    Procedures of cargo acceptance and discharging from LNG ship on LNG terminal

    Tema koja će se obraditi u ovom završnom radu je Procedure prihvata te iskrcaja tereta sa LNG brodova na LNG terminalima. U prvome dijelu završnog rada će se analizirati sve procedure koje su važne za iskrcaj tereta odnosno što se sve mora napraviti prije nego se započne sa operacijom iskrcaja. Objasniti će se obilježja od dvije glavne vrste tankova na LNG brodu će se analizirati procedure iskrcaja LNG tereta. U drugome dijelu će se analizirati sve što je bitno napraviti i koja je oprema na LNG terminalu potrebna za prihvat tereta sa broda.The topic of this final paper is Procedures of cargo acceptance and discharging cargo from LNG ships on LNG terminals. In first part of the final paper will be analyzed all procedures which are important for discharging cargo from LNG ships. Also in this part will be analyzed characteristics of two main type of tanks and procedures of discharging LNG cargo from ship. In second part will be analyzed all important things which are important to do and which equipment is required for accepting cargo from ship

    U ovom diplomskom radu opisan je sustav niskonaponskih kopnenih priključka. Predstavljeni su tehničke karakteristike i opći zahtjevi koji se moraju zadovoljiti. Opisane su i prikazane komponente sustava (priključci, kabeli, pretvaračka oprema, instalacija na kopnu i instalacija na brodu). Obrađena je upotreba niskonaponskih kopnenih priključaka za punjenje automobila u luci prilikom čekanja trajekta, ekonomska isplativost, infrastruktura i tehnička rješenja. Nadalje prikazano je priključivanje i elektrifikacija ribarskih brodova na napajanje s kopna gdje su prikazano i analizirano korištene različitih priključaka. Također su opisane jahte i njihov utjecaj na niskonaponske kopnene priključke u marinama.This thesis describes the low-voltage shore connection system. The technical characteristics and general requirements that must be met are presented. The components of the system (connectors, cables, conversion equipment, shore installation, and ship installation) are described and illustrated. The use of low-voltage shore connections for charging cars in port while waiting for the ferry is covered, along with the economic feasibility, infrastructure, and technical solutions. Furthermore, the connection and electrification of fishing boats to shore power are presented, where the use of different types of connectors is shown and analysed. Yachts and their impact on low-voltage shore connections in marinas are also described

    VHF sustavi za razmjenu podataka igraju ključnu ulogu u pomorskoj industriji, pružajući brzu i pouzdanu komunikaciju između brodova i obalnih postaja. Kroz napredne tehnologije, poput AIS-a i Inmarsat-a, ovi sustavi omogućavaju dijeljenje vitalnih informacija, praćenja plovila i olakšavaju mjere protiv sudara. SOLAS-om propisani uređaji SART i EPIRB također imaju važnu funkciju u traženju brodova u nesreći te uvelike olakšavaju akcije traganja i spašavanja. Kroz stalna poboljšanja u tehnologiji i operativnim praksama, VHF sustavi za razmjenu podataka nastavljaju poboljšati sigurnost, učinkovitost i koordinaciju u pomorskom okruženju.VHF data exchange systems play a key role in the maritime industry, providing fast and reliable communication between ships and coastal stations. Through advanced technologies such as AIS and Inmarsat, these systems enable the sharing of vital information, vessel tracking, and facilitate anti-collision measures. SOLAS-mandated SART and EPIRB devices also have an important function in locating ships in distress and greatly facilitate search and rescue operations. Through ongoing improvements in technology and operational practices, VHF data exchange systems continue to enhance safety, efficiency, and coordination in the maritime environment

    This thesis explores the significance of container ports in global trade and their role in energy consumption, highlighting the need for sustainable energy solutions to mitigate environmental impacts. Initially, the thesis provides an overview of container ports, detailing their operations and energy consumption patterns. It discusses the environmental impacts of traditional energy sources, focusing on greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. Alternative energy technologies are then examined, including solar power, wind energy, ocean energy, thermal energy, and hydrogen fuel cells. The thesis evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of each technology to determine their feasibility and effectiveness. Implementation strategies are explored through a feasibility analysis, identifying challenges such as financial constraints, technological limitations, and regulatory hurdles. The economic and environmental implications are analyzed through a cost-benefit analysis, comparing the initial investments and long-term savings of alternative energy solutions. The potential reduction in carbon footprint and the benefits of long-term sustainability and resilience are also assessed. The conclusion summarizes the key findings, emphasizing the importance of alternative energy technologies in transforming container port operations.Ovaj rad istražuje značaj kontejnerskih luka u globalnoj trgovini i njihovu ulogu u potrošnji energije, ističući potrebu za održivim energetskim rješenjima kako bi se ublažili utjecaji na okoliš. U početku, rad pruža pregled kontejnerskih luka, detaljno opisuje njihove operacije i obrasce potrošnje energije. Raspravlja se o utjecajima tradicionalnih izvora energije na okoliš, s naglaskom na emisije stakleničkih plinova i zagađenje zraka. Zatim se ispituju alternativne energetske tehnologije, uključujući solarnu energiju, energiju vjetra, energiju oceana, termalnu energiju i vodikove gorivne ćelije. Rad ocjenjuje snage i slabosti svake tehnologije kako bi se utvrdila njihova izvedivost i učinkovitost. Strategije implementacije se istražuju kroz analizu izvedivosti, identificirajući izazove poput financijskih ograničenja, tehnoloških ograničenja i regulatornih prepreka. Ekonomski i okolišni učinci analiziraju se kroz analizu troškova i koristi, uspoređujući početna ulaganja i dugoročne uštede kroz alternativna energetska rješenja.     Hydraulic system of modern steering gear

