Reflection of preschool teacher in encouraging the development of the child's self-image
Podaci su prikupljeni i analizirani primjenom različitih metoda i istraživačkih faza: profesionalna biografija i ključna postignuća u karijeri odgojiteljice; analiza institucijskoga okruženja; tematska analiza intervjua s odgojiteljicom. The contemporary role of the preschool teacher is one where the preschool teacher is a reflective practitioner and action researcher who constantly reflects on his work and its improvement. It is important to review one's own interventions, to find ways to correct oneself and to base the improvement of practice on the results of the evaluation. Preschool teachers should not be teachers-lecturers, but curious observers of learning and their own teaching through the creation of a quality environment. The goal of the research work was to find out the contribution of reflection in order to encourage the development of a child's positive self-image. Based on various data, wanted to gain insight into the application of the teacher's reflection in everyday educational practice and as part of encouraging the development of the child's self-image. An effort was made to analyze in depth the teacher's views on reflection and how to use it, especially for the purpose of developing the child's self-image. The data was collected and analyzed using different methods and research phases: professional biography and key achievements in the career of the preschool teacher, analysis of the institutional environment; thematic analysis of the interview with the preschool teacher. The contribution of the teacher's reflection in encouraging the development of the child's image in this research speaks of a professional who constantly reviews his work and improves his professional practice in order to best meet the child's needs. The respondent states that reflection and self-reflection is important because it is the way in which the preschool teacher grows in his work, it is where he notices his strenghts and weaknesses that he can influence and work on and improve. Of the reflection techniques, the use of the photo/video documentation stands out the most. Namely, by analyzing photos and videos, the teacher sees children's behaviors, their thoughts, interests, and their positive and negative characteristics. In the conducted research, we see the importance of joint reflection, which represents the cooperation of professionals for the purpose of developing a positive image in children. The respondent encourages joint reflection among educators in the educational institution where she works in order to improve their educational work with joint efforts
Awareness assessment in parents of preschool aged children regarding the depiction of violence in animated films
Djeci predškolske dobi animirani filmovi dio su igre. Oni razvijaju maštu i jezične sposobnosti, no mogu i negativno utjecati na djecu. Animated films form a part of preschool children's play. They develop imagination and language skills, but they can also have a negative effect on children. Today, there are many animated films available to children that may show violent scenes. Through the play, children can imitate scenes from animated films and excessive viewing of such content can lead to aggressive behaviour. Parents should be informed about the content of the animated film that the children are watching, and through a conversation with the child, explain what and why something happened in the movie and what are the consequences of such behaviour. The research was conducted with the aim of checking the awareness of parents about the depiction of violent scenes in animated films and to examine the actions and attitudes of parents about animated films. The research was conducted in the City of Osijek, using the method of an online questionnaire that was intended for parents of preschool children. 171 parents participated in the research, of which 87.1% (N=149) are women, and 12.9% (N=22) are men. The results showed differences between the highest completed level of education and hours of watching animated films, in which it was proven that children of parents who completed graduate studies spent less time watching animated films on average than children of parents who completed only high school. Also, it was proven that parents who completed graduate studies chose animated films more on average than parents who completed undergraduate studies. The analysis of the series of short films Paw Patrol, Masha and the Bear and The Loud House, and the results of parents, proved that parents are not aware of the depiction of violent scenes in the animated films that are offered in the questionnaire. The work aims to raise awareness of the importance of familiarity with the content of animated films that preschool children watch
Effects of programmed physical exercise on motor status of preschool children
The childhood period is a complex period of life as it encompasses a wide range of abilities and knowledge that are, content-wise, being developed and acquired at that age. Nowadays, due to the increasingly prevalent sedentary lifestyle, it is of the utmost importance to develop positive feelings towards physical exercise among children from an early age. Given that physical activity of the pre-school children is increasingly handled by institutions such as kindergartens, the education of those who educate is needed, along with their motivation and involvement, so that through the process of proper planning, programming and implementation of physical exercise activities, a progress in the development of the child in all areas would be noted. The analysis of previous research has proven how programmed physical exercise has a positive effect on the child's motor skills. In the overall exercise process, the attitudes of educators and parents towards exercise also play an important role, while motivating and providing support to children are indispensable part of practice in order to develop good habits and positive feelings regarding the physical activity among children
Children's drawing as a means of communication
Children's drawing is one of the effective ways of communication through artistic expression that allows children to express themselves, their emotions and inner conflicts in a non-verbal way. This paper is written with the aim of better understanding and more effective use of children's drawing as a means of communication.
