Behavioural Biases and Their Impact on Retail Investment Decisions: A Psychological Perspective
The traditional theories of finance often assume that investors act rationally, making decisions purely based on logic and available information. However, real-world investment behaviour frequently deviates from this ideal due to various psychological influences. This research explores the impact of behavioural biases on the investment decisions of retail investors, with a specific focus on how cognitive and emotional factors influence decision-making in the financial markets. Drawing upon the principles of behavioural finance, the study identifies and analyses key psychological biases such as hindsight bias, confirmation bias, optimism bias, herding behaviour, and overconfidence bias. Through a structured questionnaire and quantitative analysis, the study gathers data from a diverse set of retail investors to examine how these biases manifest in investment behaviour across demographic segments. The findings suggest that these biases significantly affect portfolio choices, risk perception, and reaction to market volatility. For instance, overconfidence often leads to excessive trading, while herding behaviour pushes investors to follow the crowd despite personal analysis. By integrating psychological insights with financial decision-making, this study underscores the importance of investor education and awareness in mitigating irrational investment behaviours. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the non-rational forces shaping retail investor behaviour and offers recommendations for financial advisors, regulators, and policymakers to enhance financial literacy and promote sound investment practices
"Impact of Resistance Training on Shoulder Strength and Injury Prevention in School Volleyball Players"
This study investigates the effectiveness of a structured resistance training program in enhancing shoulder strength and reducing injury incidence among school volleyball players. A total of 72 high school volleyball players (aged 14-18 years) were randomly assigned to three groups (n=24 per group): Group I received a comprehensive shoulder-focused resistance training program, Group II participated in traditional volleyball training with basic strengthening exercises, and Group III served as the control group with standard volleyball practice only. The intervention was conducted over a 16- week period during the competitive season, with resistance training sessions performed twice weekly. Pre- and post-intervention assessments included shoulder strength measurements (internal/external rotation, abduction, flexion), functional movement screening, and injury tracking throughout the season.
Results demonstrated significant improvements in shoulder strength parameters and a notable reduction in shoulder injury rates in the resistance training group compared to both comparison groups. The resistance training group showed a 23.5% increase in external rotation strength, 19.8% improvement in internal rotation strength, and 67% reduction in shoulder injury incidence compared to the control group. These findings indicate that implementing a targeted resistance training program can effectively enhance shoulder strength and serve as a preventive measure against common volleyball-related shoulder injuries. The study emphasizes the critical importance of incorporating evidence-based strength training protocols in school volleyball programs to optimize athletic performance while prioritizing player safety and long-term shoulder health
Toward an Integrative Understanding of Safety Behaviours in Stuttering
Safety behaviours are commonly understood as actions that maintain anxiety by preventing individuals from confronting feared situations, particularly in the framework of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). While this concept is widely applicable to anxiety disorders, its relevance to chronic conditions like stuttering is less clear. Stuttering, a complex speech disorder, involves social and communication challenges that may lead to using up safety behaviours on the subject of chronic conditions like stuttering, where these can act as supportive strategies rather than merely causing anxiety. This paper judiciously examines the function of safety behaviours in stuttering, contrasting traditional CBT approaches that discourage these actions with speech therapy strategies that often incorporate them as practical tools. Drawing on clinical evidence and theoretical insights, authors argue that safety behaviours in chronic stuttering may also have supportive value, helping individuals navigate social and communicative demands. The authors also highlight the need to differentiate between maladaptive safety behaviours and those supporting functional communication. By using manual reference checks and keyword searches, a systematic review of peer-reviewed literature was carried out. The findings focused on how safety behaviours work in chronic medical conditions and then analysed within the framework of stuttering, evaluating the dual role of safety behaviours as both supportive strategies and contributors to anxiety
Leading Through Crisis: Empathy Leadership As A Strategic Imperative In Post-COVID Organizations
The COVID-19 pandemic represents one of the most profound human and organizational crises of modern history. Beyond its health implications, the pandemic has disrupted economies, destabilized workforces, and fundamentally transformed leadership expectations. Organizations have faced collapsing consumer demand, fractured supply chains, regulatory uncertainty, and unprecedented employee anxiety. In this volatile environment, leadership effectiveness is increasingly measured not merely by strategic competence but by empathetic capability.