    U ovom radu istražuju se hidraulični sustavi modernih kormilarskih uređaja. Cilj i zadaci rada bili su objasniti kako ovi sustavi rade i zašto su važni, kao i kako se primjenjuju pravila SOLAS konvencije. U dijelu Funkcija i podjela kormilarskih uređaja opisane su glavne vrste kormilarskih uređaja. Osnovne karakteristike hidrauličnih kormilarskih uređaja objašnjavaju kako ti sustavi funkcioniraju i koje su njihove prednosti. Posebno su obrađeni Hidraulični krilni kormilarski uređaj i Hidraulični klipni kormilarski uređaj, gdje je detaljno opisana njihova primjena i rad. Jedan od važnih dijelova rada je i Opis aksijalne klipne pumpe s nagibnim rotorom, koja je ključna za rad ovih sustava. Također su analizirani Pomoćni elementi kao što su filteri i sigurnosni ventili, koji su važni za siguran rad sustava. U dijelu Funkcija hidrauličnog fluida i Osnovna svojstva hidrauličnih fluida objašnjeno je zašto je hidraulični fluid bitan i kako njegovo stanje utječe na rad sustava. Zaključak rada ističe da su hidraulični sustavi modernih kormilarskih uređaja ključni za precizno i pouzdano upravljanje brodovima. Pravilno održavanje i poštivanje sigurnosnih standarda su neophodni za njihov dugotrajan rad.This paper explores the hydraulic systems of modern steering gear devices. The Goal and Objectives were to explain how these systems work and why they are important, as well as how the SOLAS convention rules apply. The section Function and Classification of Steering Gear Devices describes the main types of steering gear devices. Basic Characteristics of Hydraulic Steering Gear Devices explains how these systems function and their advantages. Special focus is given to the Hydraulic Vane Steering Gear Device and the Hydraulic Piston Steering Gear Device, detailing their applications and operations. An important part of the paper is the Description of the Axial Piston Pump with Tilting Rotor, which is crucial for the operation of these systems. II Additionally, Auxiliary Components such as filters and safety valves are analyzed, highlighting their importance for safe system operation. In the sections Function of Hydraulic Fluid and Basic Properties of Hydraulic Fluids, the significance of hydraulic fluid and how its condition affects system performance are explained. The conclusion emphasizes that hydraulic systems of modern steering gear devices are essential for precise and reliable ship maneuvering. Proper maintenance and adherence to safety standards are necessary for their long-term operation

    Assessment of the Position of North Adriatic Terminals in Container Market Based on Different Indices

    Background: This paper addresses the common question of how service providers compare to their competitors and what their competitive advantages are. It focuses on the North Adriatic ports of Trieste, Koper, Rijeka, Venice, and Ravenna, all members of the North Adriatic Ports Association, analyzing their position, size, competitiveness, and role in the container market. Methods: The research employs three distinct methods: market structure analysis using several concentration indices, the R method for ranking terminals, and aggregation of these indices to create a combined index for port performance. Results: Based on the rankings, indicators, the BCG matrix, and future development plans for each terminal, the ports are ranked as follows: Koper, Rijeka, Trieste, Venice, and Ravenna. Koper emerges as the leader, positioned in the high market share and strong growth category. This advantageous position allows Koper to efficiently attract traffic without requiring substantial investments. Conclusions: The contribution of the work is that the specific measure indices were applied, which were not used in the analysis of the North Adriatic container terminals until now. The research provides both a broad and detailed understanding of the position, role, and condition of each terminal. This insight enables stakeholders to take timely, strategic actions aimed at boosting productivity and traffic, ultimately improving their competitive standing

