    The Relationship between Temperament, Screen Time and Psychological Adjusment i in Preschoolers

    Ovo se istraživanje bavi analiziranjem trenutnih trendova izloženosti ekranima te razumijevanjem odnosa između temperamenta, izloženosti ekranima te psihološke prilagodbe kod predškolaca. Uzorak je prigodan te uključuje procjene 115 majki predškolske djece na području grada Zagreba. Analiza deskriptivnih podataka ukazuje kako dječja izloženost ekranima generalno ne prelazi preporučene smjernice Američke akademije za dječju i adolescentsku psihijatriju. Nadalje, utvrđeno je kako su djeca najviše izložena mobitelima i televiziji pa tri do četiri puta tjedno gledaju dječje crtane serije, dok jednom do dva puta tjedno gledaju dječje edukativne i glazbene emisije, animirane filmove za djecu te videozapise na YouTube-u i YouTube kids-u. Navedeno je u skladu s nalazima da su djeca ponekad do često izložena prosocijalnim sadržajima u medijima, dok rijetko ili nikad ne gledaju nasilne sadržaje. Analiza korelacija otkriva kako dimenzija Impulzivnosti značajno pozitivno i visoko korelira s eksternaliziranim problemima, dok negativno slabo i značajno korelira s prosocijalnim ponašanjem. Eksternalizirani problemi u ponašanju značajno umjereno i pozitivno koreliraju i s dimenzijom Aktivnosti, dok su značajno slabo i pozitivno povezani s dimenzijom Emocionalnosti te vremenskom izloženosti tijekom vikenda. S druge strane, prosocijalno je ponašanje značajno slabo i negativno povezano s vremenskom izloženosti tijekom vikenda. Moderatorskom analizom utvrđeno je kako izloženost ekranima preko vikenda značajno mijenja odnos Impulzivnosti i eksternaliziranih problema u ponašanju tako da duljom izloženosti, slabi povezanost Impulzivnosti i eksternaliziranih problema u ponašanju. Nadalje, utvrđeno je kako duljina izloženosti ekranima tijekom vikenda moderira odnos Aktivnosti i eksternaliziranih problema u ponašanju tako da duljom izloženosti pada povezanost Aktivnosti i eksternaliziranih problema u ponašanju predškolaca, dok ne moderira odnos Emocionalnosti i eksternaliziranih problema u ponašanju. Za kraj, utvrđeno je kako vremenska izloženost ekranima tijekom vikenda značajno moderira odnos Impulzivnosti i prosocijalnog ponašanja pa duljom izloženosti slabi povezanost Impulzivnosti i prosocijalnog ponašanja. Istraživanje produbljuje znanje o postojećim odnosima trajnih karakteristika (dimenzija temperamenta) te socijalnih utjecaja (izloženost ekranima) na eksternalizirane i internalizirane probleme u ponašanju te prosocijalno ponašanje kod predškolaca prema procjenama majki.This study analyzes current trends in screen time and gives deeper understanding of the relationship between temperament, screen time, and psychological adjustment in preschoolers. The sample is convenient and includes assessments of 115 mothers of preschool children in Zagreb. Descriptive data analysis indicates that children's screen time generally does not exceed the recommended guidelines of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Furthermore, it was found that children mostly use mobile phones and TV to watch children's cartoons three to four times a week or children's educational and music shows, animated films for children, and videos on YouTube and YouTube Kids once or twice a week. Results are in line with the findings that children are sometimes to often exposed to prosocial content in the media, while they rarely or never watch violent content. Correlation analysis reveals that the Impulsivity is significantly positively and highly correlated with externalizing problems, while negatively and weakly correlated with prosocial behavior. Externalized behavior problems are significantly moderately and positively correlated with the Activity, while they are significantly weakly and positively correlated with the Emotionality and time exposure during the weekend. On the other hand, prosocial behavior is significantly weakly and negatively correlated with screen time during the weekend. Moderator analysis determined that screen time during the weekend significantly changes the relationship between Impulsivity and externalized behavior problems in such a way that longer exposure weakens correlation between Impulsivity and externalized behavior problems. Furthermore, it was determined that the screen time during the weekend moderates the relationship between Activity and externalized behavior problems in such a way that the longer exposure lowers the correlation between Activity and externalized behavior problems in preschoolers' behavior, while does not moderate relationship between Emotionality and externalized behavior problems. Finally, it was determined that screen time during the weekend significantly moderates the relationship between Impulsivity and prosocial behavior, so with longer exposure correlation between Impulsivity and prosocial behavior weakens. The research deepens the knowledge about existing relationships of permanent characteristics (temperament dimension) and social influences (exposure to screens) on externalized and internalized behavior problems and prosocial behavior in preschoolers according to mothers' assessments