In the first part of the paper, the concept of children's artistic expression and the stages of development of children's drawing are described, which begin with the phase of research with primary symbols, then move to the phase of expression with complex symbols, the phase of intellectual realism and end with entering the phase of visual realism. The phases follow one another, but each child moves from one to the next at an individual pace. Each of the mentioned stages of development has its own specifics that are related to the complete development of the child.
The following chapters describe the drawing as a means of communication and a way of analyzing the drawing so that we can recognize the messages that the child sends us and draw certain conclusions from them. Drawing as a means of communication is presented from the point of view of the theme of a children's drawing, where it is described what the child is telling us by drawing a certain theme and what are the most common symbols that the child shows, emotion in the children's drawing, where the value of non-verbal expression for expressing emotions is particularly emphasized, size as an indicator of what is particularly important to the child in the drawing and the meaning of the colors with which the child sends a certain message.
Special sub-chapters within the paper are dedicated to the description of the use of drawings for diagnostic purposes, where known diagnostic tests are described, as well as the method of communication using drawings with children with intellectual disabilities, mental disorders and autism.
At the end of the paper, the expression of children's emotions through an art activity carried out in a kindergarten is shown, and a few concluding words are stated that speak about the importance of drawing as a means of communication
Montessori Didactic Materials In Primary Education
Dijete spoznaje svijet kroz igru, a dojmove o vanjskom svijetu prikuplja osjetilima vida, dodira, sluha, mirisa i okusa. Maria Montessori is one of the most important people in modern education. She dedicated her life to advocate for the rights of children and prove their intellectual abilities. Basic principle of her pedagogy is „help me do it myself“. Her educational method was based on self-teaching and self-education. She believed that a child should have a freedom of choice, and make independent choices according to their needs and interests. Maria emphasized the importance of relationship between child and his environment. Prepared environment has a significant role in realization of educational goals, and is adjusted to the needs of child, offering the child everything he needs for physical, cognitive and social development. Montessori classroom is specially arranged space designed for working and studying. The child learns about the world trough play, and experiences it through the sense of sight, touch, hearing, smell and taste. Having that in mind, Maria Montessori designed didactic materials with which the children can learn about connections and relationships that are present in world. She called the materials „the key that opens the door to the world“. The materials are organically made and its size corresponds to hand of a child. This thesis brings an overview of Montessori didactic materials used for teaching mathematics, language, science, music and art culture. The thesis also describes the design of Montessori materials, while also showcasing it using the photographs of the materials. Furthermore, the thesis brings an overview of how the materials are used, describing the exercises teachers can use in the classroom. The aim of this thesis is to expand on the knowledge about the possibilities of using Montessori didactic materials in classroom in order to convey the teaching content in an interesting and simple way for children. The paper emphasizes the relationship between the student and the teacher. The teacher should possess the following characteristics: cheerfulness, patience, calmness and gentleness, and above all should love children and be respectful. By studying the literature, it can be concluded that there are many Montessori didactic materials that make learning new content easier for children, and encourage children to learn and explore the world around them
Ability of coordination, agility and balance and kinesiology operators on their develop
The goal of this research was to establish the abilities of balance, coordination and agility in preschool children, and to see if the results can be improved through the exercise process or repeating the exercisesof mentioned motorical abilities. The research is carried out on a sample of 11 respondents in kindergarden in Vinkovci at the age of 5 to 6.5. The effects of exercise process were measured using three measuring instruments, namely rolling shooting, balance test and agility test. The gained results showed that the exercise process or motor learning had affectedon the development of precision, coordination and agility but not significantly
Attitudes of educators towards rhythmic gymnastics at an early age
