    Get PDF
In this communication, we review some research that we consider related to the construct of school principal’s authoritarianism, we propose some ways of investigation and questions for reflection. Research has investigated in four areas: (1) the authoritarian behaviors and practices of managers or other workers in the workplace, which are often labelled as abuse, (2) the personal and organisational harmful effects that authoritarianism appears to generate, (3) the inadequate response of organisations and (4) the form or structure of decision-making in the school. Through this research work, we propose to consider the therapeutic perspective and rethink leadership, subjects and organizational structure and their relationship to power and authoritarianism. We believe that it is important to analyse the power available to school managers, but we believe that studying its use in terms of its personal nature may open up new areas of research and therefore of knowledge in the future

Komunikazio Politika Nazionalen kontzeptua 1960ko hamarkadan sortu zen Latinoamerikan, komunikazio-sistema nazionalak aztertu, planifikatu eta globalki arautzeko marko teoriko modura sortu ere. Hogei urte geroago, 1980ko hamarkadan, komunikazio-politika publikoek nazio berreraikuntzara begira zeukaten garrantziaz hausnartzeari ekin zion Kataluniako akademikotalde batek, eta kontzeptu horrek estaturik gabeko nazioengan izan zezakeen eraginari buruzko hausnarketa piztu zen harrezkero: ez alferrik, katalanen ekarpen nagusia izan zen Komunikazio Politika Nazionalak harremanetan jartzea kultur aniztasunaren babesarekin eta abertzaletasunari buruzko gogoetekin (Fernandez & Guimera, 2012). Ordukoa da, halaber, espai català de comunicació kontzeptua ere, eremu honetan Katalunian sortutako erreferentzia teoriko nagusia (Gifreu & Corominas, 1991). Fernandez eta Guimeraren arabera (2012), 2007az geroztik (aurreko hamarkadarekin alderatuta testuinguru errotik desberdinean) gai honi eta espai català de comunicació kontzeptuari buruzko gogoeta berriak plazaratu dira. Hori horrela, artikulu honetan Kataluniako komunikazio-sistemako erakunde jakin batean pausatuko dugu soa: Consell de l’Audiovisual de Catalunya (CAC) erakundean, hain justu. Gure helburua da aztertzea ea erakunde horren jardunak eraginik izan ote duen Kataluniako komunikazio-espazioaren trinkotzeari begira, iruditzen baitzaigu hango esperientziak gogoetaeragile izan daitezkeela Euskal Herriko komunikazio-espazioaren eraketari dagokionean ere

Towards Large-Scale, Heterogeneous Anomaly Detection Systems in Industrial Networks: A Survey of Current Trends

    Get PDF
Industrial Networks (INs) are widespread environments where heterogeneous devices collaborate to control and monitor physical processes. Some of the controlled processes belong to Critical Infrastructures (CIs), and, as such, IN protection is an active research field. Among different types of security solutions, IN Anomaly Detection Systems (ADSs) have received wide attention from the scientific community. While INs have grown in size and in complexity, requiring the development of novel, Big Data solutions for data processing, IN ADSs have not evolved at the same pace. In parallel, the development of BigData frameworks such asHadoop or Spark has led the way for applying Big Data Analytics to the field of cyber-security,mainly focusing on the Information Technology (IT) domain. However, due to the particularities of INs, it is not feasible to directly apply IT security mechanisms in INs, as IN ADSs face unique characteristics. In this work we introduce three main contributions. First, we survey the area of Big Data ADSs that could be applicable to INs and compare the surveyed works. Second, we develop a novel taxonomy to classify existing INbased ADSs. And, finally, we present a discussion of open problems in the field of Big Data ADSs for INs that can lead to further development

    Get PDF
Insurance companies are in the midst of massive disruptive change occurring as a result of new consumption models and technologies. Companies unable to keep up with the rapid pace of change run the risk of disappearing. Service Design has become an essential practice for firms competing in experience-centred sectors. However, Service Design is not only limited to improving customer experience: it has also been proposed as an enabler for strategic and organisational change. This paper presents a case study in which Service Design was applied to foster transformative strategy and processes in an insurance company. The experiment has shown that Service Design can help companies to identify new business opportunities, as well as assisting organisational transformations. The findings in this paper show that by adopting Design-led approaches, firms can achieve faster and more flexible New Service Development processes able to significantly reduce time to market