    Six-Day War and the suspension of Yugoslav-Israeli diplomatic relations

    Arapsko-židovski, a kasnije i arapsko-izraelski sukobi započeli su već početkom 20. stoljeća. Međutim, situacija na Bliskom istoku značajno se zaoštrila stvaranjem Države Izrael 1948. godine. U tim sukobima neposredno je sudjelovala i Jugoslavija koja je od 1945. do 1949. godine bila iznimno staljinistička država, ali je nakon sukoba Tito-Staljin započela s razvojem još samostalnije unutarnje i vanjske politike. Jugoslavija je ubrzo usvojila vanjskopolitički koncept politike nesvrstanosti i afirmirala se kao jedna od vodećih nositelja Pokreta nesvrstanih. Pokret u kojemu je sudjelovao značajan broj arapskih država redefinirao je jugoslavenski pristup krizama na Bliskom istoku. Jugoslavija se tijekom Šestodnevnog rata iz 1967. godine aktivno angažirala u pomoći arapskim državama, istovremeno osuđujući izraelski napad. Također, Jugoslavija je tijekom Šestodnevnog rata gradila sve čvršće veze s državama Varšavskog pakta i nerijetko dolazila u sukobe sa zapadnim silama. Jugoslavenska vlada svoju agresivnu retoriku prema Zapadu naposljetku je ublažila, ali Šestodnevni rat rezultirao je prekidom jugoslavensko-izraelskih diplomatskih odnosa. Osim prekida diplomatskih odnosa koji nisu obnovljeni sve do raspada Jugoslavije, jugoslavenska vanjskopolitička aktivnost za vrijeme i nakon Šestodnevnog rata dovela je i do određenih unutarnjopolitičkih sukoba u vrhu Saveza komunista Jugoslavije.The Arab-Jewish and later Arab-Israeli disputes began in the early twentieth century. However, the situation in the Middle East intensified significantly with the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. Yugoslavia also played a immediate role in these conflicts, since it was an extremely Stalinist state from 1945 to 1949. However, with the Tito-Stalin break, Yugoslavia began to pursue a more independent domestic and foreign strategy. Yugoslavia swiftly adopted the non-alignment foreign policy concept and established itself as one of the leading members of the Non-Aligned Movement. The Movement, which included a considerable number of Arab states, altered Yugoslavia's response to Middle East issues. During the 1967 Six-Day War, Yugoslavia actively supported the Arab states while condemning the Israeli attack. Furthermore, Yugoslavia was strengthening its connections with the Warsaw Pact countries while frequently clashing with Western powers. The Yugoslav government eventually softened its aggressive rhetoric toward the West, but the Six-Day War ended diplomatic relations between Yugoslavia and Israel. Aside from the break in diplomatic relations, which were not restored until Yugoslavia's breakdown, Yugoslav foreign policy activities during and after the Six-Day War resulted in internal political conflicts within the League of Communists of Yugoslavia's leadership

    Predicting xenophobia among students from their values, self-esteem and the dark triad

