Exploratory Examination of Intimacy Between Dogs in a Multi-Dog Household from the Owner's Perspective
Get PDFjournal article複数頭飼育下では,同居犬同士が良好な関係であることが望まれるが、その関係を測定する手法は確立されていない。本研究では,飼い主から見た同居犬間の親密さを質問紙により測定するための行動項目を,探索的に検討した。調査1では,イヌを複数頭飼育している飼い主82名を対象とし,飼い主が親密だと感じる行動項目の候補となる22項目を抽出した。調査2では,イヌを複数頭飼育している飼い主107名を対象とし,調査1の結果を基に作成した項目が飼い主から見た同居犬間の親密さの程度を測定するための指標となるかについて確認した。探索的因子分析の結果,8項目1因子構造が確認された。加えて,飼い主が感じている同居犬間の親密さの程度に対する回答と,8項目の評定値の合計である親密度得点の間で中程度の相関がみられた。これらの結果から,同居犬同士の身体的接触や遊びに関わる8項目が飼い主から見た同居犬間の親密さの指標となりうる可能性が示され,同居犬間の良好な関係性構築に向けた働きかけに活用できると考えられた。This study aims to identify behavioral indicators of closeness between cohabiting dogs in households with multiple dogs. An exploratory study was conducted using surveys to examine owners' perceptions of intimacy between their dogs. Survey 1 covers 82 owners with multiple dogs. From this sample, 22 behavioral items reflecting perceived intimacy were selected as potential indicators. Survey 2 targeted 107 owners with multiple dogs in order to validate these selected items as indicators of the degree of closeness between cohabiting dogs from the owners' perspective. The results of exploratory factor analysis confirmed a one-factor structure comprising eight items, thus indicating satisfactory internal consistency. Additionally, a moderate correlation was found between the owners' perception of closeness and a composite score derived from the eight items. These findings suggest that the identified eight behavioral items can serve as reliable indicators of the degree of intimacy between cohabiting dogs. Therefore, these results indicate that the eight items related to physical contact and play between cohabiting dogs may serve as indicators of the degree of intimacy between cohabiting dogs as seen by their owners. This may also be used to encourage the construction of good relationships between cohabiting dogs.journal articl
