    Get PDF
This research aims at revealing the effect of educational facilities and infrastructure in primary schools on students’ learning outcomes. This was based on the Education Data Centre (Dapodik – Data Pokok Pendidikan) of 2017/2018 Academic Year stating that high rates of damage to educational facilities and infrastructures, particularly classrooms, and less optimal students’ learning outcomes indicated higher numbers of students who had repeated a grade (failing a grade). This research employed a quantitative method using the logistic regression as the data analysis technique. Dependent variable in this research was learning outcomes, while independent variables were classrooms, teacher toilets, student toilets, libraries, school based-management (SBM), and double shift. The research population were 599 primary schools in Sumedang District based on Dapodik 2017. The results indicated that there was an effect of educational facilities and infrastructure on students’ learning outcomes, namely classrooms, MBS and double shift, while there was no effect of educational facilities and infrastructure on students’ learning outcomes, namely libraries, teacher toilets, and student toilets

The study is descriptive in nature and sampled 200 Nigerian teachers in elementary schools. An instrument titled Factors Responsible for Lateness to School Questionnaire (FRLSQ was adopted to gather data. The descriptive and inferential statistics were used as methods of data analysis. It was revealed that the factors responsible for students lateness to school as expressed by Nigerian teachers in elementary schools are poor preparation for school, going late to bed, distance of school from home, high level of poverty, peer pressure, single parenting among others. It is concluded that the factors responsible for lateness to school are enormous. Practical solutions were therefore recommended

    Get PDF
Multiple interpretations can cause a decrease in the quality of rubrics. This research aims at developing an appropriate rubrics description for the measurement of students' scientific attitudes. The process of developing the rubrics was done by using the video snippets of learning process. A total of 23 observers whose final year students were involved in analyzing the video snippets of learning process. They assessed eight indicators of the scientific attitude of ten students through the video snippets. The feasibility of the rubric is considered based on the responses given by 85% of the observers who have the similar answer to the scientific attitude of students in the video snippets of learning process. The description test of the rubrics was analyzed descriptively, which then obtained two rubrics that obtained answer differences less than 85% of the observers. Therefore, this research focuses on investigating the two rubrics. This research implies that there needs to be a clear description of the rubrics in relations to the time of observation of the number of students and behaviors

The background of this research is based on diversity of Indonesia in terms of social, cultural, religious, language and ethnic groups. The specific problem in this research lies on the diversity of students in one public elementary school in Cimahi City, situated in the area of the Indonesian Army. Therefore, this research seeks to investigate the difference in improvement of students cross cultural skills between learning using VBA (Visual Basic of Application)-based Monopoly game teaching materials in Microsoft Excel and conventional learning. This research aims at improving students cross cultural skills, and observing the differences or disconnection of the improvement of students cultural skills between learning using VBA-based teaching materials and conventional learning. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. A quantitative observation instrument in the form of a checklist was used as the research instrument. The results revealed that both learning using a teaching material of VBA-based Monopoly in Microsoft Excel and conventional learning were able to improve the students cross cultural skills. However, based on the result of N-Gain test, learning using teaching material of VBA-based Monopoly game in Microsoft Excel was better than conventional learning

    Get PDF
Within the physical education literature, there remains to be contentions between the effectiveness of sporting- and movement-based approaches. Whilst both have noted strengths and weaknesses, there is little research into whether either is leading to quality physical education in Australian elementary schools. This paper therefore examines two of the common models based approaches to teaching physical education in elementary schools against the five interrelated propositions of the Australian Curriculum to determine if either pedagogical approach is leading to quality physical education. This paper draws on current literature, curriculum frameworks and pedagogical recommendations to determine the value of a models based approaches to physical education in relation to quality. Examinations indicate that both the sports and movement based approaches can address the five key propositions that underpin the Australian Curriculum, however quality is dependent on appropriate implementation by qualified and skilled teachers. Teacher education and pedagogical knowledge is paramount for the implementation of quality physical education. Further investigation and exploratory research is required to determine if the model based approaches are being effectively being introduced by both generalist and specialist health and physical education teachers in elementary school settings

    Get PDF
This study was aimed to create a disciplinary control book for elementary school students to control student discipline. This research is a developmental research based on the developmental model of Borg and Gall. Product feasibility was obtained through validation activities from material and media experts. The validation results of media experts showed an average score of 3.75, and material experts showed an average score of 3.15. This score was classified in good category, so that the disciplinary control book products were worth testing for elementary school students. Product feasibility trials were carried out through initial trial and limited field trials. While the assessment of product effectiveness was carried out through extensive field test activities. The results of the initial field trial, small group trial, and field test showed that students' discipline increased after being controlled by using disciplinary control books with a good average score category. Thus, it can be concluded that the disciplinary control book of elementary school students is feasible and effective in controlling elementary school students’ discipline

This study aimed to ascertain the development of elementary school children in the digital age from their health perspective. This integrative review is aimed at creating a health program for elementary school children in order to guide health workers in creating meaningful, focused, and structured activities that will address their health needs in the digital age. The integrative review as a methodology provides a synthesis of knowledge and the applicability of results of significant studies into practice. Its objective is to present the phases of children’s health in an integrative review so that relevant aspects of the literatures will be taken into account when using this methodological resource. As the influence of digital technology-- and especially the internet—has increased, the debate about its effect on elementary school children’s development has grown louder. We wonder, is the internet a threat to their over-all health and well-being? Digital dependency has shown to have a possible impact on brain development and cognition of elementary school children. In conclusion, the digital technology has already changed the world—and as more and more children go online around the world, it is increasingly changing childhood (UNICEF, 2017)

Media plays an important role in the learning process. Many research results reveal the media give effect to the improvement of student learning outcomes. Initial findings of the research in Grade V SDN Sindangjati, Paseh-Sumedang showed that students have low historical thinking skills because the subject of history study in IPS subjects contains abstract facts, which are difficult to understand what made the students difficult to remember when and what happens in historical events as part of historical thinking skill. Efforts were made to overcome these problems by using the media timelines chart. The result of research using Classroom Action Research Method shows that the media timelines chart can increase the historical thinking skill.  The improvement can be seen from the increasing percentage of historical thinking skill in cycle I which was 62.50% then, becoming 87.50% in cycle II. It means that the media timelines chart in learning IPS material of Proclamation historical events can increase historical thinking skills. This means that the historical thinking test of social studies learning historical material of the Proclamation event has fulfilled the targeted objective of 84.38%
