reading; and (3) the correlation between schemata and vocabulary mastery on together with students’ achievement on reading comprehension at English department faculty of teacher training and education of Lakidende University. It used survey method with the correlational approach. The populations were 165 persons and the totals of samples were 70 persons. Objective tests on multiple choices (dichotomously scored item) for all variables were used to collect the data. The results were as follows; (1) there was a significant correlation between schemata and students’ achievement on reading with the regression coefficient (rxy1) was 0.830 and determination coefficient (R Square) was 0.689; (2) there was a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and students’ achievement on reading with the regression coefficient (rxy1) was 0.954 and determination coefficient (R Square) was 0.910; and (3) there was a significant correlation between schemata and vocabulary mastery in together with students’ achievement on reading comprehension with the regression coefficient (rxy1.2) was 0.960 and determination coefficient (R Square) was 0.921. In conclusion, there weas a significant correlation between schemata and vocabulary mastery in together with students’ achievement on reading comprehension at English department faculty of teacher training and education of Lakidende University