This study explores empathy leadership as a critical post-pandemic leadership paradigm, emphasizing the importance of practicing social distancing without emotional distancing. Empathy leadership enables leaders to recognize employee needs beyond physical safety, including psychological security, emotional well-being, dignity, and purpose. Drawing from emotional intelligence theory, resilience research, and organizational behavior literature, this paper argues that empathy is not an innate trait but a learnable leadership skill.
The paper highlights how empathetic leaders foster trust, employee citizenship behavior, resilience, and sustained performance during crisis conditions. It further demonstrates that organizations led with empathy experience higher engagement, ethical decision-making, and workforce commitment. The study concludes that empathy leadership is indispensable for organizational recovery, resilience, and long-term sustainability in the post-pandemic world
Revenue Recognition In Practice: Theoretical, Calculative And Accounting Differences Between Ias 18 And Ifrs 15/Asc 606
Accounting Standards plays an eminent role in regulation the Principles, Guidelines and Rules for Financial Statement framework. Prior to the advent of Global Accounting Standards, there were inconsistencies in the Accounting Standards of different countries as each countries practiced its respective Accounting Standards. It is due to this differences that the gave rise for one Global Financial Language, hence in 2014 IASB (that handles IFRS) and FASB (that handles the US GAAP) collaborated to develop the Global Accounting Standards. In order to assess the Financial Performance and Positioning of any entity, Revenue plays a vital role. Therefore, there are certain guidelines set by the ASC/ IFRS for the prompt recognition of Revenue. This article clarifies on how the Revenue is recognized based IAS and ASC/ IFRS guidelines
Hybrid Image Enhancement and Dense Segmentation for Robust Iris Recognition Using Attention Mechanism
Iris recognition is a highly precise biometric identification technique that exploits the unique epigenetic patterns present in the human iris. However, existing approaches often encounter challenges related to segmentation accuracy and classification efficiency. To address these limitations, this research proposes a novel iris recognition framework that emphasizes efficient segmentation and classification by integrating Convolutional Neural Networks with Sheaf Attention Networks (CSAN). The primary objective of this work is to develop an integrated framework that jointly optimizes iris segmentation and classification performance. A Dense Extreme Inception Multipath Guided Upsampling Network is employed to achieve accurate iris segmentation. Subsequently, classifiers, including convolutional neural networks enhanced with sheaf attention mechanisms, are evaluated for recognition performance. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach delivers superior accuracy and robustness in iris recognition, making it well suited for secure authentication and access control applications. Comparative analysis with existing methods shows that CSAN achieves accuracy rates of 99.98%, 99.35%, 99.45%, and 99.65% across four different datasets, respectively
Evaluation Of Clonidine In The Management Of Fecal Incontinence: A Placebo-Controlled Trial In Women With Diarrhea-Predominant Symptoms
The other women with the urge-predominant fecal incontinence (FI) demonstrate the presence of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome and binding and sensitive rectum. This was a prospective placebo controlled study that attempted to establish the effect of the use of the cloning 2-adrenergic agonist on the anorectal activity as well as the symptoms of female FI. The bowel and the anorectal functions were measured in a sample group of 43 women (mean age 58+/-2 years) with urge-prevalent FI who were randomized to take either clonidine (0.1 mg, twice a day) in tablet format or the placebo by mouth over a 4-week period taking into consideration the symptoms of the bowel and the anorectal functions measuring the anal pressures, the rectal compliance and sensation. The rectal compliance and sensation manometry helps to obtain the anal pressures before and after the treatment to terminate the measurements. Analysis was done by consulting the endoanal magnetic resonance imaging of the damage of the anal sphincter. Bowel diaries were made on daily and week basis. The primary outcome measure was F I and Constipation Assessment symptom severity score. The Placebo group reduced their FI scores of 9.1 0.3 to 7.6 0.5 compared with clonidine group which reduced their FI scores of 8.1 0.4 to 6.5 0.6. Clonidine had no effect on the severity of the symptoms of the FI and bowel symptoms (frequency of bowel movement or stool consistency), the anal pressures, rectal compliance, and sensation in comparison with the placebo. Nevertheless, when the subjects in a study were stratified in terms of those with and those without diarrhea, the percentage of loose stool between those who had diarrhea was decreased with the administration of clonidine (P=.018). It also minimized the days of FI in the sub sample of diarrhea (P=.0825). Overall, clonidine showed no signs of improvement in bowel symptomatology, fecal bowel continence, and anorectal servages in women with urge-predominant FI over the placebo. But in subjects that had diarrhea, clonidine enhanced the consistency of stool and had a close significant positive impact on the fecal continence.
