Hope and Optimism: How They Differ in Job Satisfaction During The COVID-19 Epidemic
Purpose: Due to COVID-19, Malaysian employees faced uncertainty in many aspects of life, particularly job security, adapting to new work conditions, and job loss affecting job satisfaction. Therefore, promoting optimism and hope is essential for employees to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. The purpose of this study is to discuss the importance of hope and optimism on employee’s job satisfaction.
Theoretical Framework: The study provides a literature review on the topics of hope, optimism, and job satisfaction. The hope and optimism are crucial characteristics that have the potential to affect an employee\u27s productivity, which in turn affects the work\u27s overall outcome. Businesses that demonstrate optimism and hope can ensure that their employees are satisfied with their jobs, thereby enhancing organisational performance. Although hope and optimism are frequently used interchangeably, they are distinct due to their individual characteristics. Optimism is the conviction that, despite adverse conditions, things will ultimately improve. Hope, on the other hand, fosters the conviction that despite life\u27s obstacles, an individual can flourish.
Design/methodology/approach: This research is descriptive in nature. The literature review in that article will emphasise the differences between hope and optimism in employee job satisfaction.
Findings: The current study confirms that hope is a significantly more beneficial trait for an individual than optimism. Hope is essential to achieving job satisfaction because employees with high levels of hope will have multiple goals and the capability to achieve them.
Research, Practical & Social implications: During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential to recognise that optimism and hope are cognitive traits that protect and aid employees in coping with their daily challenges. In contrast to optimism, however, hope can help employees better adapt to the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to job satisfaction.
Originality/value: This research topic is unique in that it makes a contribution to the field of psychological well-being, and it also has the potential to influence workplace practises and policies.
Keywords: Hope, optimism, job satisfaction, COVID-19, employees, mental healt
A Phenomenological Study on the Lived Experiences of Secondary Teachers in the Hybrid Classroom During the Covid-19 Crisis
The study focused on the lived experiences of secondary teachers in a hybrid classroom during the Covid-19 crisis in the state of Arizona and other states in the United States of America where many schools began implementing hybrid classrooms. With schools redesigning instruction during that time, hybrid classrooms with students attending a physical school on certain days and spending a few days remotely for online learning synchronously became the option for continuous learning.
Data were collected from 15 participants through one-on-one semi-structured interviews that were done either face-to-face or via Zoom video conferencing. This study was anchored on Husserl’s phenomenological approach. Coding through thematic analysis was employed to generate codes and themes. There were five themes that emerged as a result namely 1) Effective Virtual Learning and Purposive In-Person Classes; 2) Virtual Online Programs Support Hybrid Learning; 3) Challenges in Hybrid Learning Engagement; 4) Needs Assessment is Given Prior to Hybrid Learning; and 5) Open Opportunities to Improve Hybrid Learning. These themes led to the development of a framework at the secondary level of the educational system which apparently emerged from the different categories that were interwoven based on comparative analysis of the data. The emergent framework towards Improved Hybrid Learning may be proposed for schools to further improve their hybrid classroom implementation at the secondary level of education. In general, it may also be beneficial to school administrators, policymakers, educational consultants, teachers, and future researchers even beyond the pandemic, since technology and hybrid learning is here to stay
Frequency and Characteristics of Early Ventricular Repolarization Syndrome in Patients Diagnosed with Myocarditis
Introduction: The syndrome of early ventricular repolarization (CPR) is an electrocardiographic phenomenon characterized by the presence of ST segment elevation (J point, notch or connection wave on the descending part of the R wave, sometimes resembling the r’ wave), the rotation of the electrical axis of the heart counterclockwise along the longitudinal axis. The result of a number of studies has shown the prognostic value of CPR in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI). Patel R. and co-authors, analyzing the ECG in patients with a history of MI and with an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator, found that CPR in this group is associated with the development of life-threatening rhythm disturbances regardless of the left ventricular ejection fraction.
Objectives: Objective: to study the frequency of early ventricular repolarization syndrome in patients diagnosed with myocraditis.
Methods: The 1st study group included 63 patients diagnosed with myocarditis, the 2nd study group included 108 patients undergoing medical examination in polyclinics who underwent ECG diagnostics.
Results: In group 1, CPR was detected in 14.28% of the examined (9 patients) (average age 45.8±9.5 years, 37 men, 26 women), in group 2, CPR was registered in 10.1% of patients (11 patients) (average age 42.7±6.2 years).. Statistical analysis revealed no difference between the incidence of CPR in patients with myocarditis and polyclinic patients (p>0.05).
Conclusions: In patients with myocarditis, CPR was more common in standard leads in the form of a notch
Assessing The Efficacy of Play Therapy and Social Skills Intervention in Children with Autism: A Quantitative Descriptive Investigation
An investigation of behavioural problems and clinical variables among children with autism employs a quantitative descriptive research design. Social and emotional development of children with autism differs from that of their typically developing peers. Having difficulty interacting with others and forming relationships is one of the most prominent signs of autism. An extensive literature search found that play therapy and social skills therapy aren\u27t commonly used for children with autism spectrum disorders. With frequency tables, both demographic and research variables of the study samples will be analyzed for their qualitative distributions (i.e. closed ended values). Data on socio-demographic variables and clinical variables were collected through the socio-demographic section of the questionnaire. A set of ASSP and ABAT tools was used to measure the participants\u27 social skills and behavior. Statistical differences between the demographic variables of children with autism in experimental groups I and II before intervention were calculated with the chi-square test. Despite the non-significant \u27p\u27 value (P>0.05), the experimental I, II, and control groups did not differ significantly. Both the groups were almost similar and comparable. Children with autism can benefit from more targeted interventions and support strategies, which will improve their well-being and quality of life. As a result, parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals may gain a better understanding of how to cope with the behavioral symptoms of autism spectrum disorder
