    La estrategia de especialización inteligente de la Unión Europea prevista para el período 2014-2020 pone de manifi esto la importancia de apostar por empresas excelentes con alto potencial (Comisión Europea, 2012). Estas empresas además de ser un eje central para el desarrollo de las regiones pueden constituir un verdadero aprendizaje para que otras empresas puedan avanzar hacia el nuevo escenario competitivo al que nos enfrentamos. Las empresas excelentes aportan capacidades y competencias diferenciales sobre las que se debe construir la estrategia de desarrollo de cada una de las regiones; dicha estrategia debe poner su atención en sacar partido a sus propias ventajas competitivas y potencial de excelencia, fomentar la innovación tecnológica y no tecnológica y, centrarse en el desarrollo basado en el conocimiento (Comisión Europea, 2012). En Euskadi, partiendo de su larga tradición industrial, se ha abordado este proceso centrando el esfuerzo en el desarrollo de sectores y conocimientos referentes, siendo la manufactura uno de los núcleos sobre los que pivota la estrategia diseñada. (Gobierno Vasco, 2014). Las empresas ubicadas en dicho sector necesitan revitalizar y reforzar sus capacidades de referencia, reto ante el cual cuentan con dos caminos posibles: apostar por un crecimiento interno para desarrollar nuevas actividades intensivas en conocimiento; o pueden iniciar un proceso colaborativo con empresas proveedoras de este tipo de servicios. En tal sentido, esta oferta sofi sticada de servicios intensivos en conocimiento permitirá dar una respuesta personalizada a las necesidades encaminadas a la fabricación avanzada. (Comisión Europea, 2012). Dentro de este marco de actuación se ha apostado por el desarrollo del estudio llevado a cabo que se expone en el presente informe. El estudio ha sido desarrollado en la ciudad de Bilbao (Bizkaia), concretamente en una selección de 12 empresas más destacadas del sector de Servicios Avanzados (KIBS), las cuales han aportado un verdadero entorno de aprendizaje acerca de las dinámicas del sector y de las claves competitivas de empresas de dichas características. A continuación, se presentan los resultados obtenidos a partir del estudio; ello incluye un exhaustivo detalle de la metodología, los resultados obtenidos y el análisis correspondiente. Finalmente, se ha incluido un apartado de “Conclusiones y Líneas Futuras” donde se expone el aprendizaje extraído, así como, una llamada a la acción a través de un “plan de acción” como medio facilitador para la implantación de las prácticas avanzadas identifi cadas en otras empresas para mejorar su posición competitiva. Cabe destacar que en el Anexo 1 se recogen líneas de actuación para la transformación competitiva, denominados Proyectos SMART, los cuales permiten trabajar aquellos pilares y factores claves con mayor debilidad

    Azken urteotan Internetek eta teknologiaren garapenak eragindako egoera aldaketak komunikazio ikasketen curriculuma bir-pentsatzeko premia sortu du, sormena erdigunean jarriz. Testuinguru honetan, Mondragon Unibertsitateko Humanitate eta Hezkuntza Zientzien fakultatean design thinking metodologia gidari duen 15 asteko modulu bat jarri da martxan, non ikus-entzunezko komunikazioko graduko ikasleek ikus-entzunezko formatu edo eduki berritzaile bat sortu behar duten. Esperientzia honen bitartez helburua da ikasleek euren sormen gaitasunaren eraginkortasun auto-pertzepzioa areagotzen laguntzea. Lan honetan deskribatuko da 15 asteko modulua, eta ikasleen sormen gaitasunaren eraginkortasun auto-pertzepzioa nola neurtu den.In recent years, the emergence of the Internet and the development of new technology have created a need to rethink the curriculum of communication studies, placing creativity in the center of education. Within this context, a 15-week module based on the design thinking methodology has been designed and launched at the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of Mondragon University, where media undergraduate students are challenged to create an innovative audiovisual format or content. The aim of this module is to help students increase their creative self-efficacy through the process. Therefore, this paper offers a description of the 15-week module and it also explains how student creative self-efficacy was measured

    This article seeks to answer the question of how value proposition is created using a human-centred approach in the context of deservitization, in general, and service dilution, in particular. The article aims to describe the journey of a company which undertook service dilution and used human-centred design to create a new product-oriented value proposition. The study adopted a research through design approach in conjunction with a single case study of an engineering and manufacturing services provider that recently initiated a service dilution process. Within the framework of university-business collaboration, a design project was developed. The main insights of the study pertain to the role of human-centred design as a way of learning and surpassing the pure exploitation of existing capabilities during the service dilution process. Learning by design is also seen as a potential alternative learning process that fuels exploration during the service dilution process

    Mixed convolutional and long short-term memory network for the detection of lethal ventricular arrhythmia

