The impact of maritime traffic on acidification and eutrophication of the northern part of the Adriatic sea
Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje utjecaj pomorskog prometa na acidifikaciju i eutrofikaciju sjevernog dijela Jadranskog mora. Proučeni su trenutni ekološki uvjeti u regiji, te se analiziraju obrasci prometa i poslovanja luka kroz potencijalne ekološke prijetnje kontinuiranog rasta prometa. Nadalje, istražuju se međunarodne, EU i hrvatske legislative, te se navode neka od trenutačno najučinkovitijih tehnoloških rješenja obrade sanitarnih otpadnih voda i emisija ispušnih plinova koje se primijenjuju na brodovima, a koje udovoljavaju zakonima za ublažavanje procesa acidifikacije i eutrofikacije. Kroz ove analize, istraživanje pruža sveobuhvatan pregled kompleksnog odnosa između pomorskih aktivnosti i ekološke održivosti u sjevernom dijelu Jadranskog mora.This master's thesis examines the effects of maritime traffic on the acidification and eutrophication of the northern part of the Adriatic Sea. It examines the current ecological conditions in the region and analyses traffic patterns and port operations in light of the potential ecological threats posed by continuous traffic growth. It also examines international, EU, and Croatian legislation and lists some of the most effective current technological solutions for wastewater treatment and exhaust emissions from ships that comply with legislation to mitigate the processes of acidification and eutrophication. Through these analyses, the study provides a comprehensive overview of the complex relationship between maritime activities and environmental sustainability in the northern Adriatic
RFID technology in the function of monitoring and identification of cargo in transport
Suvremeno poslovanje logističkih i dobavnih lanaca nezamislivo je bez primjene informacijske i komunikacijske tehnologije. Među različitim tehnologijama za analizu i komunikaciju, jedna se posebno ističe u označavanju proizvoda i prikupljanju podataka o njihovim tokovima. Riječ je o tehnologiji koja koristi radio-frekvencijsku identifikaciju, poznata kao RFID (engl. Radio Frequency Identification) tehnologija. RFID tehnologija koristi bežičnu mrežu bez kontaktnog sustava koji upotrebljava radio-frekvencijska elektromagnetska polja za prijenos podataka, omogućujući automatsku identifikaciju i praćenje proizvoda. RFID tehnologija ima široku primjenu u upravljanju skladištem, zalihama, prijevozu tereta, proizvodnji i maloprodaji. Implementacija RFID tehnologije u proizvodnom procesu, transportu, skladištu i maloprodaji ima značajnu ulogu u brzini prenošenju informacija i podataka, ali kao kod svake tehnologije postoji mogućnost njena razvoja i unaprjeđenja u svim navedenim segmentima primjene. Tvrtka DHL je prepoznala prednosti RFID tehnologije koje pomažu u organiziranju i konkurentnom poslovanju same tvrtke.Modern operation of logistics and supply chains is unthinkable without the application of information and communication technology. Among the various technologies for analysis and communication, one stands out in particular in the labelling of products and the collection of data about their flows. It is a technology that uses radio-frequency identification, known as RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. RFID technology uses a wireless network of a contactless system that uses radio frequency electromagnetic fields to transmit data, enabling automatic product identification and tracking. RFID technology is widely used in warehouse management, inventory, freight transportation, production and retail. The implementation of RFID technology in the production process, transport, warehouse and retail has a significant role in the speed of information and data transfer, but as with any technology, there is a possibility of its development and improvement in all mentioned application segments. The DHL company has recognized the advantages of RFID technology, which help in organizing and competitive business of the company itself
Transportation of bulk cargo by sea
Prijevoz rasutog tereta morem ekonomičan je i najzastupljeniji oblik prijevoza ogromnih količina tereta morem. Teret se krca u brodska skladišta u specijaliziranim brodovima. Najčešće se prevozi jedna vrsta tereta, odnosno homogeni teret. Povećanjem flota specijalnih brodova, povećava se mogućnost havarija na moru. Iz tog razloga postoje skupovi zakona, konvencija i kodeksa te je time povećana sigurnost na moru.Carriage of bulk cargo by sea is an economical and the most common form of transport of huge quantities of cargo by sea. Cargo is loaded into ship warehouses in specialized ships. Most often, one type of cargo is transported, i.e. homogeneous cargo. By increasing the fleets of special ships, the possibility of accidents at sea increases. For this reason, there are sets of laws, conventions and codes, thereby increasing safety at sea
Optimization of delivery vehicle routes: A case study of the city of Rijeka
