    No full text
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) launched in 2014 has been a transformative initiative aimed at fostering financial inclusion in India by providing universal access to basic financial services, including savings accounts, insurance, and credit facilities, to underserved populations. This article examines the objectives, implementation strategies, and impact of PMJDY, with a particular focus on the role of lead banks in ensuring the scheme\u27s success. It reviews relevant literature on financial inclusion and economic empowerment, highlighting the ways in which PMJDY aligns with global theories on inclusive economic growth. Through its key features, such as zero-balance accounts, financial literacy programs, and an emphasis on digital banking, PMJDY has significantly increased access to financial products, particularly for women and rural populations. Despite its success, the scheme faces challenges related to infrastructure limitations, financial literacy, and technological barriers. The article concludes by offering policy recommendations to address these challenges and enhance the effectiveness of PMJDY in empowering economically marginalized communities

Unifying Edge and Cloud Computing: A Framework for Distributed AI and Real-Time Processing

    No full text
Edge computing and cloud computing are two popular computing paradigms that have distinct application scenarios and are often regarded as mutually exclusive. However, they have their own advantages and are often used together to support innovative applications like intelligent transportation, smart homes, and video analytics in smart cities. As edge nodes operate remotely with limited computing resources, different from cloud computing, applying AI to distributed environments facilitates real-time processing and the exchange of information. In addition, the way that unifies edge and cloud computing makes it preferable for engineering robot teams.   In this paper, we propose a cloud-edge computing migration framework for merging AI at the edge with the real-time processing power of the cloud, a different distributed AI framework, necessary components and algorithms, and the primary drivers of the aforementioned solution from a systematic point of view. At the same time, we collect the latest progress and clarify why the mentioned environment has a huge impact on applications such as collaborative robotics and self-driving vehicles. Cloud computing is at the other end of the continuum from edge computing, operating through the web with its resources, applications, and services. Depending on general-purpose processing, highly available services can be activated in seconds with the load of a button.

Blindness; Seeing the Unseen. A Feminist Disability Study of The Other Senses and Vision

    Get PDF
This paper attempts to examine the nuances related to the experiences of disabled women. Studying cultural and literary texts under the rubric of Feminist Disability Studies would radically alter our perspective of how ableism and patriarchy intersect with the lives of disabled women. Feminist disability studies have provided new avenues for revisiting the representation and experience of disabled women in literature. As envisioned by Rosemarie Garland Thomas, taking recourse to disability studies and feminism can provide the most apt critique of myriad ways in which disabled women are marginalised. “Within feminist disability studies, exploring conceptual and lived connections between gender and disability helps to make visible the historical and ongoing interrelationship between all forms of oppression.” (Hall 4) This paper will study to illustrate how the onset of disability in the protagonists in The Other Senses (2012) by Preeti Monga and Vision (1916) by Rabindranath Tagore disintegrates/destabilises relationships within the family. It would also reveal the ableist bias and oppression in their lives. Both disabled women characters in their marital relationships come across the worst form of abuse. These texts accentuate different layers of normative ideologies that have bearing a on disabled women’s experiences. Both the writers have been selected from diverse backgrounds considering that India is composed of rich tapestry of cultures

    Get PDF
Healthcare disparity remains a pressing concern in developing nations, exerting significant strain on local communities, especially those in rural and underprivileged areas. This challenge impedes the ability of these populations to uphold a satisfactory quality of life and hinders their access to healthcare on an equitable basis. This study delves into the healthcare service disparities across various blocks of Palakkad, the largest and one of the most economically challenged districts in Kerala\u27s health sector. The spatial variation of people living with health care facility is in complex nature with in the district due to its multidimensionality and identifying that facilitates location specific strategic planning in health services. Hence statistical analysis was used to compute composite multi scores using two different methods such as index-based composite disparity assessment and Principal component Analysis based composite disparity assessment. GIS maps are also being used to explore the problem area identification. The results revealed that Ottapalam and Attapadi were the blocks with high developments in health care facility and blocks with medium health care development were Sreekrishnapuram, Thrithala, Kollengode, Kuzhalmannam, Palakkad and Chittur. Blocks with low levels of health care facility development were noticed in Mannarkkad, and Malampuzha, Nenmara, Patambi and Alathur. This study sheds light on the spatial disparity, inadequate availability and affordability of healthcare services in Palakkad\u27s blocks. This research emphasizes on the need for improvements to align with basic-needs approach as envisaged in 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.  Significant positive transitions in health system are needed in weaker areas to make it better resilient and prepared to handle health threats in the future. &nbsp

Exploring the Therapeutic Potential of Boswellia serrata Derivatives in Arthritis: A Molecular Docking Study

    Get PDF
Docking is the process to understand interactions between any two molecules. It includes using multiple software and the pre-processing the protein and ligands according to need. Computationally we can screen multiple ligands weather they can be used as potential drug or drug targets in curing a disease. In this paper we’ll discuss about the Boswelliaserrataand its oleo gum resin extracts. Its extract has many components like diterpenoids, tripernoids and different kind of Boswellic acids. While going through the pathway of Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis, we took some protein candidates and docked them against the known compounds and Boswellic acids of oleo resin gum. Multiple docking scores were generated and observing them we can say that it can be a potential drug against arthritic activities. It has the potential to block many proteins of the arthritis and reducing inflammation and relief pain. The docking scores were not that good but if the compounds are modified or developed as candidate then multiple ways can be found to treat or even cure some cases of arthritis. Though, the reason and solid proof is still unknown for osteoarthritis but the symptoms can be treated by using the oleo gum resin of Boswelliaserrat

Investigating Role Of Critical Thinking On Decision Making: A Systematic Review Of Literature

    Get PDF
Decision making is integral part of the human life that includes making choice from the available options. Thinking plays an important role for evaluation and making important decisions. Critical thinking makes the decisions more logical and reason based by conscious efforts and wilful efforts (Paul & Elder, 2014). Critical Thinking is defined as “the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skilfully conceptualising, applying, analysing, synthesising and/or evaluating information gathered from or generated by observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or communication as a guide to belief and action” (Scriven & Paul, 1987).  Critical thinking has obtained greater value in these days when education has attained larger value in society for fulfilling the aspiration of the individuals irrespective of social and economic status. For making decisions about selection of educational institutions, subjects to pursue and employment choices, critical thinking play an important role. Critical thinking is defined as “one’s ability to think about her own thinking process” (Kuhn & Jr., 2004, p. 270). Among the rising values critical thinking is considered as one of high ranked value to be developed among the students, educators, administrators and employers (world economic forum, 2022). As delivery of education has become more and more complex with the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach, this paper analyses how the decision making is determined by the critical thinking process of an individual.&nbsp

This article concerns the development of statistical software, in Python and R, that is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of personalized treatment strategies. This software is a framework for estimating, with quantified uncertainty, how much better a proposed personalized treatment strategy is expected to perform compared to a current strategy for allocating treatments. The framework and software are aimed at researchers or practitioners who have clinical trial data where electronic health records or baseline patient characteristics are sufficient to personalize treatment. Importantly, the software incorporates the last data points of a study and stops the trial when adequate conclusions can be drawn. It serves as a complement to three papers that have explored the theoretical properties of such decision rules
