Influence of Emotional Intelligence on Academic Performance

    Get PDF
Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability to perceive, understand, regulate and use emotions in oneself and others. Research on EI suggests that it is associated with more pro-social behavior, better academic performance and improved empathy towards patients. In this article, we review some of the evidence that supports the link between EI and academic performance (AP) in different educational contexts and levels. We also discuss some of the challenges and limitations of EI research and practice, such as the lack of consensus on the definition and measurement of EI, the difficulty of establishing causal relationships between EI and AP, the variability of the effect sizes and moderators of EI and AP, and the generalizability and applicability of EI interventions. We also propose some future directions and recommendations for EI research and practice, such as adopting a more integrative and comprehensive approach to define and measure EI, designing and conducting more experimental and longitudinal studies to test the causal effects of EI on AP, exploring the variability and interactions of EI and AP across different contexts and groups, and evaluating the feasibility, acceptability, fidelity, sustainability, and scalability of EI interventions in educational settings. We hope that this article will stimulate more interest and attention to the role of EI in education, as well as more collaboration and integration among researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers in this field

    Get PDF
By construction of vital infrastructure and influencing the built environment, the construction sector performs a crucial part in the growth of a country. However, difficulties with productivity can impede development and effectiveness, resulting in project delays, cost overruns, and lowered quality. One important component that affects the effectiveness and success of building projects is labor efficiency whose performance is highly guided by the psychological impacts of their interpersonal surroundings, target pressure and relations between the co-workers at the working site. The objective of this research study is to examine and comprehend the variables that highly determine the efficiency in performance of laborers which is being done by using Relative Importance Index (RII) tool. A thorough assessment of the literature and an investigation of workers from various trades who are involved in construction projects are both part of the study. The study offers beneficial perspectives into obstacles and opportunities for increasing labor productivity and gives suggestions to improve staff performance

    Get PDF
Until now, football coaching in Indonesia focuses more on male soccer athletes. But actually, female soccer athletes have more opportunities to compete at a higher level. Therefore, this article aims to examine and deepen how the training model suits female soccer athletes. The exercise model applied in the study used the Filanesia and Small Side Games exercise models. In addition, the training process is also integrated with life skill values so that the football training given is more meaningful for athletes who participate in training. In the process, the study used two groups of pretest-posttest design. The sampling technique in this study uses the total sampling technique, where the entire population becomes the research sample. Data was collected using the life skills Scale for Sport (LSSS) instrument for life skills measurement and The Game Performance Assessment Instrument (GPAI) instrument to measure athlete performance. The results showed that the filanesia and small-sided games training models influenced performance and life skills, namely: 1) the filanesia training model had a better influence on improving performance than small sides games training based on the average posttest results (Filanesia = 1.81 > small sides games =  1.79), and 2) small-sided games training models had a better effect on improving life skills than Filanesia exercises based on average (Filanesia = 0.861 < small sides games = 0.974). Therefore, can be concluded that the filanesia training model is more suitable for performance training, and the small-sided games model is more ideal for training athletes\u27 life skills

The present study aims at using dual criterion model in constructing a diagnostic criterion- Referenced test in the course of teaching thinking for the students at the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences. To achieve this aim, a test of (80) MCQ items with four alternatives has been constructed. The sample of the present study consists of (604) male and female students distributed on the universities of   : (Baghdad, Al-Mustansiriya, Al-Iraqya, Al-Kufa, Wasit, Karbala, Al-Qadisiyah). from fourth-grade students in the colleges of education, and for the morning study, for the academic year (2021/2022), The sample was selected by the stratified random method with a proportional distribution. The items have been statistically analyzed by using the (ICL) program in order to grade the items based two-parameter model. The researcher verified the hypothesis of  Unidimensionality by using factor analysis by the principal components Kaizer method, and computing the relationship between the item scone and the test total score. In addition, the assumption of freedom from speed factor as well as the decrease of the Guessing factor have been verified through assuring the individuals performance who were of lower ability on the difficult items. As a result, the items have been matched to the assumptions above. To identify the cut-off score  of the test, the opposite groups method has been used, where the score has been found out to be (51) representing (68.5%). The assumptions of this model have been verified by the significance of matching all the test items with the model itself except five items which were not matched. The final version of the test consists of (75) items. Result of the data analysis show that all the items and the whole lest have good psychometric characteristics. Based on the results, the researcher reached a set of conclusions, recommendations and suggestions