    Cilj ovoga istraživanja bio je provjeriti odnose samopoštovanja, mračne trijade i osobnih vrijednosti sa ksenofobijom te provjeriti mogućnost predviĎanja pojave ksenofobije na temelju opisanih konstrukata. Istraživanje je provedeno na daljinu (online) i u njemu je sudjelovalo 199 studenata Sveučilišta u Zagrebu različitih sastavnica s područja cijele Hrvatske, od kojih je 152 ženskoga spola. Sudionici su prikupljeni s pomoću društvenih mreža i popisa primatelja (mailing lista), na kojima je bila podijeljena poveznica do upitnika. Kao mjera ksenofobije korišten je upitnik ksenofobije, kao skala samopoštovanja korištena je Rosenbergova skala samopoštovanja, kao mjera osobnih vrijednosti korišten je prikaz osobnih vrijednosti, a kao mjera mračne trijade korišten je kratki upitnik mračne trijade. Rezultati su pokazali pozitivnu povezanost mračne trijade i ksenofobije, kao i vrijednosti konformizma i tradicije sa ksenofobijom. Negativna povezanost pronaĎena je izmeĎu univerzalizma i ksenofobije. Samopoštovanje i vrijednost dobrohotnosti i sigurnosti nisu bile povezane sa ksenofobijom. Istraživanjem je utvrĎeno da su makijavelizam te vrijednosti univerzalizma i tradicije prediktori ksenofobije. Regresijskom analizom samopoštovanja, mračne trijade i osobnih vrijednosti univerzalizma, dobrohotnosti, tradicije, konformizma i sigurnosti kao prediktora ksenofobije, pokazalo se da je najizraženiji prediktor osobna vrijednost tradicije i univerzalizma uz makijavelizam od mračne trijade.The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of self-esteem, the dark triad and personal values with xenophobia and to examine the possibility of predicting the occurrence of xenophobia based on the described constructs. The study was conducted online, and a sample of 199 students from all over Croatia attending the University of Zagreb’s various departments participated in it, of which 152 were female. Participants were collected with the help of social networks and mailing lists, where a link to the questionnaire was distributed. The following instruments were used: Xenophobia scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Short Dark Triad scale and Portrait values questionnaire. The results showed a positive correlation between the dark triad and xenophobia, as well as the values of conformity and tradition with xenophobia. A negative correlation was found between universalism and xenophobia. Self-esteem and the values of benevolence and security were not related to xenophobia. This paper found that machiavellianism and the values of universalism and tradition are predictors of xenophobia. The regression analysis of self-esteem, the dark triad and personal values: universalism, benevolence, tradition, conformity and security as predictors of xenophobia, showed that the most pronounced predictor is, tradition along with universalism and machiavellianism

    Tema je ovoga rada nastanak i razvoj Europske unije te njezin utjecaj na države cijele Europe. Europska je unija jedinstvena ekonomska i politička zajednica 27 europskih zemalja. Ona predstavlja nadnacionalno partnerstvo koje objedinjuje mnoštvo različitih nacija i kultura. U ovom teorijskom radu predstavljaju se i analiziraju ekonomski, politički, društveni i kulturološki čimbenici koji postepeno oblikuju izgled Europe te u velikoj mjeri utječu na njenu budućnost. U ovom se radu proučava i na koji način i u kojoj mjeri Europska unija utječe na države članice, kao i na ostatak europskih zemalja.The topic of this paper is the origin and development of the European Union over the years and its influence on the countries of Europe. The European Union is a unique economic and political community of 27 European countries. It represents a supranational partnership that unites many different nations and cultures. In this theoretical work, the economic, political, social and cultural factors that gradually shape the appearance of Europe and greatly influence its future are being associated. This paper studies how and to what extent the European Union influences its member states, as well as the rest of the European countries

    Spomenik gastarbajterima: Kako je Mercedes postao simbol identiteta grada Imotskog?

    U Imotskom je postavljen spomenik Mercedesu kao simbol ovjekovječenja njegove uloge u razvoju, statusu i identitetu Imoćana. Prvenstveno je to zahvala gastarbajterima i njihovom društvenom i ekonomskom doprinosu u razvoju grada Imotskog. Spomenik je izrađen u kamenu i replika je Mercedesove 115-ice modela iz 70-tih godina prošlog stoljeća. Kako je imotska krajina tradicionalno iseljeničko područje u radu ćemo obraditi razdoblje iseljavanja Imoćana u Njemačku kako bi oslikali društveno-povijesni kontekst tog vremena odnosno povezivanja i utjecaja dvaju društvenih prostora (iseljavanja i useljavanja, odlazaka i vraćanja) i uloge koji je u tim prostorima i životima Imoćana imao Mercedes. Prvi zarađeni novac Imoćani-gastarbajteri su uložili u kupovinu Mercedesa i vraćali se njime kući kako bi pokazali svoj status i uspjeh. Danas je grad Imotski grad s najvećim brojem Mercedesa po glavi stanovnika i još uvijek ima veliku i nezamjenjivu ulogu u njihovoj svakodnevnici. U radu ćemo na osnovi povijesnih izvora, kvalitativne metodologije (dubinskih intervjua) istražiti ulogu i značenje Mercedesa šezdesetih, sedamdesetih godina prošlog stoljeća i danas pokazujući kulturno-ekonomske aspekte i specifičnosti razvoja ove zajednice.A monument to Mercedes was erected in Imotski as a symbol of perpetuating its role in the development, status and identity of the people of Imotski. It is primarily a thank you to the guest workers and their social and economic contribution to the development of the city of Imotski. As the Imotski region is a traditional emigrant area, in this paper we will cover the period of emigration of the people of Imotski to Germany in order to depict the socio-historical context of that time, i.e. the connection and influence of two social spaces (emigration and immigration, departures and returns) and the role it plays in these spaces and lives of people in Imotski Mercedes had. Today, the city of Imotski is the city with the largest number of Mercedes per capita and still plays a large and irreplaceable role in their daily life. In this paper, based on historical sources, qualitative methodology (in-depth interviews), we will investigate the role and meaning of Mercedes in the sixties, seventies of the last century and today, showing the cultural and economic aspects and specifics of the development of this community

