In diesem Beitrag wird die Diskussion um Inhalte und Werkzeuge der Kompetenzentwicklung im Wissensmanagement dargestellt. Eine Darstellung der informationswissenschaftlichen Fachdiskussion zur Entwicklung von Kompetenzrahmen im bibliothekarischen Aufgabenbereich der Information Literacy Education erläutert das Konzept des Kompetenzrahmens und stellt sein Potenzial für die Qualitätssicherung von Ausbildung und beruflicher Weiterbildung dar

Die Stärkung von Informationskompetenz im Kontext des Forschungsdatenmanagements
Um das Forschungsdatenmanagement an den Hochschulen erfolgreich zu implementieren, ist eine entsprechende Stärkung der Informationskompetenz unverzichtbar. Nicht nur die Lernenden, Lehrenden und Forschenden sind gefragt, auch die Serviceeinrichtungen der Hochschulen sollten sich auf die neue Herausforderung einstellen. Die Hochschulen sind aufgerufen, neue Studiengänge anzubieten, die Berufsprofile wie den Data Steward, den Data Librarian oder den Data Scientist schaffen. Unerlässlich ist außerdem auch das Engagement der Hochschulleitungen. Es existieren an deutschen Hochschulen bereits einige gute Beispiele, sowohl was den Aufbau eines Forschungsdatenmanagements als auch der entsprechenden Informationskompetenz angeht. Allerdings bedarf es zugleich eines koordinierenden Handelns, damit bestehende bottom up-Initiativen zu einem national und international abgestimmten Forschungsdatenmanagement weiterentwickelt werden können. Hier ist vor allem die Politik gefragt. Sie sollte sich nicht nur an der nationalen Koordinierung des Forschungsdatenmanagements aktiv beteiligen, sondern auch die nötigen Sondermittel bereitstellen
Affectively Aligned Cognitive Assistance Using Bayesian Affect Control Theory
This paper describes a novel emotionally intelligent cognitive assistant to engage and help older adults with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) to complete activities of daily living (ADL) more independently. Our new system combines two research streams. First, the development of cognitive assistants with artificially intelligent controllers using partially observable Markov decision processes (POMDPs). Second, a model of the dynamics of emotion and identity called Affect Control Theory that arises from the sociological literature on culturally shared sentiments. We present background material on both of these research streams, and then demonstrate a prototype assistive technology that combines the two. We discuss the affective reasoning, the probabilistic and decision-theoretic reasoning, the computer-vision based activity monitoring, the embodied prompting, and we show results in proof-of-concept tests

Emergence is a concept that is not easy to grasp, since it contradicts our idea of central control and planning. In this work, we use a swarm of robots as a tangible tool to visualize interactions as the underlying principle of emergence.
We utilize phosphorescent sheet (i.e. glow-in-the-dark foil) that can be activated with UV LEDs to visualize local information transfer between the robots in form of fading luminescent trails. The robots are specially designed to be both easy-to-understand and easy-to-build. They are a low-cost kit that can allow non-professionals to explore collective behaviour. By playing with the robots, they can get an understanding of complex systems such as emergence or Ant Colony Optimization algorithms in an automatic and playful way
Advanced prototyping with fritzing
This studio will give participants a hands-on introduction to Fritzing, a free software tool for advancing electronic prototyping for researchers and practitioners of tangible, interactive electronics. Participants will bring one of their hand-wired prototypes (or a concrete concept) and in several steps learn to document it properly, share it with the community, and turn it into a professional printed circuit board
Recording inner life
"Recording Inner Life" is the title of my master's thesis. It is a system to express the "inner life" (feelings, affects, and emotions) and record them on a long-term basis into a computational system. In contrast to a lot of the research in the field of affective computing this project is not dedicated to enable machines to detect human emotions but to allow an adequate input for emotions. It presents "MyInnerLife", a physical input device to express and record emotions non-verbally
