    No full text
This article describes some crucial elements of the critical procedure of Edmond Cros’s socio-criticism, as well as his practice of analyzing the textual object in relation to the most notable notions that he conceived, such as the cultural subject, morphogenesis and the production of meaning. From this somewhat panoramic approach, wich also distinguishes certain evolutions in the epistemological dimension of Crosian theory, an attempt is made to establish a dialogue between the latter and a philological hermeneutics that aim to accentuate the interpretative projection of said socio-criticism in close relationship with the key problems inherent to the construction of meaning in the literary text.

Linguistic landscape as a didactic tool in Andalusian languages class

    No full text
The present study seeks to show how the lingüistic landscape can be a very useful didactic tool for the teaching of tha andalusian languages in a universitary level. With this purpose, it begins with the theoretical contextualization of the own concept of linguistic landscape and it carries out a revision of the main contributions which has been done through the last years to the study of its application to the education field. Afterwards, it focuses the attention in three blocks of content: the preconceptions of the own speakers about what is i tana example of the andalusian languages and what not, vocabulary issues and andalusian words and the sociolinguistic consideration of the andalusian languages and its prestige. The article explains at lenght how to use the linguistic landscape to work each one of these topics in classroom, mainly through activities wich are proposed to the students. The conclusión is that its own nature (dinamic, volatile, available…) turns the linguistic landscape samples into an ideal tool for working issues related to the diatopical varieties, such as the andalusian languages

Generation and ex vivo characterization of a full-thickness substitute of the human urethra by tissue engineering

Tissue engineering may offer efficient alternatives for the surgical repair of severe conditions affecting the human urethra. However, development of tubular fullthickness substitutes is challenging. In this work, we have generated and evaluated ex vivo a novel full-thickness human urethra substitute (FHUS) containing its three main layers: the urethral mucosa (UM), the spongy layer (SP), and the tunica albuginea (AL). Results first showed that the generation of a FHUS significantly improved the biomechanical properties of this artificial tissue as compared to the individual layers, although the resistance of the native urethra was not reached. At the structural level, we found that FHUS shared important histological similarities with the native urethra. Analysis of the individual layers showed that UM had a stratified epithelium that expressed several epithelial markers, including cytokeratins CK7 and CK14, uroplakin 1b, and the intercellular junction proteins desmoplakin, tight junction protein 1, and claudin. At the stromal level, UM tended to increase the presence of collagen fibers and versican with time. The SP layer displayed abundant CD31 and CD34-positive blood vessels, but small amounts of collagen and proteoglycans. The AL layer showed scattered smooth muscle cells expressing α-smooth muscle actin, smoothelin, and desmin cell markers, and contained low amounts of collagen and proteoglycans. Analysis of the basement membrane components collagen IV and laminin revealed their progressive development with time, especially collagen IV. These results confirm the possibility of developing a partially biomimetic full-thickness substitute of human urethra that might have potential clinical usefulness for the clinical repair of severe urethral lesions.Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation - Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Grant/Award Number: FIS PI22/00059)European Regional Development Fund (FEDER/ERDF

A Comparative Study of the Adsorption of Industrial Anionic Dyes with Bone Char and Activated Carbon Cloth

    No full text
This study presents a comparative analysis of the adsorption behavior of three industrial ionic dyes—Indigo Carmine (IC), Congo Red (CR), and Evans Blue (EB)—using two adsorbent materials with distinct physicochemical and textural properties: bone char (BC) and activated carbon cloth (ACC). The main objective was to evaluate and compare the adsorption equilibrium and kinetics of these dyes on both materials. Equilibrium behavior was analyzed using the Prausnitz–Radke isotherm model, while adsorption kinetics were evaluated using PVSDM. The results showed that adsorption onto BC was primarily driven by electrostatic interactions, enhanced by the presence of hydroxyapatite. The maximum adsorbed amounts were determined to be 0.296, 0.107, and 0.0614 mmol g−1 for CR, IC, and EB, respectively. In contrast, adsorption on ACC was influenced by both electrostatic and hydrophobic forces due to its carbonaceous composition. IC exhibited significantly higher adsorption on ACC (1.087 mmol g−1 ), whereas CR and EB only 0.269 mmol g−1 and 0.028 mmol g−1 , respectively. Kinetic studies revealed that intraparticle transport was the rate-limiting step across all systems. Specifically, pore volume diffusion controlled the adsorption rate on ACC, with mean diffusion coefficients of 9.72 × 10−8 , 1.83 × 10−9 , and 1.48 × 10−10 cm2 s −1 for IC, CR and EB, respectively. Conversely, for BC, adsorption surface diffusion played a dominant role in the adsorption of IC and CR, with mean diffusion coefficients of 1.62 × 10−9 and 7.28 × 10−10 for IC and CR, respectively. These findings underscore the importance of considering both equilibrium and kinetic parameters in the design of efficient wastewater treatment systems.MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (PID2022-142169OBI00 project)Secretariat of University, Research and Innovation of the Andalusian Government (EMERGIA20 EMC21_00396)Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation, SECIHTI, Mexico (scholarship 1034192