Experimental test bench for testing DC microgrid control strategies

    Get PDF
During the last decades the number of microgrids and their research have increased notably, as they offer a high versatility for the integration of distributed generation (DG) units and renewable energies. Among the different types of microgrids, dc systems are becoming more popular due to their advantages over conventional ac systems. However, their control techniques differ from the ones employed at ac networks, and depending on the device type-either generation, storage systems or loads-alternative control techniques need to be developed. Therefore, in this paper an experimental dc platform is developed with the aim of testing and evaluating these kind of control strategies. This test bench consists of a bidirectional four switch buck-boost converter together with a TMS320F28335 DSP for the implementation of the control strategy on each power converter. The proposed platform is suitable for integrating these systems at a 48 V dc bus and facilitates the evaluation of a wide range of control strategies as they are implemented in the Matlab/Simulink ® environment. In this case, the validation of the experimental platform has been carried out by implementing a virtual-impedance-based control technique. The experimental results included in the paper corroborate the suitability of the platform for the evaluation of control techniques for dc microgrids

Autoconfrontación a la propia actividad de enseñanza. Formación e investigación de la formación

    Get PDF
The starting point of this work is an epistemological, actional and praxiological position that adopts human activity (language teaching and training, in this case) as the object of study. Teachers' initial training is dealt with as a developing process related to training devices conceived and analysed with the aim of enabling the development of trainees' action. The assembled theoretical elements result from different models of action and human activity, especially from the theory of social action (Schütz, 1950).Research and training methods that have been used aim at generatingtraces of activity as long as providing appropriate opportunities for agents to analyse them. Recordings -‐especially video-‐recordings-‐are used for self-‐confrontation interviews that supply adequate instances to produce meanings related to observed activities. The first results show some of the typical activities in language learning that students have carried out during their Practicum period and the generated training phenomena. Those results are, subsequently, used to set up training-‐environments based on the analysis of teaching-‐activity

Power-Electronic-Based DC Distribution Systems for Electrically Propelled Vessels: A multivariable Modeling Approach for Design and Analysis

    Get PDF
The benefits of using power-electronic-based dc distribution systems in electrically propelled vessels are well known. However, some aspects must be deeply analyzed to guarantee a safe, robust, and stable system by design. This paper presents a multivariable dc distribution system mathematical model, where all the transmission lines and filters impedances are considered. The model has been tackled under a holistic approach in which the average small-signal model of the drives/converters can be easily added and “connected” to the main grid model. The stability and power quality analysis, as well as the design and tuning of controls and active damping strategies, can be conducted through this mathematical model at low computational cost. In this paper, the usefulness of this model in the early design stages is presented through its application over a realistic design scenario. Moreover, the performance of the proposed model is proven into a real test bench, which presents a configuration and architecture quite close to the one used in a real vessel. The carried out tests prove the suitability of the proposed model, becoming a significant tool to get an improved design

Sustainability analysis on Urban Mobility based on Social Media content

    Get PDF
Urban transport became an important element in the promotion of strategies towards sustainability, in fact one of the challenges posed by booming urban populations is the question of mobility. Traditional travel survey methods used to study urban mobility are very expensive, and the data collected are of poor quality. This is mainly explained because of the difficulty of getting a representative sample of the population, and the lack of motivated participants. Therefore, travel surveys are carried out less and less frequently, and the result is that good travel data is not available to develop mobility and travel behaviour studies. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) offer the opportunity to improve traditional travel survey methods, decreasing bias in the data, reducing respondent burden, and increasing data quality. On the other hand, nowadays the User Generated Content (UGC) is growing very fast in Internet. Social media have become a valuable source for knowledge but there is a big gap in the automatic Sentiment Analysis with Semantic taxonomy annotation of online textual content. The aim of this research is to identify sustainability issues related to urban mobility based in the perceptions and experiences that underlie in the UGC. The methodology follows a quantitative and qualitative content analysis using Sentiment Analysis techniques. This paper demonstrates empirically the feasibility of the automatic identification of the Sustainable Urban Mobility problems in the discourses generated by the UGC, through a powerful ad-hoc software combining Natural Language Processing and Sentiment Analysis field tools. The main contribution of this work is the development of a tool and methodology on sustainability analysis on urban environment. Our approach enriches the data of the traditional surveys, extends traditional analysis with Big-Data methods, using data mining algorithms and Natural Language Processing techniques to extract urban mobility information from Social Media data. These data include important information about activities and travels, and can help to improve our understanding of urban mobility
