This paper describes the process of training and collaboration between a primary school in the Basque Country and a group of researchers at Mondragon University in the same region. The purpose of the work together is to design and put into practice a project to support reading and writing in two groups of year 6 primary pupils in three curriculum areas: Spanish Language, Basque Language and Science (or Learning about the world around us) taught in three different languages: Spanish, Basque and English. The theoretical foundation chosen to design the didactic units is that of Genre Pedagogy, specifically the method of Reading to Learn developed by David Rose

The CEL Method as an Alternative to the Current Modelling Approaches for Ti6Al4V Orthogonal Cutting Simulation

    Get PDF
The finite element approach is often adopted to study the machining process. The Lagrangian and Eulerian formulations or even Arbitrary Eulerian-Lagrangian (ALE), one of their combinations, are the most employed in the current literature; each having their pros and cons. One of the most challenging issue in finite element modelling is the large strains during the cutting process that induce high deformation levels in the elements of the mesh. Remeshing contributes to decreasing mesh deformation but the criterion adopted to control it influences the results

U-drawing of Fortiform 1050 third generation steels. Numerical and experimental results

    Get PDF
Elasto–plastic behavior of the third generation Fortiform 1050 steel has been analysed using cyclic tension–compression tests. At the same time, the pseudo elastic modulus evolution with plastic strain was analysed using cyclic loading and unloading tests. From the experiments, it was found that the cyclic behavior of the steel is strongly kinematic and elastic modulus decrease with plastic strain is relevant for numerical modelling. In order to numerically analyse a U-Drawing process, strip drawing tests have been carried out at different contact pressures and Filzek model has been used to fit the experimental data and implement a pressure dependent friction law in Autoform software. Finally, numerical predictions of springback have been compared with the experimentally ones obtained using a sensorized UDrawing tooling. Different material and contact models have been examined and most influencing parameters have been identified to model the forming of these new steels

Model driven Hardware-in-the-Loop Fault analysis of railway traction systems

    Get PDF
Classical Dependability Analysis techniques, such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis, have been used during the last decades to demonstrate the reliability, availability, maintainability and safety of industrial equipment. One of the main challenges that these techniques have to overcome is the complexity of current systems, in which more than one engineering domain is involved and many different subsystems interact. In order to facilitate the analysis of fault modes and their effects, some researches have proposed to use models as a tool to merge fault related information with structural and behavioural information. This kind of approach, also known as Model Based Analysis, pretends to develop extended models that can be shared by design and safety engineers. This paper is an example of Model Based Dependability Analysis and Fault Injection applied to a railway traction application. A Hardware-in-the-loop platform was built to inject faults in the model of the traction system and analyse the behaviour of the Traction Control Unit. As a case study, the effects of the faults in current sensors have been analysed. Phase current sensor faults were simulated and effects were identified using the platform. According to the preliminary FMEA and the experience of the technical support team, these faults are the most challenging ones in terms of detection and maintenance. The results show that a preliminary theoretical FMEA can be enhanced using the proposed model-based methodology

Lead-acid batteries have consistently accounted for the largest market share of secondary batteries. However, there is still significant opportunity for improvement of lead-acid battery technology. Typically, lead-acid batteries do not make use of more than 25-35 % of their active materials. To date, there have been few reports of techniques for monitoring of the internal processes which occur during operation of lead-acid batteries. Neutron imaging presents a novel technique for in operando monitoring of lead-acid batteries; however, it requires an appropriately designed leadacid battery. The neutron beam has to pass through the battery without attenuation, carrying information about the inner components. In this work we have designed, optimized and validated a neutron-friendly lead-acid battery, using deuterated electrolyte and a neutron transparent casing.Gaurko egunean, berun-azido bateriek mantentzen dute bateria sekundarioen merkatu-kuotarik handiena oraindik ere. Hala ere, berun-azido bateriaren teknologia hobetzeko tarte esanguratsua dago, azken finean, bere material aktiboen % 25-35 baino ez duelako erabiltzen normalean. Gaur arte, berunazido baterien barne-fenomenoak monitorizatzeko tekniken inguruko ikerketa-lan gutxi dago. Neutroiak erabiltzen dituzten teknikak egokiak izan daitezke berun-azido bateria in operando monitorizatzeko. Horretarako, espresuki diseinaturiko berun-azido bateria beharrezkoa da. Neutroiizpia ahultzerik gabe pasatu behar da baterian zehar, barne-elementuetako informazioa azaleratuz. Lan honetan horrelako bateria diseinatu, optimizatu eta egiaztatu dugu, elektrolito deuteratua eta neutroiekiko gardena den karkasa erabiliz

A Framework For Product Design Based On Semantic Attribution Process

    Get PDF
Existing brands already have certain products that generate a particular experience in customer minds. Every time a customer’s interacts with of brand’s products and related touchpoints, the customer form an idea about the brand. This is how a brand experience is 9constructed in the mind of the customer. Understanding how customers perceive and respond to certain products along the experience, helps designers to better align product design with brand value, in order to guarantee a consistent brand experience. While current literature provide in deep research into customer–brand and customer-product interaction, there is a distinct lack of any substantive assessment of how customer´s interaction with branded product impact on the brand experience. To do so, this paper presents a operational hypothesis to comprehend customer responses to certain branded product. The framework combines general brand experience assessment scales and product cantered experience approaches

Metodología UCAD: nuevo procedimiento de diseño de interfaces centrado en el usuario para la industria 4.0

    Get PDF

Interpretegaien eta gorren testuak: nola eragiten du hizkuntza modalitateak testuen azpiegituran eta edukien ekoizpenean

    Get PDF
Lan honen helburu nagusia da hizkuntza modalitate ezberdinek, ahozkoak eta zeinatuak (zehazkiago esanda, espainiar zeinu-hizkuntzak -LSE-, testu ekoizpenean duten eragina ezagutzea. Lehenik eta behin, zeinu hizkuntzako interpretegaiek ahoz eta gorrek zeinuz ekoiztutako testuak alderatuko ditugu Bronckartek (1996) testu-generoen azterketarako proposatutako marko teoriko-metodologikoan oinarrituta eta hizkuntza modalitate bakoitzaren ezaugarriak ezagutuko ditugu. Bigarrenik, intepretegaiek zeinuz ekoiztutako testuak aztertu eta ekoizpenean dituzten zailtasunak eta oztopoak identifikatuko ditugu. Emaitzek balio digute bi ondorio nagusi ateratzeko: batetik, hizkuntzaren modalitateak ez du testuen azpiegituran eragiten; bestetik, ordea, hizkuntza modalitateak eragina du edukiak ekoizteko erabiltzen diren ikuspegietan, eta oinarrian talde bakoitzaren errealitate soziodiskurtsiboari lotuta daudeThe aim of this work is to know the influence of two language modalities, oral and signed (more specifically the Spanish Sign Language -LSE-) in the texts production. We firstly analyze comparatively signed texts produced by deaf and signed texts produced by listeners in formation to be interpreters of LSE. Next, we analyze the texts produced in LSE by the listeners to identify the difficulties they have in interpreting. The results allow us to draw two conclusions: on the one hand, that the modality does not affect the structure of the text. On the other hand, however, that the contents that in each case are developed in the text are very conditioned by the socio-discursive reality of each collective