    Radio je kao medij od samih početaka do danas prošao kroz brojne izazove, od razvoja televizije do pojave interneta. U povijesnom pregledu razvoja radija vidljiva je njegova prilagodljiva narav. Uvođenje digitalizacije i interneta u drugoj polovini 20. stoljeća transformiralo je radio u participativni medij, nudeći nove formate poput podcasta i radija na zahtjev. Inovacije u radijskoj tehnologiji značajno su transformirale tradicionalno radijsko emitiranje. Digitalizacija i razvoj interneta omogućili su pojavu streaminga i podcasta, koji su promijenili način na koji slušatelji konzumiraju sadržaj. Streaming platforme omogućuju slušanje radijskih programa u realnom vremenu s bilo kojeg mjesta, bez potrebe za tradicionalnim radijskim prijamnikom, dok podcast nudi fleksibilnost slušanja emisija na zahtjev. Ove inovacije potaknule su tradicionalne radijske stanice na prilagodbu kroz digitalizaciju, stvaranje vlastitih podcast sadržaja i integraciju s online platformama. Iako su streaming i podcasti smanjili dominaciju tradicionalnoga radija, omogućili su mu i da doseže novu publiku kroz različite digitalne kanale.Radio as a medium has faced numerous challenges from its beginnings to the present day, from the development of television to the emergence of the internet. Through a historical overview of radio, we gain insight into its adaptable nature. The introduction of digitalization and the internet in the second half of the 20th century transformed radio into a participatory medium, offering new formats such as podcasts and on-demand radio. Innovations in radio technology have significantly transformed traditional radio broadcasting. Digitalization and the development of the internet have enabled the rise of streaming and podcasts, which have changed the way listeners consume content. Streaming platforms allow for real-time listening to radio programs from anywhere, without the need for a traditional radio receiver, while podcasts offer the flexibility of on-demand listening to shows. These innovations have prompted traditional radio stations to adapt through digitalization, the creation of their own podcast content, and integration with online platforms. Although streaming and podcasts have reduced the dominance of traditional radio, they have also allowed it to reach new audiences through various digital channels

