To Identify The Incidence And Risk Factors Of Dry Socket: A Prospective Study
Objectives: To identify the incidence and risk factors of dry socket after tooth extraction.
Material and methods: Patients who underwent extractions during the 6-month period in the department of oral & maxillofacial surgery and fulfilled the inclusion criteria were included in the study. All the patients who came back with the complaint of persistent or increasing pain during the first week of extraction were examined clinically for the possible diagnosis of dry socket. Pain and empty extraction socket with no blood clots was diagnosed as a dry socket. The data regarding demographic information of patients, smoking habits, medical history, medications, tooth extraction, indication for extraction, post operative medications, patient compliance, number of extractions, type of extraction (intra-alveolar or trans-alveolar), use of oral contraceptives was collected.
Results: Only 6 patients, (3 males and 3 females) out of the total of 2458 adult patients (3552 extractions) included in the study were diagnosed as having dry socket. The incidence of dry sockets in this study was found to be 0.24 %
Conclusions: Extraction site, surgical trauma, and poor patient compliance were the main reasons for dry socket in our study
A Study Of Social Media And Its Effect On Family And Peer Relationships In Adolescence
This study examines the influence of social media on the interactions between teenagers and their families and peers. It utilizes both primary and secondary data sources to gather empirical evidence. The collection of primary data involved the use of three instruments: the Social Media Addiction Scale Student Form (SMAS-SF) developed by C. Sahin, which was scored on a 5-point Likert scale; the Brief Family Relationship Scale-BFRS (Henry et al., 1994); and the Peer Relationship Scale developed by Fatih Aydoğdu in 2015. The secondary data comprised a range of sources such as research papers, books, journals, e-books, and websites. The study included 410 teenagers from schools in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and Hissar, Haryana. The participants were recruited using the Cochran technique to determine a sample size of 385, which was amended to 410 after discarding incomplete or erroneous replies. The analysis employed Excel and SPSS software to examine hypotheses using descriptive statistics, regression analysis, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation. The findings emphasize that social media has the potential to both improve and damage familial and peer relationships, depending on variables such as usage habits, engagement with content, and individual vulnerability that require more investigation in future research

The Impact and Implementation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in Karnataka
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, commonly known as the SC/ST Act, was enacted to curb the persistent discrimination and violence against marginalized communities in India. This paper reviews the implementation and impact of the SC/ST Act in Karnataka, a state with a significant history of caste-based violence. Through a synthesis of existing literature, the study explores three main themes: the historical context of caste-based violence, the legislative and policy framework of the Act, and the socio-legal challenges in its enforcement. The historical backdrop of caste oppression in Karnataka highlights the entrenched nature of caste-based discrimination, particularly in rural areas, necessitating robust legal protections like the SC/ST Act. The Act, while a significant advancement in India’s legal framework, faces challenges in implementation, including underreporting of atrocities, judicial delays, and inadequate legal representation for victims. Case studies from Karnataka reveal persistent issues in law enforcement and judicial processes, exacerbated by social stigma and fear of retaliation. Despite these challenges, civil society organizations and the judiciary have played vital roles in advocating for the rights of SCs and STs, raising awareness, and ensuring legal recourse. The study concludes that while the SC/ST Act is a powerful tool for combating caste-based atrocities, its effectiveness in Karnataka is contingent upon addressing the socio-legal barriers that hinder its enforcement. Continued research and policy innovation are necessary to ensure that the Act fulfils its intended purpose of protecting marginalized communities in Karnataka and beyond
A Study To Assess The Level Of Knowledge On Alzheimer’s Disease And Its Preventive Aspects Among Employees Of Mid Age Adults (35-55 Years) At Selected Organisations, Yanam
Introduction: Old age is a critical period in human life, with limited regenerative abilities and increased susceptibility to diseases like physical deterioration and psychosocial alienation. Alzheimer\u27s disease, also known as the death of mind, is a progressive degenerative disease that attacks brain tissues, causing impaired memory, thinking, behavior, and emotions. It is the most common cause of neurodegenerative dementia in the elderly and is characterized by progressive cognitive decline. A study aims to assess the knowledge and preventive aspects of Alzheimer\u27s disease among employees aged 35-55 at selected organizations in Yanam. The study aims to identify the association between knowledge and demographic variables.