    Early defibrillation by an automated external defibrillator (AED) is key for the survival of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients. ECG feature extraction and machine learning have been successfully used to detect ventricular fibrillation (VF) in AED shock decision algorithms. Recently, deep learning architectures based on 1D Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) have been proposed for this task. This study introduces a deep learning architecture based on 1D-CNN layers and a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network for the detection of VF. Two datasets were used, one from public repositories of Holter recordings captured at the onset of the arrhythmia, and a second from OHCA patients obtained minutes after the onset of the arrest. Data was partitioned patient-wise into training (80%) to design the classifiers, and test (20%) to report the results. The proposed architecture was compared to 1D-CNN only deep learners, and to a classical approach based on VF-detection features and a support vector machine (SVM) classifier. The algorithms were evaluated in terms of balanced accuracy (BAC), the unweighted mean of the sensitivity (Se) and specificity (Sp). The BAC, Se, and Sp of the architecture for 4-s ECG segments was 99.3%, 99.7%, and 98.9% for the public data, and 98.0%, 99.2%, and 96.7% for OHCA data. The proposed architecture outperformed all other classifiers by at least 0.3-points in BAC in the public data, and by 2.2-points in the OHCA data. The architecture met the 95% Sp and 90% Se requirements of the American Heart Association in both datasets for segment lengths as short as 3-s. This is, to the best of our knowledge, the most accurate VF detection algorithm to date, especially on OHCA data, and it would enable an accurate shock no shock diagnosis in a very short time

    n embedded system is a self-contained system that incorporateselements of control logic and real-world interaction. UML State Ma-chines constitute a powerful formalism to model the behaviour ofthese types of systems. In current industrial environments, the soft-ware of these embedded systems have to cope with the increasingcomplexity and robustness requirements at runtime. One way tomanage these requirements is having the software component’sbehaviour model available at runtime ([email protected]). Thus,it is possible to enhance the safety of the software component byenabling verification and adaptation at runtime. In this paper, wepresent a model-driven approach to generate software components(namely, RESCO framework), which are able both to provide theirinternal information in model terms at runtime and adapt their be-haviour automatically when an error or an unexpected situation isdetected. The aforementioned runtime introspection and adaptationabilities are added automatically to the software component and itdoes not require the developer make any extra effort. The solutionhas been tested in the design and implementation of an industrialBurner controller. Results indicate that the software components ge-nerated by the presented solution provides introspection at runtime.Thanks to this introspection ability at runtime, the software com-ponents are able to adapt automatically from their normal-modebehaviour to a safe-mode behaviour which was defined to be usedin erroneous or unexpected situations at runtime. Therefore, it ispossible to enhance the safety of the systems consisting of thesesoftware components

    En este artículo nos proponemos explicar la intervención educativa que se realiza en la escuela pública Ramón Bajo, de Vitoria-Gasteiz (Comunidad Autónoma Vasca) con objeto de responder a la desventaja socio-económica y cultural de las familias y contribuir de este modo a una mayor equidad entre el alumnado. Nos centraremos en concreto en un conjunto de estrategias que configuran lo que consideramos una buena práctica en la etapa de Educación Infantil.This paper intends to explain a educational intervention carried out in the public school Ramón Bajo, Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Autonomous Community) in order to respond to the socio-economic and cultural disadvantage of families and to contribute to a higher equity among students.     Modelling and Resolution of Dynamic Reliability Problems by the Coupling of Simulink and the Stochastic Hybrid Fault Tree Object Oriented (SHyFTOO) Library

    Dependability assessment is one of the most important activities for the analysis of complex systems. Classical analysis techniques of safety, risk, and dependability, like Fault Tree Analysis or Reliability Block Diagrams, are easy to implement, but they estimate inaccurate dependability results due to their simplified hypotheses that assume the components’ malfunctions to be independent from each other and from the system working conditions. Recent contributions within the umbrella of Dynamic Probabilistic Risk Assessment have shown the potential to improve the accuracy of classical dependability analysis methods. Among them, Stochastic Hybrid Fault Tree Automaton (SHyFTA) is a promising methodology because it can combine a Dynamic Fault Tree model with the physics-based deterministic model of a system process, and it can generate dependability metrics along with performance indicators of the physical variables. This paper presents the Stochastic Hybrid Fault Tree Object Oriented (SHyFTOO), a Matlab® software library for the modelling and the resolution of a SHyFTA model. One of the novel features discussed in this contribution is the ease of coupling with a Matlab® Simulink model that facilitates the design of complex system dynamics. To demonstrate the utilization of this software library and the augmented capability of generating further dependability indicators, three di erent case studies are discussed and solved with a thorough description for the implementation of the corresponding SHyFTA models

    Communicative Acts Used by Emergent Trilingual Pupils in English Classrooms in the Basque Autonomous Community

    This research aims at examining the communicative acts (CA) performed by Grade 5 emergent trilingual pupils in the Basque Autonomous Community (BAC) in northern Spain when interacting in the English classroom. Likewise, it examines translanguaging practices when performing CA to analyze whether pupils deploy similar linguistic resources (LR) regardless of the CA they enact. Moreover, it investigates whether pupils from different sociolinguistic contexts behave similarly. Preliminary results suggest that Grade 5 pupils taking part in this study enact CA related to inviting elaboration or reasoning, expressing or inviting ideas, guiding direction of dialogue or activity, positioning and coordination, and showing understanding by using LR coming from different linguistic systems (mostly English and Basque) when interacting in the English classroom across sociolinguistic areas
