    Koherensi Paragraf dalam Skripsi Mahasiswa Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia

    This study was proposed to identify and analyze the markers and the coherence of the paragraphs of the students’ theses of Indonesian Language and Literary Education Program. It was a qualitative study using a discourse analysis method. The data were texts in paragraphs selected from 30 students’ theses especially the Introduction Chapter. The study found that there were 272 coherent paragraphs and 34 incoherent paragraphs. findings were theses, results shown that there were five coherence markers found in the samples. Those were repetition, substitution, pronoun, conjunction, and causal relation. There were also found that the coherent paragraphs consisted of explicit coherence (213 data) and implicit coherence (59 data). The explicit coherences were developed with those 5 coherence markers and the repetition was the most dominant markers in use. By comparing the number of the coherent paragraphs with the incoherent paragraphs, it can be drawn that the coherence of the students’ writing in introduction chapter was categorized into very good level

    The Influence of Using Information Transfer Technique towards Students’ Reading Comprehension

    In a process of teaching learning activity, teachers strive to create activities in class to make the students understand with the material that teachers give, when a book as a main source of knowledge in learning process, reading is an important process in teaching learning activity, many teachers try to apply technique to make students comprehend of what they read, and to make students interested in reading activity. In this paper the author introduces the technique known as information transfer. By first collecting different definitions of the term and then by explaining its application to English language teaching that can be used in teaching reading activity. Therefore, the present study was carried out to investigate the relationship between the use of information transfer and students’ reading comprehension, i.e. to determine whether or not making use of information transfer has any influence on the students’ reading comprehension. The methodology was true-experimental design with the treatment. The population of this research was the second semester of the tenth grade students of MAN I Metro, Lampung. The sample taken was two classes randomly, 1K2 (X-2) and 1K3 (X-3) which consisted of 64 students. In collecting the data, the writer used the instruments in multiple-choice questions of descriptive text. After being tried-out, the instrument was used for the pre-test and the post-test

    Deconstruction is a method of reading the text very carefully to find inconsistencies and paradoxes in the concepts of the text as a whole by turning the existing oppositions. The elements are deconstructed is the element that determines the text. Deconstruction on the main prominent role in novel Rabet: Runtuhnya Jerman Timur by Martin Jankowski generate some binary opposition, i.e., capitalist-socialist, West German-East German, rich-poor, rebel-fighters, and cage-palace. Results deconstruction of the Socialist paradox shows that the main character misinterprets binary opposition between the capitalist and socialist because actually, socialists higher rank than capitalist. Results deconstruction of the paradox of East Germany, the main character misinterprets binary opposition between East Germany and West Germany because of East Germany get a higher place than West Germany. Results deconstruction of the paradox of poor, indicating that the main character misinterprets binary opposition between rich and poor because in fact, the people of East Germany was not poor. Results deconstruction of the paradox fighters showed that the main character as a representation of a warrior, it turns out, when viewed from the side of the East German government, as rebels because the East German government actually was a good purpose for its citizens, which is making its citizens prosper. Results deconstruction of the paradox enclosure indicates that the main character is not actually born in a stable because of the fact that the East German government to the welfare or well-being to its citizens
