The actualization of the topic of work is the result of modern trends in maritime affairs characterized by the globalization of the maritime labor market and the formation of multicultural crews. The multicultural crew has its own specifics that require the development of competencies related to respect and understanding of other cultures. Lack of developed multicultural awareness and multicultural understanding can result in misunderstandings between crew members, poor communication and consequently the creation of unfavorable working conditions, increased safety risks and ultimately accidents and incidents on board. In addition to theoretical determinants of culture and highlighting the differences between Western and Eastern culture and the impact of globalization on the culture of individual peoples, the impact of multicultural crews on maritime safety at work was observed through various aspects such as cultural factors, communication, male dominance, training and management. motivation and attitudes towards safety and organizational factors related to maritime safety. The paper proves that understanding different cultures and improving language skills, especially English language skills for seafarers results in increased maritime safety

Testing the electromagnetic compliance of the device according to the regulations of the competent authorities for a particular market is an important step before marketing the device to the end user. To avoid the need to redesign and test a device, it is recommended that when developing a new device, the recommendations of the professional community be followed and laboratory testing be performed prior to final compliance testing. In addition to regulatory compliance, preliminary product compliance testing can also contribute to the quality of the final product. This paper presents the process of developing the board, manufacturing the board, and testing the conducted and radiated interference of the final device

Nautical tourism is part of the international tourism industry, which is experiencing the largest and fastest growth in the world. It consists of the ports of nautical tourism, of which a subtype is the marina. A marina is a special type of port for nautical tourism that provides moorings, boat accommodations and other additional facilities and services. One of the negative impacts on the environment is the construction of marinas, breakwaters and additional facilities. The problem arises from the construction of marinas for nautical tourism in the wrong places, resulting in various types of pollution. In addition, there is a marine pollution from the ships also. Oil, ballast discharge, oil and trace elements destroy organisms and negatively affect marine flora and fauna. Pollution prevention measures are laid down in conventions, regulations and standards. In addition, the sustainable development of nautical tourism in Croatia is presented

Kvalitetnijom uslugom stječe konkurentniji položaj na tržištu, a time doprinosi i konkurentnosti pojedinog prometnog pravca. As a result of increasing globalization and population growth, there is an increasing need for transport services. Transport services are formed according to the current market and the current relationship between supply and demand. The needs and requirements for the service are getting bigger, while the possibilities of a particular traffic route are limited. The port, as an important link in traffic, generally depends on constant changes in the market, but in order to secure it's position on the market and oppose the competition, it must keep up with current demand and satisfy user requirements with it's offer. Therefore, constant investments are needed in the development and improvement of both the infrastructure and the service itself. With a higher quality service, it gains a more competitive position on the market, thereby contributing to the competitiveness of a particular traffic route

The main topic of this paper is liquefied natural gas used as ships fuel . The paper explains its composition (physical and chemical properties), the dangers and advantages of gas, and the way it is stored. The way which gas is liquefied and transported are also listed. In the first part of the paper, we are going back into the past of the creation of the first ships that transported and used liquefied gas. It's also stated the composition of the gas, how it behave nature and what are its advantages and disadvantages. Also the ways of how you are handling gas and the procedures when the human body comes into direct contact with gas are explained. In the following text, it is explained which devices are needed on ship using gas as fuel, some of their features and alarms. A small section on propulsion devices that run on gas was also elaborated. It is also discussed about the gas stored tank, their characteristics and forms. At the end, there is a regulation that explains what is needed for a ship to transport gas and use it as fuel

This paper represents the research conducted about how the fuel oil change-over method has effect on specific fuel oil consumption, viscosity of fuel, fuel temperature and main engine parameters. All data has been presented analytically and graphically, and the system, on which the test was performed, has been described. By analysis of collected data insight was provided into the magnitude and behavior of measured parameters. Final results of the test show that fuel can be changed over faster manually than automatically. It is also showed that manual fuel change over is more demanding, and it takes more knowledge and caution

    Autonomous unmanned ships

Autonomni brodovi, odnosno “pametni brodovi”, jesu brodovi budućnosti. Autonomous ships or “smart ships”, are the ships of the future. They are designed to be able to sail without a crew, which would bring many advantages, such as reduced human damage, reduced costs and other advantages. Several projects such as the MUNIN and AWAA project have been worked on autonomous ships, since technology is very available today and it's believed that the use of artificial intelligence and sensors will contribute to overall development of shipping. The communication of autonomous ships would take place through satellites, such as Inmarsat and Iridium, and through terrestrial communications, which include VHF radio, MF/HF radio and 4G/5G network. In order for autonomous ships to become part of our everyday life must be adapted to legal regulations and norms. Although autonomous ships are envisioned as unmanned ships, they will be controlled by operators from the control center

This paper describes the responsibility of the carrier for damages to the cargo. The first part of the paper describes the basic concepts and characteristics that are essential in order for the transport to be realized. Attention is focused on the contract of carriage of goods by sea and the parts of it are dissected. The second part of the paper describes conventions, legal documents, their history and the way they regulate the carrier's responsibility for damages on the cargo today. In the further continuation of the work the focus is on the responsibility of the carrier. Several basic questions are asked and answered: What is damage, what is the responsibility of the carrier in relation to the type of damage, what are the unique characteristics of the responsibility that the carrier has when an exceptional case happens. The main conclusion of the paper is the significant importance of maritime transport and the needs of creating a new convention which is going to regulate it

Marine spatial planning in Croatia – legal and technical aspects

The introduction of marine spatial planning (hereafter: MSP) for Croatia is essential, considering the coastline length and the increasing usurpation of coastal and marine space. MSP is more than a process that regulates the activities on the sea. It is an analytical approach to the setup of human activities in the marine area. As a maritime country, Croatia has ratified the Protocol on Integrated Coastal Zone Management and undertook the obligations of the Barcelona Convention. However, an appropriate document has not yet been made that would enable quality management of marine space. MSP and its onshore version contribute to the establishment and development of various activities, taking into account environmental, natural, economic, and sociological criteria. MSP is a continuation of spatial planning of the mainland area and must undoubtedly consider the more expansive coastal environment and the activities there. One of the tools in marine area mapping is the Geographic Information System (GIS), which has proven to be a very high quality and effective tool, especially in decision-making processes. The authors analyze the existing legal framework for marine spatial planning. Particular emphasis is placed on the obligations facing the Republic of Croatia to implement marine spatial planning. Given that the paper seeks to determine the advantages of MSP implementation using modern tools in marine area mapping, the authors in the third part discuss the benefits of using GIS as an acceptable tool in mapping marine space and provide recommendations for further actions
