Criminal procedure in absentia: problems arising from newest court practices
The article analyses legal sphere, that has a lack of
proper attention of the scholars – criminal proceedings in
the absence of the accused or in other words – procedure in
absentia. This is a specific form of criminal proceedings, but
it’s practical application and influence into the principles of
criminal procedure law and practice is usually unappreciable.
Lately it has begun to discuss about the couple of the institutes
of criminal procedure branch – proceedings in absentia
and exclusion of criminal matters in the first instance courts,
its differences and meaning for the procedural guarantees
of criminal participants, current procedural principles and,
it should be emphasised – the function of defence in the
proceedings and its tactics. The authors of this contribution
underline the brand-new judicial practice that let us to know
the Lithuanian higher courts more and more find mistakes while lower courts examining questions regarding exclusions
of criminal matters while the defendant avoids attending the
court sessions. The judicial practice of Lithuanian Court of
Appeal shows, the lower courts are still not dare to apply the
rules of proceedings in absentia, not always (to narrow) properly
and correctly interpret the legal provisions of procedure
in absentia. And this situation makes preconditions to hinder
the aim of criminal proceedings, set in the Article 1 of Code
Criminal Procedure, as well as limit procedural guarantees
and finally – push defense lawyer into the stalemate due to the
lack of mutual coordination of defendant‘s defense position.
Authors present and analyse brand new judicial practice,
finally make conclusions
Relationships between Risky Driving and Psychopathy Traits
CC BYBackground: Despite all efforts to ensure road safety, road deaths rank eighth in the world. More
than 3,500 people die on the world's roads every day, almost 1.3 million. avoided deaths and
around 50 million injuries annually.
Aim of the Study: The aim of the study was to investigate the links between risky driving and
psychopathic traits.
Materials and Methods: 257 drivers participated, ranged from 18 to 66 years. A multivariate
linear regression analysis was performed to determine if psychopathy predicts risky driving.
Methods used in the study: the Driving Behavior Questionnaire to measure risky driving and the
Triarchial Psychopathic Measures Questionnaire to measure psychopathic traits.
Results: Drivers with a higher degree of psychopathic disinhibition trait commit more driving
errors, slips and lapses, aggressive and ordinary driving violations; Drivers with a higher degree of
psychopathic meanness trait commit more aggressive and ordinary driving violations; Drivers with
a higher degree of psychopathic boldness trait make fewer driving mistakes and have a lower
overall risk of driving; Psychopathy traits can predict risky driving and the disinhibition trait of
psychopathy has the highest prognostic value in predicting risky driving.
Conclusion: Psychopathy traits shows relationship with risky driving and psychopathy trait
disinhibition can prognose risky driving
Perfect crimes
A crime can, in fact, be perfect in very different ways,
and this perfection indeed depends only on the aim of the
perpetrator, whose psychic does not always work in a conventional way. Therefore, this phenomenon cannot be simply
described. Numerous publications in the field of forensic
medicine, in which the keyword „perfect crime” appears, certainly do not exhaust the topic, because they are mostly only
interesting speculations on the possibility of demonstrating
certain causes of fatal events during a criminal investigation.
The purpose of the study was to present a few such
publications from 1995-2020 and to analyze how the gathered evidence, research capabilities, and the inquisitiveness of state prosecutors and experts could have influenced the
results of investigations.
An undeniable fact was determined: the stronger the data
gathered, the larger the research capacities, and the greater
the curiosity of the investigators, the smaller the chances for
committing a perfect crime. And vice versa. Some events,
however, have such a high potential to become a perfect
crime that the chances of discovering the truth do not exist,
or they arise only as a result of an accidental coincidence
Political Leader Crisis Communication on Social Networks during the COVID-19 Pandemic
CC BY 4.0Effective crisis communication by a political leader can be significant in managing a pandemic
situation. In this article, we examine Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda's crisis communication
on the social network Facebook during the COVID-19 pandemic. We use a mixed content analysis
method to analyse the posts published on the president's account between 2020 and 2021. Our
research showed that Gitanas Nauseda recognised the health crisis caused by COVID-19 early and
spread clear and empathetic messages that calmed residents and informed them on how to behave
during the pandemic. However, due to the low frequency, the president's communication was barely
seen and heard. In addition, there was no cooperation with the national government in the crisis
communication. These factors may have led to a relatively small president's crisis communication
role in the COVID-19 pandemic management in Lithuania
Influence of digital transformation on economic security of enterprises

security of companies. The analysis of theoretical and methodological approaches to the disclosure of the
economic essence of economic security of the enterprise in a turbulent environment and digitalization of the
economy has identified six vectors of modern scientific achievements on the economic security of the enterprise.

transformations, perform an assessment of the impact of digital transformations on the economic security of
enterprises. It is determined that the development of the modern system of economic security of enterprises consists
in its adaptation to application in the conditions of digital transformations. The theoretical basis of formation of
the adapted system of economic safety of the enterprise is formed, the basic principles of adaptation are
formulated; the main stages of adaptation are highlighted; a structured model of the adapted system of economic
security of digital transformations of enterprises is developed
Multilingual Societies from Twitter Data: Empirical Analysis and Theoretical Modelling
Purpose: Cultural diversity encoded within the languages of the world is at
risk, as many languages have become endangered in the last decades in the context of
growing globalization. To preserve this diversity, it is first necessary to understand what
drives language extinction, and which mechanisms might enable coexistence

The idea of the book emerged within the research network created by the COST Action CA16121 ‘From Sharing to Caring: Examining Socio-Technical Aspects of the Collaborative Economy.’ The authors of the chapter sum up theoretical and empirical materials as well as country-specific cases provided in the book. The article critically assesses the current status of the sharing economy in European countries by highlighting major controversial issues related to deregulation, market disruption, or social inequality. The authors conclude that, considering the comprehensive and up-to-date materials collected and analysed in the book, it may become an outstanding source of knowledge and a practical tool in the process of expansion of the sharing economy in Europe and beyond
