How gender-fair are gender-neutralizing and feminization strategies ? Grammatical gender choices in Netherlandic vs Belgian Dutch sports press on women's football
No full textInternational audienceThis paper offers a comparative corpus-based analysis of the distribution of masculine, feminine and epicene nouns denoting female players in written football press in the Netherlandic and Belgian varieties of Dutch. Our study reveals that in Belgian Dutch the feminine forms clearly dominate, despite a more marked use of epicene nouns in the plural. In Netherlandic Dutch, by contrast, the use of masculine nouns is much more extensive, especially when it comes to technical football terms, a fact compensated by the massive presence of general terms denoting female football players and women in general. In both language varieties, however, titles contain significantly more feminine nouns, while masculine nouns are most common in players’ quotations, illustrating how diatopic differences may be overruled by discursive constraints, in this case of sports press

No full textInternational audience« Le poème migre / Il s’appelle / Chant sans Terre / il est serpent et dragon / tout à la fois sol des Migrants et Mer / Sans racine de terre, / Ulysse de justesse ? » Laure Gauthier poursuit ici son travail poétique sur l’énonciation et la polyphonie. Ainsi les dialogues de la première suite chorale intitulée Le terme des lamentations sont de véritables chants tenus par des protagonistes où se découvrent à la fois l’évocation de personnages classiques de la culture prémoderne (Abélard, Héloïse…) et la projection d’une sensibilité à fleur de voix. La deuxième suite poétique intitulée Le serpent b nous entraîne sur les hautes terres de l’Asie afin d’évoquer la légende chinoise des deux serpents vivant dans la montagne, et qui, après mille ans d’existence et de méditation, se transforment en femmes. Ces deux suites ne sont pas étrangères l’une à l’autre, elles inscrivent un même terrain de l’expérience du monde et de la relation à l’autre, plus singulièrement, de la relation amoureuse au sens le plus large et profond qui soit

No full textInternational audienceSi à l’échelle internationale, la recherche scientifique a quelque peu étudié les menstruations des jeunes filles tantôt à l’école, dans leur vie quotidienne, et/ou dans l’espace sportif (Harvey et al., 2020 ; Takabayashi-Ebina et al., 2023), nous n’avons à ce jour repéré aucune étude en francophonie et particulièrement en EPS ciblant la question menstruelle. Pourtant, un rapport dans le cadre scolaire mentionne que « le retentissement » des menstruations est réel puisqu’une jeune femme de moins de 24 ans sur deux aurait déjà été absente en France à cause des menstruations (Essity, 2020). Sujet tabou persistant (Essity, 2020), LeDuc (2023) a également montré auprès des jeunes filles québécoises que les « sensations d’écoulement » peuvent gêner leur pratique physique en EPS. Comment la discipline EPS prend-t-elle en compte l’expérience corporelles des jeunes filles menstruées. Est-ce que les enseignant·es d’EPS sont outillé·es et formé·s pour adopter une posture professionnelle adéquate auprès des jeunes filles ?En tant qu’objet de recherche novateur (Paintendre et Favier-Ambrosini, soumis), notre intervention aura un triple objectif : 1. Faire un bilan de l’état de la littérature scientifique vis-à-vis des menstruations en EPS dans la francophonie (positionnement par rapport à la recherche internationale) ; 2. Exposer l’originalité d’un programme de recherche à la croisée de la phénoménologie et de la sociologie du genre pour étudier les menstruations en EPS ; 3. Proposer les préliminaires du projet de recherche « corps féminin et menstruations. Dialogue des expériences corporelles des élèves et des gestes professionnels des enseignants en France et au Québec ».En somme, l’enjeu de cette présentation vise à questionner le rôle et la nature de la formation des enseignant·es d’EPS dans la francophonie vis-à-vis de la question des menstruations en EPS pour favoriser la réussite des jeunes filles.Bibliographie :Essity. Changes in social and human–animal interactions in people with epilepsy during dog-assisted interventions
No full textInternational audienceEpilepsy is a neurological disorder with physical, psychological, and social consequences that can be alleviated by the integration of a service dog in their daily life. Reports showed that various populations benefit from animal-assisted interventions, particularly dog-assisted interventions (DAI). However, to our knowledge, no study has yet examined the effects of DAI on individuals with epilepsy.This study aimed to characterize the interactions of individuals with epilepsy during DAI sessions. Ten adults with epilepsy (five women and five men; mean age: 24.4 ± 3.0 years) participated in three separate groups, each receiving 10 one-hour DAI sessions. Participants' behaviours were assessed using ethological methods (i.e., scan and focal sampling) and data concerning their quality of life and anxiety were collected before and after the interventions, using standardized scales.Our results showed that vocalizations were primarily used in human-to-human exchanges, whereas physical contacts and visual behaviours were more prevalent in human-dog interactions. The therapy dog consistently attracted participants' attention and was a focal point for physical contact. Over the course of the sessions, interactions with other humans increased, while initial interactions with a therapy dog were strong and remained consistent throughout the interventions. This suggests that a dog may serve as a social catalyst, facilitating affiliative relationships among participants.These findings back DAI as a promising non-pharmacological approach to enhance social engagements of individuals with epilepsy. Further research is needed to explore its long-term benefits on social relationships and individuals' well-being, as well as its underlying mechanisms
Main conclusions and perspectives from the collective scientific assessment of the effects of plant protection products on biodiversity and ecosystem services along the land–sea continuum in France and French overseas territories
No full textErratum : 10.1007/s11356-025-36011-4International audiencePreservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services is critical for sustainable development and human well-being. However, an unprecedented erosion of biodiversity is observed and the use of plant protection products (PPP) has been identified as one of its main causes. In this context, at the request of the French Ministries responsible for the Environment, for Agriculture and for Research, a panel of 46 scientific experts ran a nearly 2-year-long (2020-2022) collective scientific assessment (CSA) of international scientific knowledge relating to the impacts of PPP on biodiversity and ecosystem services. The scope of this CSA covered the terrestrial, atmospheric, freshwater, and marine environments (with the exception of groundwater) in their continuity from the site of PPP application to the ocean, in France and French overseas territories, based on international knowledge produced on or transposable to this type of context (climate, PPP used, biodiversity present, etc.). Here, we provide a brief summary of the CSA's main conclusions, which were drawn from about 4500 international publications. Our analysis finds that PPP contaminate all environmental matrices, including biota, and cause direct and indirect ecotoxicological effects that unequivocally contribute to the decline of certain biological groups and alter certain ecosystem functions and services. Levers for action to limit PPP-driven pollution and effects on environmental compartments include local measures from plot to landscape scales and regulatory improvements. However, there are still significant gaps in knowledge regarding environmental contamination by PPPs and its effect on biodiversity and ecosystem functions and services. Perspectives and research needs are proposed to address these gaps

This is an algebraic continued fraction which admits an expansion into a Taylor series around , with integral coefficients. By using the notion of Hankel continued fraction introduced by the first author in 2016 we determine explicitly the first sequences of shifted Hankel determinants of and show that they satisfy the following properties: 1) They are periodic and consist of only. 2) They satisfy a three-term Gale-Robinson recurrence, i.e. they form discrete integrable dynamical systems. 3) They are all completely determined by the first sequence. This article thus validates a conjecture formulated by V. Ovsienko and the second author in a recent paper and establishes new connections between -deformations of real numbers and sequences of Catalan or Motzkin numbers