The aim of this research was to examine the attitudes of educators towards rhythmic gymnastics at an early age, where they conduct kinesiological activities with children, whether they have enough equipment for implementation, adequate space, and how the activities affect children at an early age. For the purposes of this research, an online anonymous questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was created. 70 respondents participated, 100% of whom were women. The results showed a positive attitude towards encouraging children to kinesiological activities with elements of rhythmic gymnastics, they agree that they affect children's health and that it is necessary to carry them out with children. Also, the majority of respondents agreed that kindergartens do not have adequate space and enough equipment for high-quality implementation of kinesiological activities with elements of rhythmic gymnastics. It should be pointed out that rhythmic gymnastics achieves high-quality physical education due to the comprehensiveness of kinesiological activities that are carried out through play for children of an early age, and they are based on natural forms of movement. In order to achieve this the educator has a great role, who should be a model for children and know well the impact of growth and development on the anthropological status of children and the age differences of groups to make the activities suitable for children
About non-verbal communication of kindergarten and preschool children during storytelling
Communication is a basic means of human interaction whose goal is to convey certain information. It is impossible to separate verbal from non-verbal communication because they complement each other. People are not even aware of the constant presence of non-verbal signs that can sometimes reveal things about us that we didn't want to share with others. From birth, children have a predisposition for the development of speech, which manifests itself in the pre-verbal period, during which children use non-verbal signs such as looks, gestures, facial expressions, vocalizations and so on.
The main purpose of this work was to conduct a two-part research in which children and educators participated. The first part of the research was conducted among 12 children aged three to five of a mixed age group in a kindergarten in the city of Zagreb, which focused on observing the children during the story, and then during the interviews that were conducted with each child individually. The second part of the research consisted of a survey questionnaire for educators who recorded their observations about the non-verbal signs that children use. The obtained results fulfilled the research hypotheses
The impact of the pandemic and digital media on children`s physical activity
Cilj ovog rada je predstaviti kako digitalni mediji i pandemija utječu na fizičku aktivnost djece. Utjecajem društva digitalni mediji postali su dio svakodnevnog života ljudi diljem svijeta bez obzira na dobnu skupinu, počevši od rođenja do smrti. Pod takvim utjecajem djeca sve više i češće koriste tehnologiju. This paper aims to present how the digital media and the pandemic had affected children's physical activity. Through its influence in society, the daily media plays a key role in everyday lives of countless people all over the world regardless of age group, starting at the earliest stages of their lives right up to their end. Under such influence, children are inclined to use technology more than ever before. Daily exposure to the digital media also affects the upbringing as well as education of children. Throughout the use of digital media, children can encourage productive learning with appropriate content and distance learning. In the course of such learning, the parents play a key role; they can control the time that child spends behind the screen, as well as the content that a child is being exposed to. Thus, given the fact that children spend more and more time behind the screen they are becoming vulnerable to various scams and exposed to inappropriate content with significant consequences. The ever increasing availability of digital media to children is bringing several issues such as problems with concentration, attention, speech development, and increased fatigue due to the time spent behind the screen. The outbreak of the pandemic caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus and the subsequent rapid spread of the infection led to the restrictions on movement, due to which children were basically physically inactive and socially isolated. In the course of some of the more restrictive measures to protect the health of the children and other people, ordinary everyday life has moved in the online sphere. Staying and moving in the open turned into staying indoors for days on end, which, as a result, led to a significant decrease in physical activity. By staying in households and educational institutions, we encourage children to be physically active through exercise, cleaning, or organized sports. On the other hand, children are physically more active during their stay outside due to the wide range of activities they can find in the outdoor environment
The history of kinesiology in Croatia
The goal of this thesis is to present important facts and historical moments during the development of kinesiology in Croatia for the purpose of historical hindsight and better and smarter behavior in the future.