Methodology:
A descriptive study design had made use of Non experimental approach by non probability convenience sampling to select 100 samples, from Public Works Department Yanam based on certain predetermined criteria, a formal written permission was obtained from the executive engineer of the Public Works Department Yanam. The data was gathered by a well-structured questionnaire which was validated and their reliability was determined. The structured tool consists of two parts. Part A deals with socio demographic data and Part B deals with knowledge questionnaire on Alzheimer’s Disease and its preventive aspects. The obtained data is analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Result & Discussion:
The study found that 28% of mid-aged adults had inadequate knowledge about Alzheimer\u27s Disease and its preventive aspects, with 65% having moderately adequate knowledge and 7% having adequate knowledge. The study also found a significant association between knowledge levels and preventive aspects among demographic variables such as age, education, family income, spirituality, academic grades, and geographical background. However, no significant association was found with other demographic variables. The study suggests the need for public education to reduce the risk of Alzheimer\u27s and delay its onset. Nurses should also educate these individuals to prevent or delay the disease\u27s onset
A Study On Prevalence Of Work Place Related Stress And Its Association With Quality Of Life In Physiotherapists Working In Out-Patient Departments In Chandigarh Capital Region.
Numerous studies have reported significant costs associated with workplace stress. Businesses in the United States incurred $300 billion in stress-related expenses, and the European Union cited 20 billion euros as the price of stress in 1999. Furthermore, 89% of the population in India reported experiencing stress, exceeding the global average of 86%. Previous research has identified that physiotherapists often face workplace stress due to factors such as staffing shortages, excessive workloads, limited time to attend to patients and their families, and burdensome administrative duties. This stress has been shown to negatively impact the provision of physiotherapy services. The current study aimed to assess the prevalence of work-related stress and its association with quality of life among physiotherapists employed in outpatient departments within the Chandigarh Capital Region. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 100 physiotherapists from both private and government hospitals in the region. The results revealed that 84% of the physiotherapists experienced moderate to severe levels of work-related stress. Additionally, physiotherapists with higher stress levels reported a diminished quality of life across various domains. Consequently, the implementation of effective stress management strategies is recommended to mitigate work-related stress and enhance the well-being of physiotherapy professionals
Analysis Of Psychological Factors Affecting The Sports Performance
India\u27s accomplishments at the Asian Games, the Common Wealth Games (CWG), and the Olampic Games make it very proud. Indian athletes have matured significantly, and their self-assurance has grown significantly. Through strategic planning, creative training techniques, and employee empowerment, there are, nonetheless, opportunities to improve HRM procedures. The results provide NGOs with a framework for improving the organizational outcomes of their HR strategy
Existential Interpretations of Nature In Thomas Hardy\u27s The Return Of The Native And The Woodlanders
This paper explores Thomas Hardy\u27s existential interpretations of nature in The Return of the Native and The Woodlanders. In these novels, nature functions as more than a mere setting; it plays a pivotal role as an indifferent, often hostile force that shapes human destiny. Through the landscapes of Egdon Heath and the woodlands, Hardy reflects existential themes of isolation, alienation and the tension between free will and fate. The natural world in Hardy\u27s works symbolizes both the vastness of the universe and the insignificance of human efforts within it. The characters\u27 existential struggles against nature underscore Hardy\u27s vision of a deterministic and indifferent universe, where human desires often clash with uncontrollable external forces. This paper highlights how Hardy uses nature to explore deeper philosophical questions about the human condition, making his novels profound reflections on existence and the search for meaning in an uncaring world
