    Get PDF
Introduction : Palliative care (PC) aims to improve the quality of life for patients facing life-threatening illnesses and their families by addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. While significant progress has been made in understanding the medical aspects of palliative care, the psychological dimensions of grief reactions remain a vital area for exploration. Psychological factors (PF) play a critical role in shaping individuals\u27 experiences of grief in palliative care settings. Objectives : Factors such as coping strategies, emotional regulation, and attachment styles influence the way individuals process and adapt to loss. By acknowledging these factors, healthcare providers can tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual and their family, promoting effective grieving and emotional well-being. Furthermore, prosocial behavior (PB), encompassing acts of kindness, compassion, and altruism, has gained recognition as a valuable resource for individuals coping with grief. Methods :Integrating the promotion of prosocial behavior within palliative care settings can provide opportunities for patients and families to find meaning and purpose amidst their grief, fostering a sense of connection and support. By combining knowledge from psychology and social sciences with palliative care practices, a more comprehensive approach to supporting patients and families during their grieving process can be developed. Results:This proposed integrative perspective carries implications for healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers involved in palliative care.In conclusion, an integrative perspective that considers psychological factors and prosocial behavior as determinants of grief reactions can potentially enhance the quality of palliative care interventions. Conclusion :By recognizing the complex interplay between these factors, healthcare providers can offer more comprehensive support to patients and families, facilitating healthier grieving processes and improved overall well-being in the face of life-threatening illnesses

Introduction: Due to high COVID-19 morbidity and death rates among the elderly, social connections have been drastically reduced during the previous year. During the COVID-19 epidemic, this research evaluated the social, behavioral, and medical consequences of Social Isolation (SI) in community-dwelling older individuals. Methods: Findings were stratified to analyze particular variations in two generally understudied groups, African American and Hispanic older adults. The research team surveyed people aged 55 and over (n = 575), assisted by elder living facilities and community-based groups. A dichotomous social isolation dependent variable was impacted by responses to a previously verified social isolation inquiry. Multivariable Logistic Regression (MLR) was used to take sociodemographic characteristics, health issues, unmet caregiving needs, and COVID-19 prevention strategies into consideration. Results: In order to independently evaluate the predictors of social isolation in older African American and Hispanic populations, regression model results were stratified by race/ethnicity. Overall, having insurance showed an inverse link to social isolation, but having female sex and more education were both favorably connected with it. Both unmet caregiving demands and the presence of any chronic diseases were substantially linked to social isolation. Conclusions: In older Hispanic persons, language usage, unmet caregiving needs, and social distance were all highly predictive of social isolation, unfulfilled caring needs, having one or more chronic diseases, and following social distance rules were significant predictors in older African Americans. Different findings show the need for treatments that are culturally aware to minimize the effects of social isolation in different at-risk populations and show the many ways in which social isolation affects older people

The COVID-19 global health crisis has spatial implications in terms of social isolation in order to control the virus\u27s spread.  Due to a lack of government facilities, more hotels are now serving as quarantine facilities. The study’s main objectives are to recommend issues and challenges parameters of the hotels as quarantine facilities as guides to develop policies and guidelines, to comprehend and recognize issues and challenges parameters of the hotels as quarantine facilities under the New Normal, and to ascertain significant relationship in respondents’ perspective when considering various variables. Hospitality industries interested in policy and guidelines should first consider the check-in and check-out procedures, room cleaning procedures, food preparation, and services and develop new policies and guidelines or develop existing policies and guidelines that can result in positive performance based on their identified needs, policy, and resources. The Check-in and Check-out Procedures are the recent issues and challenges in a hotel as a quarantine facility. Guests nowadays expect this factor to be the primary consideration when selecting with quarantine facility, including but limited to having functional front office services, such as the pre-arrival information about the hotel should be given prior to check-in, guests must have the option of choosing a preferred room with complete facilities and amenities, are allowed to use other hotel services and facilities such as recreational facilities, understand the room rate and other charges, are regularly monitored by a BOQ, DOH, or other government representatives and provide clearance from both the hotel and BOQ prior to check out. The study’s findings are limited in their generalizability due to the fact that it was done at only in hotels in three cities located in Metro Manila, resulting in a small sample size and inadequate statistical analysis

In this study, an attempt was made to provide basic data for improving caring efficacy by confirming the relationship between caring needs, compassion, and caring efficacy of nursing students. Because they need to increase care practice skills through the nursing education process. For the research method, Data were gathered from four nursing departments in two cities of a province in Korea. The collected data were analyzed by frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA according to the characteristics of the variables, and the correlation between variables was analyzed using Pearson\u27s correlation coefficient. The mediation regression analysis of caring needs, compassion, and caring efficacy was analyzed using the 3-step analysis method by Baron and Kenny (1986). Results revealed that, caring efficacy was related to motivation to apply (F=3.127, p=.009), grades (F=6.509, p=.002), presence or absence of volunteer work (t=1.932, p=.050), and health status (r=. 128, p=.012), interpersonal relationships (r=.338, p=.000), and major satisfaction (r=.265, p=.000) showed significant differences. In the relationship between caring needs and caring efficacy in nursing students, compassion was found to have a partial mediating effect (Z=2.00, p=<.001). Therefore, it is necessary to consider the effect of compassion as well as caring needs in order to increase care efficacy for nursing students, and it is necessary to make efforts to create a practice environment where they can learn and learn care to enhance care efficacy

    Get PDF
Purpose:  Students’ skills in multiplication operations are rudimentary skills that students need to master. The teacher must demonstrate mastery as many students misconstrue the concept of multiplication.   Theoretical framework: Analytical studies on multiplication strategies are still lacking, with most studies concentrating more on interventions in the teaching and learning of multiplication topics. Besides, the systematic literature review on multiplication is still lacking.   Design/methodology/approach:  For this research, 20 journal articles were reviewed based on data from ERIC.   Findings:  The analysis confirmed that errors in the concept of multiplication and various multiplication methods had been examined in several mathematical topics in all these studies.   Research, Practical & Social implications:   The concept of multiplication is one of the critical skills in daily life. This learning process demands proper techniques and methods in determining the direction and future of students. There are several distinct approaches according to student mastery. Therefore, this concept of multiplication is paramount before starting teaching higher-level topics in mathematics.   Originality/value:   The concept of multiplication is vital to children in calculations, and it starts from small numbers to large numbers. This concept also involves taxing facts for children to measure. The children find the same basic concept of multiplication repeated several times by teachers confusing, and hence, similar errors occur among children. The process of introducing concepts to children is a critical matter before starting teaching, and this implies that children are inquisitive in understanding concepts in depth