    Linear Trend Model in the Analysis of Ship Losses and Navigation Safety

    By researching the available statistical data of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) on total losses in shipping, the most common cause, ship sinking, was analyzed in the period from 2015 to 2020. The data are useful for qualitative and quantitative assessments, and indicate factors that cause unwanted events. The aim of this paper is to highlight the possibility of prediction, which is crucial for the assessment of risk and safety in shipping, by applying a statistical model in the analysis of losses in shipping. In the analysis and processing of the available databases, Excel was used, as part of the Microsoft Office software package, which enables statistical analysis and drawing graphs

    Assessing the Digital Transformation in the Maritime Transport Sector: A Case Study of Croatia

    In this research, the authors investigated the factors of digital transformation in the maritime transport sector, which were applied to the case study of Croatia. Since there is a pronounced lack of research dealing with the digital transformation factors in the maritime transport sector both globally and in Croatia, as a first step the authors identified the aforementioned factors using the literature review method and interviews. Moreover, the survey was carried out among a representative group of stakeholders involved in the maritime transport sector in Croatia, including administrative entities such as port authorities, ministries, and harbormaster’s offices, as well as commercial participants such as freight forwarders, agents, and terminal operators. The goal was to obtain the state of the art of digital transformation in the maritime transport sector. A total of 94 organizations provided valid responses. Finally, the authors proposed measures to improve the digital transformation in the maritime transport sector in Croatia. The results highlighted the importance of various digital transformation factors, such as information security, investment in emerging technologies, leadership motivation, and expertise. The case study presented serves as a valuable reference for comparable countries that recognize their resource constraints but aspire to enhance their efficiency and competitiveness

    Implementacija automatiziranog upravljanja prometom postala je nezamjenjiva za moderne gradove u rješavanju izazova kao što su zagušenja, sigurnost i smanjenje emisija. Sustav automatskog upravljanja prometom to postiže koristeći se naprednim tehnologijama kao što su inteligentni transportni sustavi (ITS) i Internet Stvari (IoT). Sustavi automatske kontrole olakšavaju optimizaciju prometa, povećavajući protok i smanjujući negativan utjecaj na okoliš. Naime, grad Rijeka u Hrvatskoj postao se kao pionir u postavljanju ovih sustava, obuhvaćene vitalne prometne zone i raskrižja kroz višefaznu inicijativu. Ovaj rad daje sveobuhvatan pregled tehnologija koje podupiru sustav automatskog upravljanja prometom. Detaljno se opisuje promet u Rijeci općenito i zašto je integracija sustava automatskog upravljanja prometom bitna za budućnost prometovanja.The implementation of automated traffic management has become indispensable for modern cities in solving challenges such as congestion, safety and emission reduction. Automatic traffic control systems achieve this by using advanced technologies such as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Internet of Things (IoT). Automatic control systems facilitate traffic optimization by increasing traffic flow and reducing negative environmental impact. Namely, the city of Rijeka in Croatia has become a pioneer in the installation of these systems, covering vital traffic zones and intersections through a multi- phase initiative. This thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the technologies that support the automatic traffic management system. The traffic in Rijeka in general is described in detail and why the integration of the automatic traffic management system is essential for the future of traffic

    Combating corruption in the maritime industry

    Korupcija u pomorstvu je složeni problem koji zahtijeva sustavan pristup u nalaženju rješenja za njezino suzbijanje. Ona u pomorstvu predstavlja društveno, financijsko i ekološko opterećenje za zajednicu. Pojavnosti korupcije u pomorstvu iziskuju napore javnog i privatnog sektora kako bi se pokušala obuzdati. U radu se analizira sam pojam korupcije i kako se dijeli. Opisuje se pravna regulativa koja nastoji spriječiti mogućnost pojave koruptivnih radnji kao i glavne svjetske organizacije koje sudjeluju u suzbijanju korupcije. Analizira se pomorska antikorupcijska mreža i poznati svjetski projekti koje je uspostavila kao dio kolektivne akcije koja se provodi u državama diljem svijeta. Nadalje, analizirani su alati koji se koriste pri prevenciji i pokušaju suzbijanja korupcije, te su opisani načini na koje se prikupljaju podaci, mjere razine korupcije kao brojčane vrijednosti i dodjeljuje razina mogućnosti susretanja s koruptivnim radnjama u svim državama svijeta.Maritime corruption is a problem that requires a complex approach to find its solution. Maritime corruption represents a social, financial and environmental burden on the community. Corruption today is a very widespread and well-known concept in the maritime industry, which requires the efforts of both the public and private sector to try and eliminate it. The paper analyzes the concept of corruption itself and how it is divided. It describes the legal regulations that try to prevent the possibility of the occurrence of corrupt acts, as the main world organizations that participate in the fight against corruption. It describes the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network and the world-famous projects it established as part of a collective action carried out in different countries around the world. Furthermore, the tools used in the prevention and attempt to suppress corruption are analyzed, as well as the ways in which data is collected, the measured level of corruption in numerical value and the assigned probability of corrupt practices in every country of the world