Port(s). A circular economy framework for sustainable ports in Spain

    No full text
The objective of this study is to develop a circular economy framework for ports by integrating existing sustainability and circularity strategies while minimizing administrative complexity. Both the European Union and Spain have issued circular economy guidelines, highlighting Level(s), a framework designed for buildings. Spanish ports have been using a sustainability diagnostic system for over a decade, providing a robust foundation of relevant indicators. However, implementing a new framework must address a key barrier: the limited resources available to public administrations, which can hinder the adoption of additional strategies. To ensure feasibility, this study proposes a structured circular economy framework aligned with existing sustainability assessment tools. The framework follows the structure of Level(s), organized around macro-objectives derived through Fuzzy Cognitive Mapping and validated using the Delphi method. Each macro-objective is supported by quantifiable indicators to monitor circular economy implementation. These indicators focus on adapting existing sustainability indicators to the circular economy context, complemented by new ones where necessary. This research advances circular economy integration in ports by leveraging established systems and ensuring regulatory compatibility. The resulting model promotes sustainability and resilience while avoiding additional bureaucratic complexity, offering a practical and adaptable tool for decision-makers and port authorities

Educational innovation has become a strategic challenge for universities that have to respond to a changing and competitive society. The Physical Education department showed the highest tendency towards innovation, mainly due to its accredited teaching staff (p<.05) and the possible link they have with the teaching and learning processes. There is a notable heterogeneity among the 9 dimensions of teaching innovation analyzed in the questionnaire, which is demonstrated by the many significant variations (p<.05) between them. In general, a high predisposition towards teaching innovation was observed among teachers, where it seems that women and accredited teachers are more likely to be more likely to be more innovative than men

Multi-analytical assessment of ethyl silicate-treated bricks: from salt deterioration to long-term protection

    No full text
This study investigates the effectiveness of ethyl silicate in enhancing the durability of extruded bricks subjected to weathering used by sodium sulphate. Four groups of samples were analyzed and compared: unaltered bricks (F1), salt-weathered bricks (F2), consolidated salt-weathered bricks (F3), and re-weathered consolidated bricks (F4). Chemical and mineralogical changes were evaluated using X-ray fluorescence, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, μRaman spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction. Hydric tests and ultrasound measurements assessed changes in the pore structure and mechanical properties. Colour measurements quantified aesthetic alterations. Mechanical tests evaluated strength, hardness and fatigue resistance. A computational model was also developed to predict long-term behaviour. Results indicate that ethyl silicate treatment significantly enhances weathered brick durability, with consolidated saltweathered samples showing improved mechanical properties and reduced salt damage. However, the re-weathering process revealed some limitations in providing long-term protection. This research offers novelty insights into ethyl silicate consolidation for preserving bricks under conditions of salt weathering

Effects of an intergenerational service-learning program on prosocial behaviors and perception of physical education in primary education students

    No full text
Introduction: The Service-Learning (SL) promotes the acquisition of curricular competencies through enriching experiences that respond to real social needs, within a framework of critical reflection and ethical commitment. Through an intergenerational SL program, this article addresses the global phenomenon of population aging. Preventing ageism as a potential discriminatory behavior should be the foundation for building positive prosocial behaviors from childhood. In addition, Physical Education (PE) can be an effective tool to promote social inclusion. Methods: A total of 106 students, divided into two methodology groups (Traditional vs. Service-Learning; age = 10.49 ± 0.50), participated in a 10- week intervention with older adults in a day center, using physical activities as the main tool. The study incorporated standardized questionnaires assessing prosocial behaviors (PB) and students’ self-perception of PE lessons. Findings: The results show significant improvements in most PB dimensions (Empathy, Respect, Sociability, and Leadership; all, p < 0.05) and in selfperception of the PE subject in the SL group (p < 0.05), in contrast to the TM group, which showed no improvements. Discussion: In general, an experiential methodology with an inclusive focus such as SL fosters civic and respectful behaviors in adolescents, especially when they engage with socially disadvantaged groups. Furthermore, the role of PE is crucial, as it enables direct and progressive interaction with the target population, in this case, older adults
