    No full text
The aging process leads to biological changes that affect the physical performance and nutritional status of older adults. The objective this study is to determine the association between physical performance and anthropometric and body composition variables in the elderly. This is a cross-sectional study. To verify the correlation between handgrip strength (HGS) and flexibility with age and anthropometric variables in the elderly. This was a cross-sectional home-based study of elderly individuals. Gender, age, HGS, flexibility, arm muscle circumference (AMC), corrected arm muscle area (CAMA), and body mass index (BMI) were recorded. A total of 420 elderly individuals were evaluated. Correlations of HGS with age, AMC and CAMA, in both genders, were observed. BMI correlated with HGS only in females. Flexibility correlated with BMI in males. In the multivariate analysis, age and AMC were predictive variables of the HGS variation in females. In males, age was the only variable predictive of HGS, and BMI was the predictor of flexibility variation. The results indicate a probable influence of age and anthropometric variables in muscular strength, as well as that of excess weight in flexibility limitation

The low solubility profile of drugs is one of the most demanding characteristics in drug dosage development, restraining the bioavailability of any drug. Based on solubility and permeability profiles, drugs are categorized into four different groups by the biopharmaceutical Classification system (BCS), which provides guidance optimization of dosage form for any drug. Many formulation methods for solubility enhancement of drugs having low solubility have been prepare. While they have shown fruitful results in enhancing drug bioavailability effectively, outcomes of these methods are based on certain physicochemical conditions of that molecule. Some of these methods have been discussed in this article. The preferred drug formulation for the majority of APIs continues to be oral dosage forms. Pharmaceutical co-crystals are a cutting-edge approach for increasing the bioavailability of low-solubility drugs in oral dosage form by boosting solubility, micrometric properties, dissolution rate, and stability. Co-crystals are the combination of an active pharmaceutical ingredient and one or more pharmaceutically accepted guest molecules called coformer in a stoichiometric ratio in a crystal lattice. In the current scenario, the solubility profile of drugs is a leading concern in drug development in pharma industry. This review paper offers a thorough examination of pharmaceutical cocrystals, encompassing preparation techniques, physicochemical characteristics, and practical uses. It serves as a valuable resource for improving the design and production of pharmaceutical cocrystals with specific physicochemical traits and intended applications, providing valuable insights for their efficient developmen

A three-step procedure using sodium carbonate as a catalyst was used to manufacture a series of 2-amino-7-hydroxy-4H-chromene-3-carbonitriles 4a-c. The solvent mixture used in the experiment was 96% ethanol and water, with a volume ratio of 1:20. A successful reaction between the corresponding hydroxyl chromenes derivatives and propargyl bromide resulted in the propargyl ether compounds 5a–c, which are derived from chromene-3-carbonitriles. 5a–c propargyl ethers and 1-azido-3-chlorobenzene were linked by 1H-1,2,3-triazole-tethered click chemistry to produce 4H-chromene-chlorophenyl conjugates 7a–c. The ideal catalyst for this chemical reaction was CuI. From 77.68% to 82.33%, the yields of 1H-1,2,3-triazole were measured. The antimicrobial activity of each of the triazoles 7a-c was examined in vitro. The following compounds were found to be efficient against several bacteria: B. subtilis (MCC 2010), S. aureus (MCC 2408), P. aeruginosa (MCC 2408), and E. coli (MCC 2412). &nbsp

Background: Dental fluorosis, a condition caused by excessive fluoride intake during tooth development, is a significant public health concern in regions with high fluoride levels in drinking water. This study aims to assess the prevalence and severity of dental fluorosis among patients at a district hospital in northern India and examine its association with oral hygiene and periodontal disease. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at the Department of Dentistry, Autonomous State Medical College, Fatehpur, India, over twelve months from June 2022 to June 2023. A convenience sample of 1,879 adult patients aged 18 years and above was recruited. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire, clinical examinations for dental fluorosis severity using the Thylstrup and Fejerskov Index (TFI), oral hygiene assessment using the Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (SOHI), and periodontal disease diagnosis based on bleeding on probing and probing depth. Statistical analyses were performed using chi-square tests and Spearman correlation coefficients. Results: The study found that 58.4% of participants exhibited dental fluorosis, with 27.4% having mild and 19.5% having moderate fluorosis. Poor oral hygiene was observed in 14.4% of participants, and 23.8% had periodontitis. Significant associations were found between dental fluorosis severity and oral hygiene status (p < 0.01), as well as between dental fluorosis severity and periodontitis (p < 0.05). A moderate positive correlation was identified between dental fluorosis and SOHI (r = 0.34, p < 0.01), and between SOHI and periodontitis (r = 0.41, p < 0.01). Conclusion: The study underscores the high prevalence of dental fluorosis in northern India and its association with poor oral hygiene and periodontal disease. These findings highlight the need for comprehensive public health strategies to mitigate fluoride exposure and improve oral health practices among the affected population. Introduction: Booster doses are administered to a vaccinated populace that has completed a number one vaccination series (presently one or doses of COVID-19 vaccine relying at the product) while, with time, the immunity and scientific protection has fallen beneath a fee deemed enough in that population. The objective of a booster dose is to restore vaccine effectiveness from that deemed no longer sufficient.  Introducing booster doses must be firmly evidence-pushed and focused to the populace groups in greatest need. The intent for implementing booster doses should be guided by evidence on declining vaccine effectiveness, in particular a decline in safety towards extreme sickness in the general population and in high-risk populations.  Objectives: The objective of the study was to assess the knowledge and attitude regarding COVID-19 booster dose among students. Methodology: The present study has used Quantitative Research Approach and Descriptive Research Design. A total 120 students who were enrolled in B.Tech, Jamia Hamdard participated in the study. Data was gathered using demographic sheet, structured questionnaire and attitude rating scale which was administered through online mode after formal permission. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, means and median and standard deviation were used to describe the demographic profile, level of knowledge and attitude regarding COVID-19 booster dose. Results: The findings of present study reveal that out of 120 sample 79(66 %) have good knowledge whereas 41(34%) have average knowledge regarding covid-19 booster dose. And (98.3%) were willing to get vaccinated and (1.7%) were not willing to get vaccinated. Conclusion: Knowledge assessment shows on Covid-19 booster dose, majority of samples i.e., (66%) have adequate knowledge whereas (34%) have inadequate knowledge and (98.3%) were willing to get vaccinated whereas (1.7%) were not willing to get vaccinated. This result shows that amongst the group, students have good knowledge regarding the covid-19 booster dose but still some of them do not have proper knowledge, and majority of students were willing to get vaccinated, so there\u27s a need of further studies on covid-19 booster dose