U ovom diplomskom radu analizirana je učinkovitost različitih algoritama za optimizaciju ruta dostavnih vozila u urbanim sredinama, s posebnim naglaskom na prometne uvjete u gradu Rijeci. Prometne gužve i sve veći broj dostavnih vozila u gradskim jezgrama predstavljaju ozbiljan problem koji zahtijeva efikasna rješenja. U radu su analizirani jednostavni algoritam, pohlepni algoritam i algoritam afričkog bizona, s ciljem utvrđivanja njihove učinkovitosti u optimizaciji ruta u stvarnim uvjetima. Algoritam afričkog bizona se pokazao kao najučinkovitiji, posebno u složenim scenarijima s većim brojem dostavnih vozila. U radu su također razmatrana ograničenja algoritama te moguće prilagodbe i poboljšanja.This thesis analyses the efficiency of various algorithms for optimizing delivery vehicle routes in urban areas, with a particular focus on traffic conditions in the city of Rijeka. Traffic congestion and the increasing number of delivery vehicles in city centres pose serious challenges that require efficient solutions. The study examines a simple algorithm, a greedy algorithm and an African Buffalo algorithm to determine their effectiveness in route optimization under real-world conditions. The African Buffalo algorithm proved to be the most efficient, especially in complex scenarios involving a larger number of delivery vehicles. The thesis also discusses the limitations of the algorithms and potential adaptations and improvements
Success criteria for Motorways of the Sea
Rad se bavi modelom Short Sea Shippinga, s posebnim naglaskom na koncept Pomorskih prometnica te kriterije njegove uspješnosti. Cilj rada je definirati i razumjeti ključne aspekte pomorskog prijevoza te analizirati europske kriterije za ocjenu uspješnosti pomorskih prometnica. Kroz analizu različitih oblika transporta - cestovnog, željezničkog i pomorskog, rad ističe važnost tranzicije prema održivijim i ekološki prihvatljivijim modelima prijevoza, pri čemu Short Sea Shipping ima ključnu ulogu. Također se obrađuju politike i strategije Europske unije poput zajedničke prometne politike i transeuropske mreže, koje definiraju smjernice za razvoj prometne infrastrukture. Detaljno su prikazane prednosti, nedostaci i karakteristike SSS-a, te izazovi i prepreke s kojima se ovaj oblik prijevoza suočava. Rad uključuje i studiju slučaja linije Civitavecchia - Barcelona, kroz koju se praktično ocjenjuje uspješnost ovog prometnog koncepta u stvarnim uvjetima.The paper addresses the Short Sea Shipping model, with a particular focus on the concept of Motorways of the Sea and the criteria for its success. The aim of the paper is to define and understand the key aspects of maritime transport and to analyze European criteria for evaluating the success of Motorways of the Sea. Through the analysis of different modes of transport – road, rail, and maritime – the paper highlights the importance of transitioning towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation models, where Short Sea Shipping plays a crucial role. The paper also examines European Union policies and strategies such as the Common Transport Policy and the Trans-European Network, which define guidelines for the development of transport infrastructure. The advantages, disadvantages, and characteristics of Short Sea Shipping (SSS) are presented in detail, as well as the challenges and obstacles faced by this mode of transport. The paper includes a case study of the Civitavecchia-Barcelona route, through which the success of this transport concept is practically evaluated in real-world conditions
Integration of speech recognition and synthesis models in Croatian language for textual interaction in video games and educational simulators
Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje implementaciju sustava za glasovnu interakciju u videoigrama i obrazovnim simulatorima, koristeći napredne tehnologije umjetne inteligencije. Cilj rada je omogućiti prirodnu i intuitivnu komunikaciju između korisnika i igre u stvarnom vremenu pomoću sustava za prepoznavanje govora, obradu prirodnog jezika i sintezu govora. Za potrebe rada korišteni su modeli tvrtki OpenAI i ElevenLabs, koji su integrirani u Unreal Engine 5. Istraživanje također obuhvaća analizu izazova i ograničenja u primjeni ovih tehnologija, kao i njihove prednosti u poboljšanju korisničkog iskustva, u kontekstu obrazovnih simulatora i videoigara.This thesis explores the implementation of voice interaction systems in video games and educational simulators using advanced artificial intelligence technologies. The goal of this thesis is to enable natural communication between the user and the game through real-time speech recognition, natural language processing, and speech synthesis. For this purpose, models from OpenAI and ElevenLabs were used, which were integrated using Unreal Engine 5. The research also includes an analysis of the challenges and limitations in applying these technologies, as well as their advantages in enhancing user experience, particularly in the context of educational simulators and video games

An analysis of tuna farming methods with special reference to bluefin tuna
