No full textDer so genannte Freeze Frame, also die optische Illusion des stehenden, 'eingefrorenen' Filmbildes, konstituiert eine Zone des Übergangs zwischen Film und Fotografie, bewegtem und stehendem Bild, laufender und aufgehobener Zeit, sowie, je nach Organisation des Materials, zwischen Narration und Tableau, Sequenz und Stasis, horizontaler und vertikaler Lektüre. Ausgehend vom Freeze Frame als einer hybriden, intermedialen Struktur par excellence sind die zwölf Beiträge des vorliegenden Bandes darauf ausgerichtet, die Beziehung von Film und Fotografie vor allem mit Blick auf Spannungsverhältnisse und Grenzgänge zwischen den beiden Medien und die damit verbundenen Zeit- und Darstellungsökonomien zu untersuchen

No full textIm Mittelpunkt des Panels steht die Frage des Umgangs mit Misserfolgen in den Digital Humanities. Warum wird so wenig über Scheitern in DH-Projektkontexten geredet und noch weniger offiziell publiziert obwohl es einleuchtend zu sein scheint, dass es genauso wichtig ist aus Fehlern zu lernen, wie aus Erfolgen. Immer wieder die gleichen Fehler zu machen kostet nicht nur Geld und Zeit, ohne eine gute Fehlerkultur hat auch die praktische Umsetzung von Open Science-Prinzipien in den Geisteswissenschaften einen schweren Stand, weil sich niemand "in die Karten schauen" lassen will. Die Panelist*innen diskutieren daher multiperspektivisch Schwächen der bisherigen Fehlerkultur in den DH und wie diese verbessert werden kann. Ein Beitrag zur 9. No full textThe focus of the summer school was on interdisciplinary cooperation. Students and lecturers from the Potsdam University of the three building studies (Architecture and Urban planning, Civil Engineering and Conservation and Restoration) as well as from the Uzbek side from the fields of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Applied Arts devoted themselves to the building with different tasks. A key project goal was to enable students to perceive, recognize and examine a building through long-term study on the spot under professional guidance from various disciplines. They got to know different approaches to a monument together, to practice different investigation and measurement methods and to discuss and interpret the results obtained

Dabei empfiehlt es sich, Software und Systeme zu nutzen, die den Wandel hin zu einer offenen, niederschwelligen und nachhaltigen Wissenschaftskultur fördern. Hierzu zählt in erster Linie die Verwendung von Open-Source-Software. Unsere Empfehlungen haben dabei eine begrenzte Reichweite: Serviceanbieter, Software und Projekte sind zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt ggf. nicht mehr verfügbar. Auch sind gerade die Infrastruktureinrichtungen in das föderale Wissenschaftssystem integriert, was sie bestimmten Unwägbarkeiten aussetzt
Rethinking how children individuate objects
No full textThe current understanding of cognitive development rests on the premise that infants can individuate objects early on. However, the so-called object-first account faces severe difficulties explaining extant empirical findings in object individuation tasks while alternative, more parsimonious explanations are available. In this paper, we assume that children start as feature-thinkers without being able to individuate objects and show how this ability can be learned by thinkers who do not already implicitly possess the notion of an object. Based on Tugendhat's ideas on the relation between singular terms and object reference, we argue that spatial indexicals comprise the fundamental means of object individuation and describe how feature thinkers might acquire the complex substitutional system of spatial indexicals. In closing, two accounts of object cognition that do not rely on symbolic capacities, namely Pylyshyn's FINST indexes and Burge's perceptual objectivity, are critically discussed
Anxiety-Related Content on Instagram and Twitter: A Mixed Methods Analysis of Mental Health Communication and Information Sharing
No full textApproximately four percent of the world’s population suffers from anxiety disorders. This makes anxiety disorders one of the most common mental illnesses and a significant global health concern. As social media is a primary source of health information and communication, this study aims at investigating how the hashtag #anxiety is used on Twitter and Instagram. The hashtag #anxiety was chosen because it is commonly used by the social media community to post or tweet about anxiety disorders, such as social anxiety, thus providing broad access to the data. We followed a quantitative approach and gathered open data from December 24th, 2019 to January 1st, 2020. Furthermore, we used a qualitative content analysis to detect topics and patterns within the data. Coding focused on identifying goals, motivations, and feelings concerning anxiety (disorders) and information sharing. Findings show that content and appearance of posts are strongly shaped by characteristics of the platforms. Additionally, the results unveil that both platforms serve as mediua for sharing information regarding mental health matters, such as personal experiences, challenges, and coping strategies, thereby cultivating a sense of community and support among users dealing with comparable issues. Twitter predominantly functions for real-time updates, in-situ interactions, and emergency communication, while Instagram's visual nature appears to offer a venue for creative expression through images and captions, illuminating the emotional and personal narratives of mental health journeys

Die Diskussion über den Ertrag und Weiterentwicklungen auf dem Gebiet einer Kindheits- und Jugendforschung, die sich in Beziehung setzt zu sozialisationstheoretischen Fragen, soll durch die im Band versammelten konzeptuellen und empirischen Beiträge weiter befruchtet werden