    Hrvatski jezik prepun je riječi koje potječu iz drugih stranih jezika i koje cjelokupno hrvatsko stanovništvo koristi na različitim poljima znanosti, tehnologije, ekonomije, politike, gospodarstva, kulinarstva, ali i u svakodnevnome govoru. Hrvatska je tijekom povijesti bila dijelom brojnih saveza i monarhija te je bila u doticaju i izravnom kontaktu s državama iz čijih su jezika u hrvatski jezični sustav preuzete riječi koje se koriste i danas. Postoji mnogo razloga zašto se neka strana riječ posuđuje i mnogo načina na koje strana riječ jezika davatelja ulazi u jezik primatelj. Ona može ući izravno ili neizravno preko jezika posrednika te se prilagođava jeziku primatelju kako bi bila razumljiva. Različiti uzrasti koriste posuđenice različitoga podrijetla, pa tako starija populacija više koristi turcizme, dok mladi neprestano rabe anglizme. Od riječi stranoga podrijetla razlikujemo prevedenice, tuđice i posuđenice, a najčešće posuđenice u hrvatskom jeziku su latinizmi, turcizmi, germanizmi, turcizmi, hungarizmi, talijanizmi, rusizmi i anglizmi. Za većinu stranih riječi, a pogotovo anglizama, postoji ekvivalentna zamjena u hrvatskom jeziku kojoj bi se trebala dati prednost, iako su se neke posuđenice toliko integrirale u hrvatski jezik da ih malo tko percipira kao riječi stranoga podrijetla.The Croatian language is full of words that originate from other foreign languages, which the entire Croatian population uses across various fields of science, technology, economics, politics, commerce, cuisine, and even in everyday speech. Throughout history, Croatia has been part of numerous alliances and monarchies, and it has come into contact and direct interaction with countries from which words have been adopted into the Croatian language system, words that are still in use today. There are many reasons why a foreign word is borrowed and many ways in which a word from the donor language enters the recipient language. It can be borrowed directly or indirectly through an intermediary language and is adapted to the recipient language to make it understandable. Different age groups use loanwords of different origins, with the older population more frequently using Turkish loanwords, while the younger generation constantly uses Anglicisms. Words of foreign origin can be categorized as calques, loanwords, or borrowings, with the most common borrowings in the Croatian language being Latinisms, Turkisms, Germanisms, Hungarianisms, Italianisms, Russianisms, and Anglicisms. For most foreign words, especially Anglicisms, there is an equivalent substitute in the Croatian language that should be given preference, although some loanwords have become so integrated into Croatian that few people perceive them as foreign words

    O vizualnom identitetu i brandingu svi u potrošačkom društvu ponešto znamo, s obzirom da se sa brendovima i njihovom prezentacijom suočavamo svakodnevno. No ipak, kada govorimo o vizualnoj prezentaciji proizvoda, usluga i tvrtki često se pojmovi vizualni identitet i brend koriste u istom kontekstu, kao sinonimi. Razlog tomu je što mnoge definicije brenda poistovjećuju brend s vizualnim elementima grafičkog dizajna, odnosno izjednačuju pojam brenda s njegovim vizualnim identitetom. Svojevrsno se to događa iz razloga što je vizualni identitet zapravo glavni aspekt brenda, jer je upravo on onaj koji mu omogućuje da iskače od drugih; omogućuje mu visoku razinu prepoznatljivosti među konzumentima i korisnicima. To je izrazito bitna stavka na današnjem preplavljenom i nezasitnom tržištu; ljudi moraju nekako saznati za Vas i za ono što Vi nudite kako bih se uopće mogli probiti na police prodajnih mjesta i ostvariti visoku pozicioniranost na tržištu proizvoda i usluga. Najvažniji dio u tome cijelom procesu nastanka i opstanka je upravo sama prezentacija; njen dizajn, logo i priča moraju ostati trajno usađeni u misli potrošača kako bi postigli pravi učinak. Morate ostaviti dobar dojam! Ono što je na kraju tu presudno je ipak sami „dojam o brendu“ (engl. „brand equity), mišljenje koje ljudi imaju o Vašoj kompaniji, brendu i proizvodima/uslugama. Koliko je bitna dobra prezentacija, toliko i dobra reputacija. Želite ispunjavati kriterije koje ste sami zadali, držati se one priče koju ste sami kreirali, te biti konzistentni i koherentni u tim stavkama kroz cijelo vrijeme kako bi Vas publika zavoljela i ostala Vam u potpunosti odana.Everyone in the consumer society knows something about visual identity and branding, given that we deal with brands and their presentation on a daily basis. However, when we talk about the visual presentation of products, services and companies, the terms visual identity and brand are often used in the same context, as synonyms. The reason for this is that many brand definitions equate the brand with the visual elements of graphic design, that is, they equate the term brand with its visual identity.That usually happens because the visual identity is actually the main aspect of the brand, because it is the one that allows it to stand out from the others; enables it to have a high level of recognition among consumers and users. This is an extremely important item in today's flooded and insatiable market; people must somehow find out about you and what you offer in order to be able to break through to the shelves of retail outlets and achieve a high position on the market of products and services. The most important part in this entire process of creation and survival is the presentation itself; its design, logo and story must remain permanently embedded in the consumer's mind in order to achieve the right effect. You have to make a good impression! In the end, what is crucial is the "brand equity" itself, the opinion that people have about your company, brand and products/services. A good presentation is as important as a good reputation. You want to fulfill the criteria you set yourself, stick to the story you created yourself, and be consistent and coherent in these items throughout the entire time so that the audience will love you and remain completely loyal to you