Tune, zbog svoje visoke komercijalne vrijednosti, posebice na tržištima sashimija i sushija, spadaju među najcjenjenije vrste riba. Međutim, uzgoj tune predstavlja iznimno složen i izazovan proces zbog brojnih ekoloških, tehnoloških i logističkih prepreka. Trenutno se uzgoj uvelike oslanja na tov divljih tuna, što povećava pritisak na prirodne resurse, te se istražuju nove metode koje bi mogle omogućiti održivu proizvodnju u kontroliranim uvjetima. Ovaj rad pruža sveobuhvatan pregled glavnih tržišnih vrsta tuna i analizira stanje njihovih stokova u svijetu. Poseban naglasak stavljen je na metode uzgoja s analizom njihovih prednosti i nedostataka. Problemi, poput mrijesta matičnih jata u zatočeništvu te visoke smrtnosti mlađi u mrijestilištima, identificirani su kao ključne prepreke za daljnji razvoj. Također, rad naglašava važnost suradnje između akademske zajednice, industrije i vlade u cilju postizanja komercijalne održivosti sektora. Kroz SWOT analizu ocijenjena je metoda zatvorenog ciklusa uzgoja plavoperajne tune. Rad sintetizira glavne izazove, ističući ključnu ulogu strateškog planiranja i tehnoloških inovacija za daljnji napredak u ovom području, podržavajući rastuću globalnu potražnju za visokokvalitetnom morskom hranom uz očuvanje divljih populacija tuna.Tuna, due to its high commercial value, especially in sashimi and sushi markets, is among the most prized fish species. However, tuna farming presents an extremely complex and challenging process due to numerous ecological, technological, and logistical obstacles. Currently, tuna farming heavily relies on the fattening of wild tuna, which increases pressure on natural resources, while new methods are being explored to enable sustainable production in controlled environments. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the main market species of tuna and analyzes the state of their stocks worldwide. Special emphasis is placed on farming methods, with an analysis of their advantages and disadvantages. Issues such as broodstock spawning in captivity and high mortality rates of fry in hatcheries have been identified as key obstacles to further development. Additionally, the paper highlights the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and government to achieve commercial sustainability in the sector. The closed-cycle bluefin tuna farming method is evaluated using SWOT analysis. The paper synthesizes the main challenges, emphasizing the critical role of strategic planning and technological innovations for further progress in this field, supporting the growing global demand for high-quality seafood while preserving wild tuna populations
Role of International Maritime Organization (IMO) in international maritime safety system
U ovom radu je istražena uloga koju Međunarodna pomorska organizacija ima u razvoju i primjeni međunarodnog sustava pomorske sigurnosti. Rad započinje pregledom nastanka, funkcija i ciljeva IMO-a, te je uz to pobliže opisana struktura Organizacije, uključujući sve njene odbore i pododbore. Rad istražuje zakonodavne procese IMO-a i kako odnosno u kojoj mjeri su nacionalni propisi usklađeni s međunarodnim instrumentima. Posebna pozornost je dana Kodeksu implementacije instrumenata IMO-a (III) i shemi prosudbe država članica Organizacije (IMSAS) iz razloga što se njima izravno osigurava usklađenost među državama članicama. Osim toga, rad nastoji povezati i analizirati uloge država zastave, priznatih organizacija, inspekcijskog nadzora stranih brodova od strane države luke, brodarskih kompanija i nevladinih organizacija, a sve to s naglaskom na njihov zajednički doprinos globalnoj pomorskoj sigurnosti i zaštiti okoliša.This paper explores the role which the International Maritime Organization fulfills in the processes of development and implementation of the international maritime safety system. The paper begins with an overview of the origin, functions and goals of the IMO, along with a detailed description of its structure, including all its committees and subcommittees. The paper examines the IMO’s legislative processes and how and to what extent, are national regulations harmonized with international instruments. Special attention is given to the IMO Instruments Implementation Code (III) and the IMO member state audit scheme (IMSAS) as they directly ensure compliance among member states. Furthermore, the thesis seeks to connect and analyze the roles of flag states, recognized organizations, port state control, shipping companies and non-governmental organizations with an emphasis on their collective contribution to global maritime safety and environmental protection
Maritime accidents analysis on passenger sips
U završnome radu provela se analiza nastanka pomorskih nesreća na putničkim brodovima. Dati će se osvrt na nezgode putničkih brodova,uzroke pojava pomorskih nezgoda, poput potonuća, nasukanja, sudara, požara i eksplozije. Dok će se u trećem poglavlju opisati mjere i standardi koje su donijele službene organizacije kao odgovor na destruktivne posljedice gubitka ljudskih života, oštećenja imovine ili zagađenja morskog okoliša, te će se u četvrtom poglavlju opisati promjene najvažnijih konvencija u vezi s putničkim brodovima koje nastaju kao rezultat i posljedica nezgoda. Posljednje poglavlje ovoga rada fokusirat će se na analizu odabranih pomorskih nezgoda.In this paper there will be an analysis of passenger ship accidents. There will be an overview of passenger ship accidents, the causes of maritime accidents, such as sinking, stranding, collision, fire and explosion. While the third chapter will describe the measures and standards adopted by official organizations in response to the destructive consequences of loss of human life, damage to property or pollution of the marine environment, and the fourth chapter will describe the changes in the most important conventions regarding passenger ships that arise as a result and consequence of accidents. The last chapter of this paper will focus on the analysis of selected maritime accidents
