    Get PDF
Distribution systems play a significant role in logistics operations. For the companies with consumer goods products this even more important as consumer goods production has fairly cheap price compared to the distribution cost that must be spent by the company. In addition, increased fuel costs have urged the company to be more efficient in planning and schedule the transportation routes. This paper presents the application of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to minimize the travel distance and total cost of a Heterogeneous Fleet Vehicle Routing Problem (HFVRP). Experimental results from its application to a real-world case study are presented. The model in this research is the HFVRP where vehicles have different capacities, variable costs, and fixed costs. PSO algorithm was applied because of the high number of customers served, and therefore the exact methods may not be sufficient. PSO parameter setting which produced the optimum result was with the number of swarms 50, C1 1,5, and C2 2 determined through the design of the experiment. The results of computation show that using PSO can minimize the total traveled distance with an average savings of 51.55% and minimize total cost with an average savings of 44.92% from the existing vehicle routes operated by the company

The objective of this research was to provide a mathematical model that can explain the relationship between the unemployment rate, openness to technology, and people development initiatives to overcome technology development. These research discussions were carried out in the context of predicted technological developments related to Industry 4.0 which caused the loss of several jobs and formed new business models that will provide new jobs. The method used is to using system approach so that mathematical modeling can be obtained from Influence Diagrams which have been designed in previous research. Mathematical models illustrate that openness to technology is directly proportional to the number of unemployed. And the unemployment rate is inversely proportional to the level of human resource development. Development of human resources that are too large without being carried out with openness and technological progress, can also cause unemployment. This mathematical model can be used as a decision maker to understand and establish appropriate policies in the face of this Industry 4.0 change

Model Pengoptimuman Portofolio Mean-Variance dan Perkembangan Praktisnya

    Get PDF
Many research about portfolio optimization in Indonesia still uses the ‘original’ mean-variance model as proposed by Markowitz more than 60 years ago. This article reviews the development and modification of the Markowitz’s mean-variance model, especially that dealing with real stock-market features, which could help the investor to create their own portfolio. There were several real-stock market features that implemented in the modification of mean-variance portfolios optimization models, such as the minimum transaction lots, the transaction cost, the cardinality constraint, the weight constraint, and the sectoral constraint. To implement these features, several heuristic methods were used to obtain the optimal portfolio weight, such as genetic algorithm, Tabu search, bee colony algorithm, particle swarm algorithm, and simulated annealing. These methods become alternative to the mathematical programming method

The problem that occurs in the packaging bottle production process is the amount of waste in it. Therefore, this study aims to make improvements in reducing waste of production time and provide recommendations for managing the production process so that in the future can be used as a reference in the production process optimization. The method used in this study is descriptive analysis conducted by examining the work and activities of an object. The results of the study show that in the production process, there was still a form of waste which, when viewed from the seven waste concept in the lean manufacturing system, there are some of the most dominant wastes such as inventory, waiting, process, overproduction, and defect. After improvement of the current mapping, the waste that occurs such as inventory, process, overproduction, waiting, and defects that occur in the production line reduced from the total lead time of 2.1 days with seven operators to 0.9 days with ten operators. Furthermore, the cycle time value of the current value stream mapping was 120.9 seconds, while the cycle time value of the proposed value stream mapping was 72 seconds. This shows an increase in productivity

Construction project implementation process is often found inefficiency and problems at every stage of the construction process. Inefficiencies are caused because construction projects have high levels of fragmentation. The high level of fragmentation cannot be separated from the complexity and many work items on construction projects. To reduce the problem of inefficiencies in the implementation of construction projects required good supply chain management or better known as supply chain management (SCM) on construction projects. Therefore it is necessary to study the management of SCM in the construction project to reduce the inefficiency that occurred. SCM management of construction projects is done by designing SCM performance measurement systems in construction projects. This performance measurement system produces indicators that are combined with the Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) method. So it helps in performing SCM performance measurement on construction projects. From the design results, obtained 14 SCM performance indicators on construction projects. The performance indicators are then used to perform SCM performance measurement of cement plant construction projects. From the measurement results obtained SCM performance value of 41 from a scale of 100. This shows the performance of SCM on construction projects for the construction of the cement plant is at a marginal level

In the manufacturing industry, the role of quality control or laboratory parts is very important to ensure the quality of raw materials or finished products by testing. Smooth testing carried out by the QC/Lab section will have an impact on the smooth production process. PT. Bando Indonesia is one of the automotive manufacturing industries that is consistent with quality. However, based on April-June 2018 data based on SQCDMP data, it was found that productivity factors were quite low as indicated by the presence of remaining hardness and specific gravity compound test results reaching 36.44% at the end of each shift. By carrying out corrective actions through the 8 step Quality Control Circle (QCC) and using seven tools as an analytical tool, the results obtained are significant, namely the reduction in the remaining samples of compound testing by only 21.97% and impact on cost, morality, and productivity

    Get PDF
Facial expression was proven to show a person's emotions, including 6 basic human emotions, namely happy, sad, surprise, disgusted, angry, and fear. Currently, the recognition of basic emotions is applied using the automatic facial expression analysis software. In fact, not all emotions are performed with the same expressions. This study aims to analyze whether the six basic human emotions can be recognized by software. Ten subjects were asked to spontaneously show the expressions of the six basic emotions sequentially. Subjects are not given instructions on how the standard expressions of each of the basic emotions are. The results show that only happy expressions can be consistently identified clearly by the software, while sad expressions are almost unrecognizable. On the other hand surprise expressions tend to be recognized as mixed emotions of surprise and happy. There are two emotions that are difficult to express by the subject, namely fear and anger. The subject interpretation of these two emotions varies widely and tends to be unrecognizable by software. The conclusion of this study is the way a person shows his emotions varies. Although there are some similarities in expression, it cannot be proven that all expressions of basic human emotions can be generalized. Further implication of this research needs further discussion
